Me and my girlfriend have just stayed here the first week in May and really enjoyed it. The location of the hotel is stunning with the views across the bay. We were concerned it would be in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do which is somewhat true but we worked around it. The taxi boat from the hotel is really reliable (every hour - 15€ per day for unlimited trips per day) and takes you to Herceg Novi across the water in 10 minutes where you can get buses and boats all over Montenegro. There’s not much to see there but it’s a nice enough little town. I think we realised to be honest there’s not a right lot of stuff to do in any town in Montenegro but that was fine. The hotel is probably only a 35 minute drive from Dubrovnik airport but the border took us over an hour on the way out which slowed us down. We were straight through on the way back so I guess that’s just luck. The room was clean, modern and spacious with a good view on the upper floors. The shower was powerful and the maid replaced our towels every day without asking. There’s a coffee machine in the room and a fridge if you need them as well as a safe and plenty and hangers. The only slight problem with the room for me was that the curtains weren’t very good so by 6am it was pretty much full daylight every day. The hotel itself was very good. Spread over a few buildings built into the hillside but nothing is too far a walk (there a lot of steps though if you’re not into that). The pool does get busy and run out of beds but there was always a few spare on the beach. The beach was losing the sun around 1630hrs and the pool around 1800hrs. The restaurant also filled up to the point of no tables at around 2000hrs but we always managed to find somewhere without waiting too long. The food was as good as an all inclusive buffet can be with plenty of selection etc and was nice. My girlfriend is vegetarian and she managed okay too - better than most places we’ve been. I don’t really drink so can’t comment on the booze on offer. All the staff at the hotel were absolutely spot on. Very friendly and helpful, from the reception to the chefs to the bar/restaurant staff. Special shout out to Omar and the rest of the entertainment team too. There’s plenty going on to get involved with throughout the day and evenings. They do a good job of getting you involved without being overbearing and just make the whole place fun. There’s also a small gym on site that looked good enough and a spa. You can also rent kayaks and paddle board for 20€ an hour. There’s a girl selling excursions from the hotel by the pool for Petar boats. We did the blue caves and Kotor Bay boat trips. I wouldn’t bother with the blue caves. We paid 35€ each and spent 2 hours on an overcrowded boat with a roof and sides on it. You spend 15 minutes in a cave and then head straight back. Not that good and you’re not missing anything if you don’t do it. The Kotor Bay trip is worth doing though for just 45€ each. I’d absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Montenegro. We were able to see everywhere we wanted and felt glad we weren’t staying in what looked like more expensive/premium areas. If anything the view from the hotel and the connections looked better than anywhere else we passed. Side note on Montenegro; I would recommend it but we made a few mistakes I’d say. We probably went a bit early in the season so the weather wasn’t great. Cloudy and chilly for 4 of our 7 days. Appreciate it’s just luck but I’d probably go a few weeks later and before the proper summer rush because I imagine it gets horrendously busy in summer. Kotor Old Town is absolutely worth visiting but bear in mind there was at least one cruise ship a day heading there so it is busy. The cable car and alpine coaster nearby to Kotor are also worth doing - you can get a bus there from Kotor bus station. Perast and Lady of the Rocks are cool too and can be done on the boat trip sold from the hotel. We felt like Tivat was a waste of our time. Nothing really there other than a nice harbour and a few designer shops. A long way to travel for what we could see anywhere else. We didn’t bother with Budva because we thought it’d be the same. Buses from Herceg Novi to these places were cheap (about 6€). Not the easiest to work out, never on time and the staff weren’t the most helpful but give them a go. I would say a week here was enough to see and do everything (unless you want to explore the national parks but I’d say that’s a separate holiday). You can incorporate a few chilled beach days and a few more exploring. We felt like we’d been on an extended city break because we maybe did a bit much exploring but that’s our fault. Other than that, go!
We had an excellent 9-day trip with my five girlfriends. We were aware there would be quite a few steps, but that didn’t take away from the experience. The food was consistently very good throughout our stay. Even though the weather wasn’t great on a few days, it didn’t matter—we still had a fantastic time. A special mention goes to the fantastic entertainment team, especially Omar and Adam, who made the games and evening events so much fun. It would be nice if there was some outside cover when the weather isn't great but that's a tiny thing compared to the overall great experience we had at the iberostar waves hotel 😀
I was here with friends for 8 days and we have enjoyed our stay. The weather could have been warmer but the hotel atmosphere was great, the facilities, food were all excellent. I would like to commend the entertainment staff and especially Omar and Adam who are extremely personable, keeping all the guests entertained in a professional manner. Well done to the whole team and a huge thanks from me. We have had a lovely time.
Dear Iberostars managers... It wasn't our first time here... which obviously means we are more than satisfied... We really enjoyed it again...with amazing staff (Anna, Lidu, Daria...), great service in every single corner of your hotel, perfect room with a fabulous view to Boca bay, as always with plenty of tasty food, with peaceful morning coffee next to the pool...and lot of well organised activities to fulfil the time when we are in hotel's area... This year you have a great musician, who no matter of windy Friday made our evening and succeeded to warm our souls with beautiful singing and repertoar... We want to thank you again for your hospitality, dedication to your work and making us again to feel like we are in a big family...
Fabulous hotel and particularly excellent food. Different options every day with very friendly/helpful staff. I particularly recommend visiting Ivana at the spa. I am 7 months pregnant and quite exhausted and I visited Ivana every day for different treatments and come away feeling like a new person. The prices are extremely reasonable with a daily special each day with discount. The healing mud body wrap was my particular favourite! Thank you Ivana and all the staff for a wonderful holiday
