FERGUS Puerto de la Cruz

Krásný udržovaný 4* hotel, usměvaví vstřícný personál....stravování na perfektní úrovni, každý si nevybere z mnoha ingrediencí kvalitních jídel, každý večer jiná specialita. Některé komentáře jsou evidentně od konkurence.....není co vytknout.....v tomto hotelu jsme už po druhé a vždy super.....čisto.

The best thing about this hotel is the lovely staff. It is generally clean but some areas need a little TLC. The food was disappointing and nowhere near the standard we've had at other hotels with the same star rating.

After reading mixed reviews we had our reservations about our booking here, but we didn't find any such problems when we stayed in early October. Reception and bar staff were all very helpful; the chefs, servers/clearers in the dining room and the housekeeping staff were all cheerful. Great choice of food at all meal times. Fantastic choice of salads. Lunch and dinner times always had freshly cooked fish and meat available (e.g. rib eye steak, pork chops, calamari, salmon, etc). . Our room was of a good size and cleaned every day. Same sheets during our 7 nights. We needed the air con on all night but it was a bit noisy. I found the bed rather firm, but my partner was fine with hers. Some of the professional entertainment was good, but some of the rest was poor. The enthusiastic animation team did their best though. We only struggled for a sunbed once around the lower pool but found space at the upper pool. People were fetching their AI drinks from the (free) lower pool bar and taking them up no problem. TIP = Don't bother taking your own pool towels when you can get them free from reception and can change them whenever you want. Just pay !0 Euro (cash) deposit and get it back when you leave. It's true that the steps back up to the hotel from the town are tiring, but so what, take a break if you need to and admire the view! No gangs of marauding school kids when we were there but there was a large group of Spanish women who imposed themselves whilst enjoying time away from their husbands! :-)

This hotel is ‘okay’ but not really the 4 star service it claims to be. I’d say the decor is tired, food (buffet style reataurant) is variable,and there are no a la carte options, and the all inclusive is not really all inclusive as it only includes a few basic drinks options , and only from one pool bar (drinks from the other you still have to pay). Most areas lack sufficient air con (even for October) and there was no heated pool option (despite what the website claims). All of them bordered on too cold for our son to use. And there’s also some silly rules for families to be aware of eg no inflatables allowed in any pool at all. If kids can’t have fun in a pool over half term, it sort of defeats the point of booking a hotel with pools for kids in my opinion, or them having a separate adult only spa at the top which families can’t access at all. What else to say? Rooms were fine, but bathroom bit tired & shower only ever ran to luke warm at best. Location was also not great, as a good 15 -20. min walk to beach / town and it’s really uphill. Again, not ideal for families or those with poor mobility. We loved Puerto de la Cruz as a place, but we wouldn’t book this place again. A mediocre stay all in all.

We had such a lovely time, such a beautiful place. We went just before the school holidays. So it was peaceful but busy at the same time. The island is absolutely stunning. There is so much to see. Loro parque is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The hotel is clean vibrant and airy. Staff were absolutely fantastic, friendly and approachable. Esther is amazing!!! The staff are definitely what makes this hotel and the atmosphere. You miss it when you go home. The food (meat mainly, could do with more cooking). More options on the special occasion nights wouldn't go a miss either. But there is a variety for most people. I was missing home when it came to meal times though. Being a tea drinker, I would prefer to have the option of having one when I felt like it, and not just morning and evenings. Maybe an option, to put a deposit on a kettle during your stay.
