Marathon Beach Resort

POSITIVES - good location, lots of restaurants nearby. Good size pool with sun all day. Rooms are clean, modern design, well kept hotel. Lifeguard if you have children. Pool towels (but you need to leave a €20 cash deposit) Has air conditioning. NEGATIVES - no dead lock on the door. The first room I was in had no dead lock from the inside or safety deposit box. I was told that maintenace would come but they didn't. Called again and they moved my room. Still no dead lock but had a safety deposit box. I was told the doors do not need a dead lock. I just wanted to feel safe as a solo traveler but they laughed it off and said thevdoor is fine. Didn't feel safe with this so wedged a chair with weight on it by the door. Customer service is poor. Asked to be shown how to use the safety deposit box and they said just put in the pin...I said I don't have a pin, I am new here - still not shown how to use it so I took all my valuables with me everyday. Rooms under construction left open when no builders are in there (not safe if you have children) I had no toilet paper, called reception to ask for some. They said wait for the cleaners. I waited an hour. Called again, same thing. I gave up and went walking around to find the cleaners myself. The hotel looks lovely and pool is nice but the customer service was poor and I did not feel safe here. Stay somewhere else in the area because the area is lovely.

Awful hotel full of locals arriving in cars to use the pool of a weekend.No chance of getting a sunbed.Birthday parties held round the pool for locals.water supply off for approx 4 hours no toilets or showers or drinks at breakfast on the saturday.we were not informed by staff.kids pool dirty with bugs floating in it.Rooms not cleaned ,just sheets put on the end of our beds to make ourselves.Lots of noise from the street outside full of local teenagers.No nice seating in reception.No lifts to the first 2 floors so you have to carry your cases up 4 flights of stairs.Worst hotel weve stayed in .Avoid

If you want to get a good night's sleep do not stay here. There is a bar right next to the hotel which blares music out until after 12pm. Besides that the street it's on is filled with screaming teenagers that sit in the road at night screaming at each other and causing trouble. Every night of our 4 night stay was the same. Apparently the police cannot be called until after 11pm. The staff are nice that's about it.

After the canceling of our flight our group of 44 Belgians was very confused and tired.. We got a warm welcome in the hotel by a very friendly staff, a nice room, a fresh drink and a late lunch. In the nice garden we could have a tasteful diner. In the next morning they even opened the breafast earlier. Thank you for this great service. Top!

Our stay at Marathon Beach Resort was unfortunately a letdown from the start. We booked a half-board package for our family of five, including three children, but the experience did not match the promise. Upon arrival, we were crammed into a single, small suite with two extra beds, leaving no space for our belongings. The room oddly had no cupboards, forcing us to live out of our bags. Toilets are cramped and the floor tilt is wrong which makes the entire bathroom wet after shower. The "half-board" dinner was a major issue. We were given vouchers for off-site restaurants a 5-7 minute walk away, which was not ideal with young children. The vouchers were extremely limited just one wrap and one starter per person—and we were even charged for water and salad. On one occasion, a salad listed on the voucher menu was billed to us, with staff claiming the small charge was "faint" on the menu, which felt very dishonest. The hotel also advertised a spa, but when my partner tried to book a manicure, she was directed to a private, off-site salon, which made her uncomfortable. The advertised services—from the half-board meals to the "spa"—were not as promised. We ended up spending a lot more money than expected due to the hotel's misrepresentations. The area is close to the beach but the beach is not very good. It's busy with people so you can't find space easily. Also good luck finding a cab to take you anywhere. Literally none. Had to pay 100 Euros to go to city one way. We cannot recommend this hotel.
