Dream of Zanzibar

The rooms and environment are nice. All the attendants were fantastic and friendly. Rahma is one of the attendants that I can quickly remember.

We had a lovely stay at the Dream of zanzibar before and after a safari. The hotel is lovely with spacious rooms, a great pool and right on the white sand beach. The staff were amazing the boy who worked at reception and carried our cases single handed always had a big smile and made us feel welcome. The waiters and waitresses in the bars, restaurant and round the pool were all extremely attentive I cant remember all their names but Jacqueline, Grace, Joyce, Winefreda, and Genaroza among many others were very friendly and attentive - a big thank you. A particular mention to Mulat who told us she is a trainee. She was outstanding and a real asset to the hotel. I hope she can be kept on when her training is over. We enjoyed the evening entertainment every night and the excursions were great ——Stone town was very interesting and swimming with the turtles in Salem Cove was amazing. Bring water shoes if you decide to do this. The only negatives for us were a lack of any information on arrival, luke warm water at best in the shower and we didn’t really like most of the meat dishes served in the restaurant. Meat was often very chewy and too dark in colour. Beach was lovely but a lot of seaweed which spoiled it a bit for swimming in the sea.My advice to anyone coming would be bring a water filter bottle and decant from the glass bottle in the room. Bring hand sanitiser as there was no water occasionally. Bring plenty of dollars if you want to tip the amazing staff. There’s no ATM at the hotel and any ATMs in the town or airport will only give you the local currency - schillings which is hard to work out. Once you get your head round the East African ways you will have an incredible and very different experience especially if you do a safari. Just returned from 2 weeks at Dream Of Zanzibar, what a fantastic time we had, its a small boutique hotel with around 37 rooms. The staff are a credit to the hotel, they made the holiday, had a great laugh with them from breakfast to last orders. Rooms were a good size and a well stocked fridge, everything was immaculate and clean. The food was off the scale, I defy anyone to not like something on the Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menus, again staff were attentive at all times. It would be unfair to single out particular members of staff as everyone from the manager to the cleaners where fantastic. I have only one gripe, that was the hot water which wasn't hot at the best of times but hey I'm on holiday!!!!!!

After arriving in the morning and checking in we were able to immediately enjoy a delicious breakfast. We had to wait for our room for a little while, but could enjoy a drink at the bar in the meantime. The room (ocean view suite) was very nice, big and clean. The view was amazing. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are in the same restaurant and the menu changes everyday. So everday we could enjoy different and fresh food. This continued through out the whole two weeks. All facilities (spa, pool, bar, rooftop bar, laundry etc.) are incredible. But most of all the staff are the people that made our stay amazing and perfect! We want to thank every single one of them for just that little bit of extra they give in what they do. We were so lucky to have spent 6 nights here, relaxing after a safari in Tanzania. Beautiful beaches, kind and caring staff, attentive service, delicious food. Our room was big and airy, impeccably clean. Highly recommended!!
