Courtyard Huntington Beach Fountain Valley

Had stayed here within the last year and found it to be a decent hotel at that time: clean room, friendly and professional staff, and good value for the cost. This time was not as good, and we probably won't come back. Front desk was friendly and professional during check-in. However, when we got to our room and eventually pulled the bed covers, we saw very noticeable dirt-like stains on the sheets beneath. It took 3 attempts for me to get a hold of the front desk via phone- the phone just kept ringing for the 1st 2 tries. I explained the situation, and asked if someone could be sent to replace the sheets. He apologized and said he'd send someone right away. A few minutes later there was a knock at our door. When I opened the door, there was no one there, but a bag of new bed linens at the door. The staff literally dropped off the replacement bed linens at the door and dashed off. My SO and I didn't feel like calling front desk again, so we attempted to change the bed linens ourselves. Unfortunately, we noticed makeup stains on the replacement sheets as well. They appeared at one end so we just decided to put that side at our feet end, and just make due. Another issue with the room is that the bathtub did not drain well. As we showered, the tub gradually filled with water.

Sonesta Select Hotel in Huntington Beach - Fountain Valley is an excellent, but affordable place to stay in Orange County. The rooms are large and clean. There's a nice and roomy dining area across the lobby where you can buy snacks and refreshments or you can bring food in from other restaurants. You can also bring your laptop in there and work. It's generally very quiet. Free WiFi works well. The hotel is right next to the I-405 freeway, but the hotel doesn't have much freeway noise. It's very close to many good restaurants on Brookhurst Ave.

Parking fee added after check in and was told it was $16 but was charged $20. Check in person was too busy on her phone to pay attention to helping customers. Hotel is run down and now no longer worth the nightly rate you charge. They also charge (not a hold) a $250 deposit. That they take forever to refund.

Do not book your stay here. I found rotting sushi found in my fridge, a wet, nasty washcloth hanging over my shower curtain, wadded up, used tissues stuffed in the tissue box, torn chair apolstery, trash not taken out, and the third floor hallway wreaks like a soiled baby's diaper that's been sitting in the sun for too long. Seriously disgusting. Also, upon my arrival, I was told there would be a $250 precharge for incidentals on my card. Given the state of the room, the incidental pre-charge should have been $0. $250 would have covered a one night at a nicer Marriott, which is where I will be staying at from now on. Tried something different, lesson learned.

Hidden fees beware! Rom was supposed to be $133. Then they put a $250 + on you card as well and won’t give a receipt! Room clean enough, girl that checked me in was very rude. No amenities to speak of. Had to turn in keys at check out to try to get a receipt had to wait almost 30 min to turn in keys and then receipt does not show the amount they charged me, but the whole $377 was debited from my account. What a ripoff!
