The Landon, Ascend Hotel Collection

Hotel in lovely location, Bal Harbor, approximately 8 miles north of South Miami. Beautiful beach and coastline nearby and restaurants and a bar within easy access. Evening Receptionist was super friendly and there is a happy hour - free wine between 5.00 and 6.00pm every evening. Rooms are spacious, comfrey bed, clean and good shower. Scored this hotel as a three due to lack of facilities- no pool and no bar. However perfectly adequate for a stop over and it seems to be a favourite stop for people joining a cruise. Cost 50 to 60 dollar in taxi from airport and to cruise ports.

One of the few choices for costly Bay Harbour Island. Older hotel, re modeled. Clean, comfortable rooms, but quite overpriced due to location. Staff basically okay-they really did the minimum of check in /check out. Breakfast adequate. 1 hour happy hour. No parking except for city lot nearby. Not a problem for us, due to having family on the island.

This was the worst hotel I’ve had the misfortune to stay at. The hallway carpet was wrinkly, old and musty smelling. The elevator lift we were told they have, was broken. Our shower wand was broken, there was no plug in the sink drain, not all of our bedside lights worked, and the ice machine on our floor was not working. It was very hard to sleep. The windows are very old and don’t block any sound, so all day and night we could hear people in the public parking lot honking their horns when they locked their car doors. One horrible night of our stay someone’s car alarm was malfunctioning and going off for long periods of time from 9:00pm until 3:30am. The hotel and police said nothing could be done. Bah! It was someone staying at the hotel but they don’t ask for your license plate. Bad policy! The staff was very non-apologetic for all our issues. There are better places nearby to stay! Last but not least our socks got very dirty walking on the carpet in our room!

My husband and I stayed at The Landon. The hotel itself is okay, the location is fantastic. However, there is no hotel parking. You have to park in the city lot behind the hotel and pay for it. Paying for it is not the issue. The pay for parking app will only let you pay for 3 hours and will not let you extend your time. Luckily during the night, from 10pm -7 am parking is free. I was informed by the front desk that I would just have to set my alarm for 7am to pay for parking again, which I did. Of course, back to the 3 hour parking again with no extensions. Checkout at the hotel is 11am, but my parking terminates at 10am….. and of course there are officers in the lot just waiting to give you a ticket or boot your car. It was not a good experience and I will not book that hotel again.

I would've gave a 10 if it wasn't for the parking issue. im handicap ♿️ & employee parked right next to us couldn't get on my car. had to pull out to be able to get in my car, besides that hotel staff was very Good & attentive, very polite , happy hour a plus. for the price was very Good!!
