Arena Castillo Apartments

We have just returned from a fantastic one-week self-catering family holiday at Arena Castillo, travelling with our two boys, and we honestly couldn't have asked for much more. Before we arrived, we contacted the hotel directly and were delighted to stay in a large pool view family apartment, which made a real difference to our holiday. We also arranged a late checkout on our final day, which was well worth doing and made our departure much more relaxed. Our family apartment was perfect for what we needed. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and serviced every day by the housekeeping team, who did an excellent job throughout our stay. Our terrace overlooked the pool and was a great place to enjoy a cup of tea with breakfast. The apartment had air conditioning in the main living area and a large fan in the separate bedroom, which kept the room comfortable, along with blackout blinds that helped everyone get a good night's sleep. One thing that really stood out was the staff. Every member of the team was friendly and welcoming. From the reception staff who organised everything before and during our stay, to the housekeeping team and the maintenance staff, the service was first class. We had a small issue with one of the toilet flushes, and it was repaired incredibly quickly. A very special mention must go to Maria and Antonio from the entertainment team. They absolutely made the holiday for our family. Their energy, enthusiasm and constant interaction with both adults and children was brilliant. Our two boys loved every activity, and it was clear just how hard they worked throughout the day. Although there isn't any evening entertainment, Maria and Antonio were undoubtedly the highlight of our stay and are a real credit to the hotel. They treated us like their friends rather than hotel guests and made a genuine effort to learn and remember everyone's names, which made every activity feel personal. The famous Mojito Game was a huge hit (keep it up, guys! 🍹😂), and our youngest son, Harry, still talks about Antonio lifting him onto his shoulders while he was in goal during the water polo! Moments like these show they genuinely go above and beyond what's expected of them. Thank you both for helping create memories our family will never forget!! The pool area was excellent. Despite visiting during a busy period, there was never a mad rush for sunbeds, which made for a much more relaxing holiday. The pool bar served good drinks at very reasonable prices, with a large beer (Amstel) costing €4. The snacks were also very good. The only suggestion we'd make would be to have an extra member of staff serving at busy times, as service could occasionally be a little slow. A few additional chairs around the pool bar would also be welcome, although we appreciate space is limited. The rooftop bar was another lovely feature, serving excellent cocktails with fantastic views over the resort. Our only disappointment was that it didn't open in the evenings, as it would have been a wonderful place to relax after dinner. The location is superb. Everything is within easy walking distance on relatively flat ground, making it ideal for families. There are countless bars, cafés and restaurants nearby, giving you plenty of choice if you're self-catering like we were. Fado Rock Steak House served a great T-Bone Steak. Baku Smash Burger was also another family favourite. If you're looking for a bargain pint, Studs Bar is only a short walk away and serves a nice pint of Tropical for just €2.50!! We were there for some of the World Cup and the Hotel’s Rock Bar was a brilliant place to watch the England match (Vs Norway). The atmosphere was fantastic, with plenty of TVs and fans creating a brilliant match-day experience. Service was a little slow, but that's understandable given how busy it was. One of the unexpected highlights of the week was the craic we had with some of the other guests around the pool. A big shout out to Leo and Brad, who made the daily games of Sjoelen (Dutch shuffleboard) surprisingly competitive and provided plenty of laughs throughout the holiday! The hotel is also incredibly convenient, being only around 10-15 minutes from the airport, with taxis costing approximately €15, making transfers quick and stress-free. Overall, Arena Castillo exceeded our expectations. Clean, comfortable apartments, outstanding staff, an excellent pool area and a fantastic location all combined to give us a memorable family holiday. Most of all, we'll remember the incredible effort put in by Maria and Antonio, who made every day fun for us and the kids. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Arena Castillo to other families and will hopefully be returning ourselves in the future. A lovely hotel, atmosphere so chilled, very friendly staff, lots of entertainment if thats your thing but quiet rooftops if you want a bit of peace and quiet, we laid in the pods by the pool table every day the linen on them was changed every day they have a large cleaning team, it is handily placed near shops coast and resteraunts was worried it was going to be noisy but you could hear a pin drop, im so sad ive left but will be back november.

The Hotel Arena Castillo in Caleta De Fuste, is ideal if you want a self catering base in Fuerventura. The airport is only 15 mimutes drive away and Caleta de Fuste is an ideal base on the east coast if you plan on exploring the rest of the island by rental car as the south of the islands is only 1.5 hours drive, the north about 1 hour and the west coast between 30-40 minutes drive. We stayed in a family apartment which had a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a living room with double sofa bed, kitchenette and dining table and there was a toilet room and a shower room accessible off the living room. The bathrooms have hair dryers and there were wardrobes and plenty of hangers for your clothes in both bedroom and living room We had APT 3114 which was on the back of the complex and was away from the pool but you can request a room near the pool if requried when booking. The rooms were comfortable but there was only aircon in the living room and a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The rooms are quiet and have good black out curtains so we were not disturbed from outside guests but the aircon was noisy. The rooms were cleaned daily and the whole resort was clean and modern. The pool was very nice and it was always busy which meant getting a sunbed a gamble and despite the rule of the hotel that you cant reserve a sunbed by placing a towel on it, it didn't stop people from doing just that. The pool was also only open 10-6pm which we felt was a bit early to close. We didn't use the pool bar for breackfast or food but we had drinks from there a few times and the prices were reasonable at about 4 euros for a beer and 3.50 euros for a soft drink. There is a second bar on the 1st floor with sunbeds but no pool and on the 2nd floor is a small jacuzzi for 4 people which you can hire for 20 euros an hour. The hotel entrance is only a 30 second walk to the nearest bars and restaurants and a supermarket and a 10-15 minute walk to the marina and beach area. I would go again if the price was right but there are some really nice bigger hotels in the area like the Barcelo Fuerventura Mar which is all inclusive, so it is always worth shopping around.

Beautiful apartments, Excellent staff, apartments cleaned everyday, Entertainments staff excellent at encouraging visitors to participate in games during stay, A particular mention for ALBA on the entertainment staff what a personality she has & involves everyone at poolside & all around the apartments she just never stops & is always smiling, Only sad point is I believe she is being forced out of the job she loves which I think could be detrimental to the apartments & believe they could suffer because the majority of persons on holiday there always seem to ask about ALBA

Great location every member of staff friendly and helpful the cleanliness is fantastic it makes for a very enjoyable stay the adapted apartment has everything needed for a self catering holiday and if anything extra is needed then the hotel will supply if possible 😀
