Bessie's Village

Bessie’s Village is a 2 Star accommodation in the village of Svoronata. The transfer time from the airport is about 10-15 minutes. The pool was very clean and there were plenty of sun beds. We are an adult family of six and we were in rooms B6 , D4 and D7. Our room in B6 was twin beds and a seating area just outside. The furnishings were minimal but the bed was so comfortable. The shower was powerful & we always had hot water. All the rooms were clean. D4 / D7 had a bit more furniture & were perfectly adequate. Towels and sheets changed mid week. Toilet bin emptied and floors mopped every day. No TV in the room. Basic cooking facilities if you need it ( we don’t cook on holiday). On arrival, you will need to pay the Greek Tourist Tax (€14 per room for the week) in cash. The air conditioning is also payable in cash. Occasionally , the card machine at the bar wouldn’t work so it’s good to have cash as back up. No tabs are permitted. Bessie’s is very near the airport - we loved watching the planes whizz over our heads but if this is something that would bother you, don’t book to stay here and then complain! There is some building work going on nearby but it didn’t bother us. Georgia & her family work so hard & are very welcoming. They serve really tasty food - we had lunch there every day. If you want a clean, relaxed place to stay, consider booking Bessie’s. Bessie’s probably wouldn’t suit someone who has difficulties with their mobility, although there are ramps / slopes and ground floor rooms. Thanks to Georgia & her family for making our holiday so enjoyable.

Lovely apartments, basic but very clean. My bed was not comfortable though. Lovely pool area. Everyone was very friendly. It's in a great location. About a steady 10 mins walk to the beach. Restaurants within 10 mins walk. Lovely & quiet area. The airplane noise didn't bother us. There is building work next door but this did not bother us either & we were right next to it in C6.

Great little apartments, plenty of room, kept clean, i had a terrace on the ground floor, loved seeing the planes coming in, no night flights on kefalonia so no late airport noise, nice big pool with more than enough sunbeds, great pool bar serving nice food, staff were all very friendly and helpful, would go back tomorrow if i could!

We were really happy with our stay at Bessie’s. We were welcomed on arrival by the owner Georgia and paid the €10 per night for the air conditioning and €10 total for the use of the safe - you need to pay this in cash but can use card for everything else. Our room overlooked the building works (D7) but we’re not disturbed by them at all. I was a bit anxious about noise but work didn’t start until 8:00 and noise was minimal in my opinion. Room was very clean but, as expected, basic. As in other reviews location is great and the bus stop is a short walk at the end of the drive turn left. The beach is so close and in my opinion one of the nicest I’ve been to and beds were very nice for just €20 for the day. There is no bar at this beach so we went to the supermarket and took our lunch and drinks. The pool area is lovely and clean and food and drinks were reasonably priced. Georgia and her family work incredibly hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, even putting the football in for us for the England game despite it being such a late night for her. I think with a bit of extra signage explaining that the bar stays open in the evening would entice people to go there for a drink after being out for dinner. We would definitely return to Bessie’s as it’s great value for money and a fantastic location. I was really sad to leave after the most beautiful week on a beautiful island.

Just returned from a week at Bessies Village and had a fabulous time. It is a very quiet part of the island but we personally loved that. Everything you need is within a 5 minute walk. Shop, tavernas and the beach. La Tavolata taverna and Milos were personal favourites of the week with Tropicana bar for a drink afterwards. We are vegan and had options at both Tavernas although there was nothing for us at Psarogatos & Koutoupas. The beach is lovely and reasonable 20 euros for 2 beds. The room was very clean and cleaners came in every day. If I was being super critical, it would have been nice to have a toaster in the room but we managed. Building works were happening outside the balcony but we found it very interesting and not imposing. We hired a quad from Discover Kefalonia rentals which was very reasonable for 60 euros for the day and allowed us to explore the island. Watching the planes is really interesting. There are no flights after 10pm or before 9pm so not too imposing.
