FERGUS Puerto de la Cruz

Krásný udržovaný 4* hotel, usměvaví vstřícný personál....stravování na perfektní úrovni, každý si nevybere z mnoha ingrediencí kvalitních jídel, každý večer jiná specialita. Některé komentáře jsou evidentně od konkurence.....není co vytknout.....v tomto hotelu jsme už po druhé a vždy super.....čisto.

Beautiful greenery and sites from the rooms. Fresh bedding 5 days out of our 7 day stay, same with towels. Pool staff told my daughter off for having a floating flamingo in the pool, yet allowed 2 adult Spanish women to have floating beds/lilos and a young Spanish girl having a large ring float. Pool staff unfriendly to British people. Good food selection, but stays mostly the same throughout your stay. Reception staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Rooms are small. Not enough info on hotel offerings, such as the Solarium, Terrace, upper areas of the hotel. Very welcoming atmosphere, but leave the reception area and speak English, and the welcoming atmosphere fades quicker than a British summer

Would absolutely recommend this hotel, the staff are all so lovely and helpful, the pools are incredible and have a great vibe, the food is good - definitely something for everyone. I went with my boyfriend and we loved it. We went out in the evenings but there was always entertainment on when we got back, the room was great and had a lovely view of the main pool and mountains. Just a quick point to note: the hotel is located on a big hill, it's fairly close to everything like the town, mall and beach but you will have to hike up some stairs on your way back (although I think they do offer a free shuttle)! Otherwise, I have no complaints. Wonderful holiday and the hotel definitely played a part in how great of a time we had!

I will start with the positives before moving onto the negatives, as most of the stay was absolutely lovely! Me and my boyfriend booked The Fergus for a nice 5 day break away out of school term time and away from the party area. In terms of the area, it is in North Tenerife which is around an hour away from the South where the party areas are. You can get a taxi/shuttle bus down there most points of the day, so if you want to spend a day there, its very accessable. With Puerto De La Cruz it was a lovely area to stay in, plenty of bars and resturants which stayed open late, supermarkets and shopping centre. The Beach from where we stayed was around a 15 minute walk downhill but TONS of steps walking back. I would take this into consideration if you struggle with hills/steps. We ended up going out for dinner 2 nights of the 4 nights despite being all inclusive. I would highly recomend a resturant called Zigatela which was just incredible. The staff were very polite and food was very tasty. Now onto the hotel itself. We were very lucky to be upgraded to the 7th floor which was a great surprise. The room was spacious and VERY CLEAN, the balcony looking over the sea was beautiful to watch the sunsets from. We also had the luxary of having a roof top area on the 7th floor, exclusive to those staying on the 7th floor only. This had Bali beds on and access to canned soft drinks at all points of the day. This for me as someone who doesnt really drink was a bonus. There was also two pools, the ground floor one which had pool activities, pool bar and sunbeds, then level two had another pool which was far more chilled, more sunbeds and another bar (this one wasnt all inclusive, but most got drinks from pool 1 and walked back to pool 2) At pool two, there was also an upstairs area, which had Bali beds and more sun beds. We never struggled to get a sunbed on Pool 2 but did on Pool 1, so depending where you want to be, id take this into consideration. Now despite this, there was two issues we faced. The first being the food. Ive seen many reviews stating the food was good, so not sure if we were just VERY unlucky. For two people who are not fussy either, we STRUGGLED to find food we would enjoy. Ended up eating pasta and chips the entire time. On one of the days, for lunch, we had hotdogs which were nice. However, on another day, there was chicken skewers. Both me and my Boyfriend had these, HOWEVER my boyfriends one was NOT COOKED at all, the entire skewer on one side was completely RAW. Im talking not even touched the heat. This put us off our food so badly, which was the reason we ended up eating out at resturant for dinner the remainder of the holiday. The other point, which i have since seen more reviews about is the school kids. When i tell you, they are EVERYWHERE i mean EVERYWHERE. When we first arrived at the hotel, they flooded the lobby and bar seating area, leaving no where for guests to sit whilst they wait to check in. As well as this, they treated the buffet like a school canteen. Rude, pushing past guests, loud and just disrespectful to other guests. When speaking with other guests who had been there a week prior to us, the kids had been there the whole time, staying on floors 1 - 3.. so if you are put on one of these floors, good luck trying to sleep. A couple we made friends with, actually requested to move floors as the noise at night was so bad. So for us, wanting a quiet trip away, this part just was not enjoyable at all. Overall, unfortunately, we would not come back again, which is such a shame as we have stayed in Fergus hotels before and they have been lovely.

We received advance notice from Jet2 that school groups would be present at our hotel only during the final two days of our stay, that they would be located on a separate floor, and would dine at different times. None of this was true. Large groups of schoolchildren were present throughout our entire stay, spread across multiple floors, and shared meal times with all other guests. Their presence created a noisy and chaotic environment, particularly around the pool and during mealtimes. The restaurant was frequently overwhelmed. Food stations were stripped quickly, and we often had to wait for fresh supplies to be brought out. On one occasion, the restaurant was closed temporarily to prevent further entry due to overcrowding from the school parties. We expected a family-friendly hotel, not one overrun by unsupervised teenagers with little to no control from supervising adults or staff. As a result, we chose to eat out most evenings to avoid the chaos, despite having paid for all-inclusive dining. This significantly impacted our holiday enjoyment and value for money.
