Sol Arona Tenerife

We visited this hotel when it was the Princessa Dacil. We returned many times and various name changes we realised it was getting 'tired'. This is the year we decided to give It another chance and we wasn't disappointed. The much needed renovation is superb. The rooms are very light and airy and include a top of the market smeg fridge and various high end items. A safe is included without extra cost and the fans have disappear to be replaced by efficient air con. The dining room is lovely with bright furnishings and well spaced tables. The food was good, plenty of choice and various options to meet every taste. The pool bar was usually quite busy so you needed patience at times. It was well worth the wait with generous shots of vodka and fabulous mohitoes. Our 9 year old loved the table tennis which was outside and the pool which was inside. The position of the hotel has always been good, near to the beach, restaurants and shops. The staff were lovely and met all our needs with a smile! We shall definitely return.

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at Sol Arona. The hotel has been recently renovated and is stylish and clean throughout. Staff were all extremely friendly, from reception, to cleaners to restaurant and so helpful too, the kids entertainers were fantastic. Food was absolutely fine for us, breakfast great and dinner too, meats, fish, vegetables, rice, salads, we ate well every night. If you are picky you would likely struggle as the only beige options were the same every night, plain pasta or pizza and chips every night. The pool was lovely and warm, my only criticism is that the floor around the pool needs some TLC as there are holes in it and a few raised areas of the concrete that are not highlighted at all and I saw almost every guest trip on them. Just a short walk to the sea front and some amazing bars and restaurants. Overall we prefer Adeje as a resort but still had a good time in Los Cristianos trying new places and it’s not too far away. Only 8 euros in a taxi to Adeje from Sol. There is a hyperdino supermarket just 2 mins walk from the hotel with all the essentials. If you walk a bit further there are plenty more. We paid extra for a sea view and were put on floor 10, it was a great view over the sea and pool area. We would definitely stay here again if we returned to Los Cristianos.

Excellent time. Been coming here for 30 years and meet many other regulars. Was closed for 12 months for update. We thought only modernisation needed was showers instead of baths and new furniture and sports bar restored to bar instead of noisy games room. However when entering reception both of us said WOW. What a lovely place. Dining room and bar smashing. Rooms are really nice and showers fitted and all new furniture. Our main concern was would it be all new staff due to 12 months closed. Did not need to worry, entering reception and greeted straight away by the lovely Fiorella. In bar was Fernando and in Dining room were Adrian, Yirko and others. Most of staff were still there and new staff are also excellent. Whoever recruits the staff needs a Gold Medal. There are plenty of activities for young and older customers. Loads of brand new sunbeds and umbrellas. Only downside for us was the meals. After years of lovely diverse meals and chef doing live cooking of fish and meat we were a bit disappointed with new system. However main problem is that nearly all younger people from all countries go straight for burgers and pizzas so all nice joints of meat get neglected. So if you want the lovely meat and nice veg that is still hot you need to go to eat as soon as restaurant opens. Go in later and same joint of meat and veg are still there but lukewarm. I can only ask- why go all the way to Tenerife and stay in a lovely hotel and just eat burgers. At lunchtime most of the all inclusives did not come into restaurant but got food from pool bar-guess what- yes burgers and chips. This is a lovely hotel and excellent friendly staff. Plenty to do for kids and the kids pool now has slides as well.

The Hotel itself was ok. Newly renovated. Rooms were a good size. However I got food poisoning and my headphones were stolen from my room by a cleaner. When we went to complain the staff were very unhelpful. It really ruined our trip.
