Golden Coast Hotel & Bungalows

Ok so overall this is a decent hotel in terms of the bigger picture. In a nutshell, the rooms were clean. Food was cooked well and general hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our time away but definitely would not return nor recommend to anyone unless you speak fluent french or are not interested in being included. We went Aug so peak season. The kids club always looked closed, there was a small on site park but couldn't seem to access it unless part of kids club, which of course never seemed open. There was also some kind of pool snack/grill area marked on the map which was never open. Or we couldnt find it. Daytime pool snacks were sparce and not what we usually experience. There were things like samosas or fried zuchini balls and although some were nice they were hit and miss as to when they were there and not really filling or anything not deep fried. Previous hotels we have been to would have a little salad station or rolls, meats and cheeses or even chips for the kids but this wasn't available. Gyros by the pool was greatly missed. We had one of the bungalows which was dated and tired, it was clean though and had a little kitchen area and table so was a larger space but as all inclusive wasnt really required. The food was a fair selection not the biggest i have seen but equally feel it covered all the bases so everyone found something they liked, some evenings had so many delicious items and generally it was all cooked so well and replenised often. My daughter has an allergy and they were very helpful for that. Drinks were poor, the coke and lemonade was really sickly like the cheapest yukkiest type not what i have experienced at other 4 stars, and a limited selection of spirits included. I think as this isnt a solely all inclusive hotel they reserved alot as being a paid for choice, which is disappointing. This was our first time in experiencing catapault toweling at the pool sides. Very odd, clearly not enough beds available as this is the main pool smaller kids can be in and it is fenced off, which in turn then restricts the amount of beds around the pool and walking area. However the pool by the beach also had this fencing and saw queues there too. Day one we experienced the weird queueing along the fencing, once the lifeguards key turned it the padlock GOOOOOO lob your belongings over the fences to get your beds. Funny to watch, just unnecessary, i don't know why some hotels just dont seem to have enough beds available. There is a small crazy golf area which was fine to pass some time. There was also a nice indoor area with chairs and bar in the main hotel but that always seemed closed too which is odd as August i would have thought would be one of their busiest times? The pool by the beach seemed to have a lot of activity during the day. I think the animation team box was there so perhaps where they are based as we didnt see them at the other pools but this one they were near was too deep for our children. Now the biggest disappointment was the animation team. Not one of the team came to engage with us nor our children at any point. In the evenings the whole entertainment programme was in French. This is the first time i have been to an all inclusive hotel in an area where there isnt much else to do, especially in the evening, and to have the entire programme in one language. The animation team spoke english but it was like it was beneath them to engage with you. We watched on 3 nights to see them laughing and joking with the French guests, including them specifically in the games and activities and ignoring others, even the children. I asked a question one day about the programme of events and got a half hearted grunted answer. This alone made me feel unwelcome enough to not ever return. We are all paying guests and with this being in a rather remote area, unless you want to get a cab into town of an evening which isnt ideal with children to just sit at a bar, it was missed that they had nothing to participate in. The dinner start time was on the later side also which then clashed with the kids music bits. There appeared to be swimming lessons available again i only saw one of the team speaking to 3 families about it, whether they had enquired or not i dont know. But all 3 were French and i saw nothing being advertised about it being available, i only know she was teaching as i heard her rudely tell some young children to stop playing in the shallow end of the pool where she was as she was teaching a swim lesson. There were some live music acts round by the beach bar on a few evenings which were lovely to listen to, albeit not necessarily my music taste but gave the night a nice relaxing holiday vibe. I really must point out the fitness team were great and welcoming though so i would like to distinguish between the two guys who run the aqua aerobics and fitness programme as they were really lovely and welcoming to all nationalitites. Overall we took our own card games, had fun in the pool and enjoyed time as a family but wouldnt consider returning as overall it didn't tick our boxes.

Staff food and room excellent 👌 the restaurant manager Rabi was super knowledgeable and helpful with our evening wine selection and made us feel extremely special every day. The beach and promenade outside the hotel is a beautiful place you can watch the sun rise over the sea if you like an early start. There are other restaurants and bars in walking distance if you like a daily stroll, very clean and beautiful location 🙏🏻

We stayed at the hotel in September. Hotel room was nice enough and the view of the sea was absolutely lovely. It would be better if they provided a kettle to make some drinks. Food was good on the whole. We hired bikes one day and my husband was taken ill. A manager from a local beach bar helped and called the hotel and the hotel was absolutely wonderful- organising for the bikes to be picked up and for a taxi to come and take us to the local clinic. The taxi driver was the most wonderful woman who stayed with me for a while as I waited and then came back to pick us up. She was so kind. I don’t know her name but can’t thank her enough.

The nicest thing about this resort is the lobby when you walk in it looks lovely but when you go up the stairs it gets worse every level … very run down . Our balcony was full Of Pigeon poop and there were some Kind of bird house all Over the roof ledge .. we also saw alot of bats flying around that probably lives in there too … . The beach was beautiful and a nice board walk . The amenities were not good . Food was mediocre and the way people served themselves in the buffet was disgustingly very poor etiquette . Dishes were not very clean and the dishes used to serve snack and tapas in the main lobby looked like something from 1980 very old and dirty looking . People smoking everywhere . The room Was at best 2/5 and the hallways were full Of stained floors and damaged doors etc . Very very rundown . I would not stay here again . If I had to stay more than 2 nights I wouldve left and went somewhere else . Coming from a Canadian who has travelled all over the world I am confused as to why anyone wouldRate this anything more than a 2. The outdoor seating was run down torn up and things were not well Kept at all .. I also felt The staff were very unfriendly at times and they didn’t understand English well at all . The things my kids enjoyed most were snorkeling and walking the boardwalk looking for the stray cats around .. and there were lots of them . We Won’t be back to this resort .

The weather was not perfect for exploring the area as it was rainy, and for this reason we spent most of our time at the hotel. It's a large hotel, perhaps a little dated, but we were able to find lots of things to do and enjoy ourselves. As I love food, I can say the food was pretty nice, but I would also like to thank Eleni, at the restaurant, especially, because she was very warm and helpful. She provided us with information we needed so we could see some neighboring areas when the weather permitted. But just being around her warmth and beautiful energy made our holiday lovely.
