Hotel Dolcestate

The hotel is fine, and is very clean and the staff also very attentive, despite being overwhelmed at times. The food is quite basic Italian and very repetitive and also often cool to cold. At the time of our holiday the hotel was mainly French and Russian, all quite rude at times. Again during our visit only one bar was open, located at the pool, although there is a second bar indoors but never open. There is a severe lack of tables and seats resulting in many sitting on the sunbeds. The bar is supposed to stay open until 24:00 but only if you're on full all-inclusive, 3 levels of all-inclusive upto 22:00, upto 23:00 and the best at 24:00. No proper snacks available at the bar unlike most other hotels. Having said that we were upgraded to the low level of all-inclusive on arrival. Our initial room had only a very limited view of garden from the balcony but generally rendered wall outside, and the air conditioning wouldn't work, apparently it is controlled from the reception, very strange, we did move to a better room with working AC. The animation team are all very young and again French, so catered for those tourists. The level of entertainment was very poor and the team appeared to think of their own enjoyment ahead of the guests. We had a hired car from the airport due to the isolated location of the hotel and we're shocked to find we also had to pay €15/day for parking, albeit due to length of our stay this was reduced to €10/day. The receptionist and assistant manager weren't very helpful at the end of our stay when asked if they had any facilities we could use to shower and change due 10:00 check out and not leaving to catch our flight until 16:30, suggested we use the pool shower, not impressed 🤬. Wouldn't recommend.

We stayed at this hotel for two weeks 16-30 September. The staff were brilliant but the hotel itself was disappointing. The poolside bar was the only place you could get drinks in the entire hotel, so when it rained you got wet just getting a cup of tea. We have never before stayed in an hotel where there was nowhere to get a drink of any kind inside the hotel building. The food choice was very limited both at breakfast time and dinner. The choice of salad and fruit was particularly poor. The quality of what was available was reasonable except for the pasta which for an Italian hotel was abysmal (Heinz do better). Also no ice cream of any sort (in Italy!!). We were supposedly on an all-inclusive package but without doubt the poorest we have experienced. No tea/coffee making facilities, no whiskey or sparkling wine of any kind, no bottled water, no packed lunches, no drinks after 10.30pm and a 5 Euro charge for beach towels. After two weeks we had really had enough.

Location - 3/10: Located in the middle of nowhere, sightseeing is out of the question without a rental car. There are no shops or restaurants nearby. Hotel - 7/10: The hotel's architecture is very nice, the pool is well-maintained, and there are plenty of sunbeds available. Kitchen - 1/10: Breakfast was very poor quality, with no choice, the same thing every day, stale bread, at most one type of cold cuts and cheese, 1-2 egg dishes, where the scrambled eggs were made with liquid, not fresh eggs. Dirty cups for instant coffee. The food was terrible. Room - 6/10: Preserved in an old building from the 1990s, clean and tidy, but very poor soundproofing, and you could hear everything from other rooms.
