Astra Village

We recently stayed at this hotel on a half-board basis and would like to share our experience in a constructive and respectful manner. Firstly, we would like to mention that the room itself was clean, comfortable, and well maintained throughout our stay. We did not experience any issues regarding cleanliness or housekeeping, which we appreciated. However, we felt that there were several areas within the restaurant service and catering that could benefit from improvement. At breakfast, the food selection was quite limited, with very little variety available from day to day. The fruit options were restricted to small slices of apple or orange, and there were no whole fruits such as bananas, apples, or oranges available for guests. In addition, the coffee quality did not meet expectations, as it often tasted very diluted. On the first morning, the coffee machine also appeared to have limited functionality, offering only black coffee, hot water, and milk. Although additional options such as cappuccino and latte became available from the second day onwards, the overall breakfast experience was still disappointing. Regarding dinner service, we again found the food selection rather limited, with minimal variety throughout the stay. On one evening, the chicken dish appeared undercooked, which was concerning. The dessert options were also very limited, with little variety and no fresh fruit available in the evenings. We were also disappointed with the level of attention provided during dinner service. On our first evening, staff kindly approached our table to offer drinks; however, on the following evenings, our table was repeatedly overlooked. Although staff members were present and attending other areas of the restaurant, we were rarely asked whether we would like drinks or even water. One evening, I desperately needed some water and walked towards the kitchen/service area looking for a drink. The supervisor, who had previously apologised regarding the service, saw that I was clearly looking for water. Instead of politely asking whether I would like to order a drink, she opened her arms widely and stated that drinks were not included. We found this behaviour quite inappropriate and unwelcoming, particularly given the situation. The issue was not simply whether drinks were included, but rather the lack of courtesy and attentiveness shown towards guests. Unfortunately, despite paying for a half-board package, we often chose to eat outside the hotel because the dining experience did not meet expectations. On several evenings, we went to nearby restaurants and bars to have dinner and use their facilities, resulting in additional expenses for meals that we had effectively already paid for through the hotel package. Another aspect that affected the dining experience was the presence of cats around the restaurant area, which at times became distracting during meals. In addition, as the tap water is not suitable for drinking, it would have been a thoughtful gesture to provide at least one complimentary bottle of water in the room upon arrival, particularly for guests arriving late or before having access to nearby shops. Unfortunately, no water was provided in the room, and water was also not routinely offered during meals. We believe this is a basic courtesy, especially in a destination where tap water is not drinkable. Finally, while the reception staff were polite and welcoming, we unfortunately did not experience the same friendliness or hospitality from most of the restaurant staff during our stay. Overall, while we appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of the room, we believe there is significant room for improvement in the catering variety, food quality, customer service, and overall guest hospitality. We hope this feedback is received constructively and helps enhance the experience for future guests.

Beautiful hotel! All the staff are very welcoming and helpful. The hotel and grounds are kept very well. The pool area is lovely with the best sunbeds! We will be returning!

We really enjoyed a relaxing stay . Staff are friendly helpful and welcoming. Large clean room with balcony with sea views stunning. Very comfortable bed . We had been a little concerned about some reviews prior to coming about the food. We were pleasantly suprized breakfast and dinner both had a good variety selection to choose and tasty . food was hot well presented and replenished regularly. Only small concern would be cats around when eating at meal times. Hotel, pool and gardens are all in very good clean condition. great sunbeds too. We have stayed in a few hotels in Svoronata over last few years and this is by far the best. Hotel is in a peaceful relaxing setting with local beach 10 minute walk down road and bus stop close by too. We would definitely recommend and have booked again for next year.

Not a good place for people with mobility issues, as up a steep hill, to rooms and restaurants, the food was terrible and cold, you need to book a table for evening meal, all-inclusive was a very poor show and not worth it, families had to pay extra for cots,and they would not make a child a jam sandwich at lunch time, bar prices very expensive, the owners hang around all day watching what is going on, signs say no life gaurd on duty, but there was 1, who looked at his phone all day, cleaners work hard, some bar staff were very good, 1 never smiled, we ate out 8 days out of 14, restaurant across the road was very nice, we hired a car to get about and see the island and use other restaurants, watch out for Ants they are everywhere even in the room and on the bed,even on the 2nd floor, we will not return to Astra Village, but Kefalonia is a beautiful Island, and maybe 1 day we will return.

This was a lovely hotel .nice and hard working staff .rooms very clean .sunbeds are amazing .we were all inclusive and I'm not going to lie the food was not good for a 4 star hotel .which we paid a lot of money for ..the drinks were worse .not much to choose ..the worse was when I was poured a diet coke from a litre bottle that was sitting in the sun .no good just putting ice in a small glass ...we did go out quite a few times for somewhere else to eat ... disappointed with food & drink . everything else was perfect .hats off to the gardener he made your grounds beautiful and not forgetting the many beautiful cats and kittens
