Ammes Hotel & Apartments

We had an amazing week here from start to finish, the weather, the rooms, the staff we couldn’t fault it. The owner was lovely. Rooms are large and clean and we were lucky enough to have a room on the first floor at the front with fantastic sea views. We spent our days round the pool where there are always plenty of sun beds, a nice pool to take a refreshing dip and watch the airplanes as they come into land which was for us a highlight. At 12 pm George and Isabella opened the bar and what a great couple always pleasant, chatty, fun and made us feel at home straight away serving up nice cold beers and at lunchtime good food with good a choice of toasted sandwich’s, baguettes etc and fries to keep us going until the evening and we were always treated to an ice cream afterwards such a nice thought not experienced before. Milo’s literally next door was great to with lovely sunsets, good food and friendly staff. We ate here 4 nights as it was the best we went to by far and on our final night we were given little porcelain yacht’s as a farewell gift a lovely gesture. If you are looking for a very relaxed quiet week away in the sun we highly recommend Ammes - just go.

This was booked as a last minute getaway and was a welcome break for our family. We received a warm welcome when we arrived by the owners and were shown to our room - an upstairs studio apartment. There was a balcony with a little table and chair set with a side view of the sea. The apartment itself is basic but functional. It was also spotlessly clean and was cleaned each day with fresh towels brought. The pool area has a number of sunbeds around (no need to be reserving them!) and was cleaned each night. The hotel itself is in a great location; right across from the beach and the mini market and restaurants in easy reach. We visited o’milos, Fois restaurant, la Calma and the grill house while we were there - would highly recommend all of them. We also got the bus into Argostoli at a cost of €2 each to see the turtles at the marina. It’s also a short 10 minute transfer although closer to the airport than expected. My children loved guessing which plane was coming over the pool! The pool bar is excellent and the couple that run this are lovely; nothing is too much trouble. They made some of the best pizzas we have had! Downsides: the rooms need a drastic upgrade. I expected them to be basic however a lick of paint and new furniture/kitchen area is definitely needed. Overall, we had a lovely stay!

We have stayed twice at the Amnes 2024, 2025 and booked to return again next year 2026. A very friendly family run apartment hotel. Nicely situated on the coast road of Svoronata with beaches, bars and Taverna's nearby as is the capital Argostilli and there is a local bus service It's close to the airport and planes fly over quite low during the day, good for plane spotters and actually quite fun as planes dont fly late at night so you wont get disturbed. A real bonus of the proximity to the airport (we book direct with both the hotel and Greekstones car hire independently) is the Amnes is little more than 5mins away by car and Greekstones are just accross the road from the airport making airport arrival and transfer an absolute breeze. We have had the same 1st floor room on each visit, which is a generous size and nice big balcony with picturesque sea view. The rooms are typically Greek basic but with an especially comfortable double bed, twin ring "kwzinaki", kettle and a big fridge freezer, utensils are a bit limited (could do with a toaster so we bought a cheap one) but proved adequate with a bit of improvisation for the couple of occasions we just felt like chilling the evening on the lovely balcony. The room is kept spotlessly clean daily by the hardworking staff, special mention to Julie. A very special mention must go to Issabella and George who run the bar by the nicely kept and good sized pool. Isabella and George work hard to keep the guests happy and it shows from the number of regulars that have been returning year on year. Always a genuinely friendly and heartfelt welcome, many a good laugh is had around the bar. Isabella also does excellent made by herself tasty pizzas, baguettes, salads etc Oh, and mustn't forget a mention for Rambo the cat, he's a real sweetie. Looking forward to next year

Loved this hotel, staff are all welcoming and lovely. Great food from the pool bar George and Issabella are lovely people. Fondant at OMilos is a brilliant guy. Cleaning staff always happy and friendly. You wouldn't want more. Reception staff friendly and helpful.

Although we did not stay at the apartment we were told they were nice inside. There is a little beach down the road and the views of the sea amazing.The pool area was clean along with the pool toilets . Plenty of sun beds with parasols. The pool bar opened at 12 with a good menu choice. Food was lovely and a nice friendly couple running it. There is noise from aircraft but literally 1 plane an hour and lasts seconds, this stops at around 10 pm and then starts at around 8:30am . There are bars and restaurants dotted around and you could catch a bus up to some and then walk back as an option. We stayed 1 k away and walked here every day as our pool and pool bar was not the best. I would consider staying here if we visited the area again . If you look on google maps there is a choice of restaurants in the village . This is also a good base to travel the island the bus is 2€ anywhere and taxi is 20€ the airport is 5 minutes. Car hire available from village and boat hire from the little marina close to the hotel. We hired a car and traveled to Portos where we picked up a boat trip .we purchased this from the Portos village we had 2 stops in Ithaca and 2 swim stops views amazing. I would recommend this place
