We left our village at 9am and exactly 12 hours later we were checked into our room by the very helpful David. He kindly told us if we drop our cases, we could manage a much needed dinner as the restaurant was still serving. We were half board plus, which meant we could have a drink with our evening meal. The food in general was decent, you certainly had lots of choice. I don’t like my food hot, therefore it suited me fine. My wife is the opposite, so some dishes she struggled with. The restaurant can be a bit manic and noisy! We had breakfast at 10am when it was quieter. Dinner was just not as mental around 9pm. We did have quite a serious issue during our holiday and it’s been mentioned on previous reviews. From March through to June the Hotel accepts parties of students. This is totally understandable because the Hospitality Industry these days needs every penny it can get. However, some of the children were running wild through the corridors at silly o’clock! The hotel tried their best to police it but it was a thankless task. We complained a few times and fortunately our last few nights were quite peaceful. The hotel is situated on a bit of a hill and definitely not suited for people with walking difficulties. There is a regular shuttle bus and taxis run regularly and cost around €5 each way. Our room was spotless and a decent standard. Unfortunately although front facing you’re limited to only a few hours of sunshine a day. I must admit the staff in the hotel are very pleasant, hard working and friendly. Maria on reception was brilliant, she tried so hard to help us out whenever she could. This included a room change due to aforementioned noise at night. Our weather during our 10 day break wasn’t great, we only made the pool once. We knew what we were coming to mind you because it’s been the same on our previous 2 visits in summer and autumn. Puerto De La Cruz is a beautiful town but unfortunately being in the North of the island the weather can be very changeable. The Fergus Hotel is very nice and offers good value for money. We might not return to this area, purely down to the weather. As I’ve said earlier, that’s three times we’ve been in PDLC and the weather has been very mixed to say the least.
I had a good experience in this hotel but i wouldn’t say it’s a 4 star hotel. It’s a good location 15 walk to the beach lots of shops around too. If you don’t like walking this is not the hotel for you as there are massive hills to get to anything. The room was clean and nice. The staff was very nice and kind. The food was mid im not a fussy eater but i didn’t enjoy it. I did enjoy the breakfast tho it was lovely. If you want to come here for a quite time defo not the hotel for you , as there was school trips and it was just very loud all the time especially in the morning and at night. If you eat past 7.30 all the children are eating and you can’t find anywhere to eat plus can’t even get to the food. There are 3 Bars which is food and 2 pools but the pools are FREEZING so we barely went in it which was annoying. But my whole experience as a whole was good !
The hotel is clean but in a very quiet area in the North of the Island..It is on a very very steep hill to the beach (which isn't very nice and is black sand). Not really suitable for people who have poor mobility or children even the younger ones got a taxi back up the hill. The food is ok but repetitive and often cold, ie the chips etc. The restaurant is open for snacks at certain times but the food is left out and cold and dry..Timing is key as the hotel is full of noisy Spanish school kids and the restaurant can be chaotic when they are in. The evening entertainment is poor. Apart from the two social reps who are lovely the rest of the staff are not really over friendly and the pool lifeguards are over zealous with the whistle. The 'heated' pool is freezing and the other pool does not have an all inclusive bar. There are no kettles in the room and if you want to borrow one it's 12 euro ( they don't advertise this). If you hire a car and want to use their car park it's 15 euro a day? They don't turn on the coffee machines for the evening meal. We booked with Hays travel and it was an easyJet holiday but there were no reps and the minibus that picked us up to take us to our hotel made a terrible high pitched screech the entire journey ( 1.5hrs) to our accomodation..When we commented that this was unpleasant to the driver she said 'its better than walking! We paid far too much for this holiday and 10 days is too long. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. .
Unknown man walked into my room while I was asleep…. I booked this hotel for a week long holiday with my family, I was in a room on my own as a young female and my other family members had another room next door. On the last morning (12/05/26) at 7:40am (ish) I was asleep in bed when I heard the door open and the light was turned on. I instantly sat up and called out. A Middle aged man who didn’t speak English was in my room. When he saw me he said something and walked out. As he was walking out the room I could hear him talking to someone else in the hall way. I pulled myself together and went next door to my parents room and told them what had happened (the man was no where to be seen by this time) We went straight down to reception and asked to talk to the hotel manager. There was no manage on site. The reception staff said we could come back between 8:30am and 9am and talk to the manager. By this time I’m crying at reception from shock and anger. The lady at reception didn’t ask if I was okay or reassure me it would get sorted. I headed back up to the room to get dress and wait for the manager. At 9am I walked out of my room to head back to reception as I opened the door a maintenance man was outside my room tampering with the room lock. I asked him when he was doing but he didn’t have good English but I got he was looking at who had used a key on the door. I went down to reception at 9am and was told the manager was in a meeting with the staff from reception I had first talked to. The staff member come back to the desk and the manager walked out and walked past me and my mum and started talking to more staff. I feel the manager should had acknowledged us straight away. The staff from the restaurant area then came out the the desk and was also talking about the situation. I feel like this shouldn’t have been discussed with staff that didn’t need to know or worked in a different department. After 4 staff member and the manager talking and not acknowledging us the manager finally told us to follow her. She didn’t shake our hands or introduce herself. She took us to the sofa area in the main reception area and spoke to us there. There was no privacy as everyone in reception could hear us. I explained what had happened and she said the only thing she could do is check the room lock login system. I asked to see the computer while she did this as was told no. She said she would print it out. I explained I wanted to see it on the computer as she saw it to ensure nothing was being deleted but again she said no. She came back with a print out of the room lock login system sheet. She said she couldn’t see that anyone had entered the room at 7:40am (ish) she could only see the logs on me leaving the room the room to get mum mum and then reentering the room. They couldn’t see anyone else had used a key to enter. I asked if they could check their computer system to see how many keys had access to the room, the manager wouldn’t do this. I asked if anyone had been check in and she said no the staff hadn’t check anyone in, I asked about the staff on the shift before and she didn’t know the answer to this. We had a bit of back and forth of my explaining I believed she had deleted information and I wanted to see the security camera. The manager said they didn’t have security cameras. The manager then went on the say she believes what had happened was my fault as she thinks I had left the door open or I had lost a key and someone had picked it up. (Even if I had left the door a crack open people shouldn’t have been entering) I explained I only ever had one key as a single person in the room and also as a single young female in the room there is no way I left the door open. I explain if I had lost a key the person who had picked it up wouldn’t have known what room it was for as it doesn’t have room numbers on. The manager just kept saying it was because the door wasn’t shut. I tried to explain the door wasn’t open and I hadn’t lost a key. I explained that someone must have been given a key and told the room number for them to have get into the room as I would never try to open a door of the number that wasn’t my room. I asked the manager where do we go from here as she clearly thinks I’m lying and I’m not and she said ‘nothing we can do’. I am beyond angry at this situation and glad I’m leaving on the day this happened. I will be telling everyone to stay away from this awful hotel and manager. The manager was unprofessional, didn’t care and I believe deleted some information. Ruined my holiday as I feel unsafe in the hotel. I still do not know the managers name. Also the hotel had an arrangement with school. Every few days a group of 30 school children and teachers arrive. The children are very noisy and rude in the buffet restaurant area, when they are allowed pool time they are jumping on the beds and splashing people. The turn around on school kids in constant and will always be children on the hotel.
