TUI BLUE Atlantic Hills

We stayed 4 weeks Feb- March. We had a lovely stay, despite some rainy days but initially we were a bit annoyed by the inaccurate Tui description of their own hotel as there is NO tabletennis, only 1 pool that u can swim in (unless u pay extra) and a lovely pool table which was not mentioned! Room: Lovely big shower but shower screen too small which meant wet floor every time used. Large Comfy bed and good quality sheets and towels. Cleaning - excellent. Inadequate storage (see other reviews)- 1 drawer!!! Lovely to see parakeets, hoopoes, ibis, heron, canaries, hawks etc from balcony and around. Food: buffet breakfast good. Evening meal had great selection of fish, some meat but was let down by frozen over cooked vegetables on several nights. Also drinks menu only had tiny bottles of water/ sparkling water. Please can you do large bottles? A great selection of nuts, seeds and lovely cheese some nights. The Tui blue activities and fitness: Marie, Dora and the team were lovely, informative and very helpful. We enjoyed the selection of walks very much, also the crafts, activities and fitness programme. The cooking class was a particular highlight thanks to the knowledge and passion for local canary food of chef (Jeremy?). Outside the hotel: Taoro Park next to hotel was great and flat to walk around day and night (as lit up). We’d recommend catching a bus to La Octavia, cheap, easy and so much to see when get there. We thought it was far nicer than La Laguna. Walk to Botanic Gardens: lovely and shady when u get there on a hot day. Both Alberto’s bar and Terazzo Taoro easy to walk to and very friendly if u want to avoid the steps down to town. The Tui trip to Anaga was highly recommended as it covered so many areas and the guide (Neil, who was excellent) drove via some very windy narrow roads to show us the huge beautiful other worldly prehistoric Laurel forest. The scenery at the remote beach at Taganana made us feel like we were in Hawaii!

We are here right now. A lovely peaceful and friendly hotel. The food has been of really high quality with lots of choice and flavours to discover. Friendly staff and very clean. Yes it’s up the hill; we knew this before we came and have enjoyed the walks up and down the through the park. Amazing views when you are here. Also burns off those calories! Drinks that are v reasonably priced for a hotel. Gorgeous pools which are warm for this time of year- no gasps! I would thoroughly recommend.

The hotel was very nice, friendly staff and good food in the buffet. A tasty à la carte meal in The Culinarium restaurant No indoor pool unless you pay €20 per session at the Spa and Wellness Club No cupboard/ drawer to store clothes in room, only a clothes rail and hangers No shuttle bus to the town so if you are not fit to walk up/down steps or hills you’ll struggle. Taxis available

Just come home to the UK after 2 weeks at this hotel. It's brilliant! Really bright, clean hotel with amazing views. Guests need to be aware that it's high up, overlooking the town - but it's walkable down to Puerto de la Cruz, either by walking down 230 steps OR simply by walking down the snaking pathway - just walk past the steps! Literally take 10/15 minutes OR by taxi! Costs just under five euros to or from the hotel to the town (one way). We walked down many times & got a taxi back (plentiful all times of the day). We were Half Board & found the choice & quality of food to be really good. As per previous comments, some of the food wasn't very hot - but we learnt to take plates from the hot plate, dig deep for the hottest veg etc & get freshly cooked 'show cooking' food or freshly made omelette (breakfast) or pasta dishes. One 'criticism' is that there are 3 x jacuzzi accessible to all (2 on the 5th floor & 1 on the 9th) but it's a clumsy, risky business getting in or out if them - there is no handrail. Oh..and the pool table - we used it loads but it's falling apart & needs either refurbishing or replacing. The staff are honestly wonderful - from the housekeeper, to the bar staff, to the receptionists, to the waiting staff..& even the very visible 'hands on' manager! Special mentions to Juan Pedro (who popped in in both bars & also the restaurant- such a nice man, great rapport with the guests & couldn't do enough to help); Eduardo in the restaurant who was the busiest, most industrious member of staff we met - he never stopped, yet still had time to smile & chat); but there are so many people that work there that made our holiday so wonderful, I just can't remember all of their names. Pool was great. Infinity pool was excellent. We went on holiday to switch off & relax after a challenging few months in our lives. Hotel suited our needs perfectly. It's about 1hr 45mins by coach from Tenerife South Airport. It's close to Mt Teide - great views from rooms on one side of the hotel (not the pool view side). I can imagine that some younger people might find the hotel/resort boring & remote. We absolutely loved it! We'd definitely go back for a return visit...

Up on the hills means you get that mountain air feel in the mornings. The sea view from the infinity pool is what day dreams are made of. On the other side is a view of snow topped Mount Tiede. Everything in the hotel has been renovated and is fresh and clean. The hotel has a varied activities program and the team are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There is a lovely locals park next door and it was a 20 min walk to the town and beach. We loved the location, as we prefer peace and tranquility. The hotel offers evening entertainment, so there was always someting to do. Food was varied and amazing. A lovely stay.
