Bessie's Village

Our 7th time at Bessies and already planning for next year's visit. Spent 2 weeks again and never had any issues. We stayed in S1 this time and it was great. We never spend time in the apartment anyway. All we need is a bed, a shower and a fridge. Georgia and family are always on hand for any problems you might encounter but we never had any again. The pool area is brilliant and no 'towel droppers' as there is more than enough sun loungers. Rooms are cleaned and re-stocked daily. All in all a great place to holiday :) Dave & Lisa

Greece 2star..Clean,friendly owner,great pool,supermarket just up the road,restaurants nearby,we ate at Milos for 4 nights, it would be nice if the rooms had a toaster and a microwave, all in all a lovely holiday.

Very good location, close to the beach. The room had anything we needed.

We (2 adults, 2 kids and a baby) went to Bessie’s Village in August 2026 - this was very much a last minute deal as we had not been planning on going away this year! Bessie’s is close to the airport (4 min drive) and whilst you can see and hear the planes coming in to land, they do not disturb or impact on your holiday. There is building work at an adjacent property however this did not disturb us at all despite what some previous reviews have stated. The rooms are basic but functional and bins are emptied on a daily basis. Sheets are changed mid week but otherwise, it’s down to you to maintain which is kind of the point of self catering. That being said, the equipment in the room (and certainly stuff like broom/dustpan and brush) is limited and preparing anything more than a salad or a basic breakfast will be a challenge. Pool area is well maintained and we never struggled to get a sunbed or seat at the pool bar. Prices are fairly standard for food/drink which is tasty and not bad quality. We hired a car for four days and, as it was not our first time on Kefalonia, made the most of it and were out and about a fair bit. Whilst there isn’t much near Bessie’s Village, there is a small beach a 5 min walk away, a couple of restaurants and a supermarket. In terms of a resort, Svoronata is fairly spread out and if you are looking for something busy and with lots of places to eat and shops, you may be better off looking at somewhere like Skala or Lassi. We were happy with out accommodation for the week, particularly given the fact it was a last minute bargain. Friendly staff, fantastic pool area and functional rooms led to a pleasant stay!

Bessies Village is a short transfer from the airport, actually timed it & it was 4 mins. We checked in at reception & was allocated room B5 on the ground floor. The maid was still on with our room so we had a cold drink at the pool bar until the room was ready. Once in our room we found it spacious & mostly clean but a couple of issues with the cleanliness of the bathroom & kitchen utensils, but this was swiftly rectified after a word with reception. Beds were comfy & bed sheets clean, but not changed very often. Shower was always hot & powerful enough. Towels weren't changed that often to. The maid came often enough & changed the bin & swooshed a dry mop around the floor. The kitchen area has enough for self catering if that's what you want, but could do with a bit more cutlery & maybe a toaster or microwave. We normally manage without air conditioning but found it really hot as the week went on so we asked at reception if we could have it for the remainder of our stay which we did. Pool bar has a good menu & choice of refreshments. Pool itself is clean & surprisingly not a shock to the system when entering the water. Obviously it was early August & a lot of families & inflatables kept the pool busy, but it is open until 8pm if you want it quieter later. The grounds around the complex are kept tidy & look magnificent. The exterior of some of the apartments could do with a lick of paint. Now my wife & I are fit & in our early sixties & had no problem getting around the resort. Ive read that some people struggle, I imagine those with 'MOBILITY ' issues that seem to find it a struggle getting around but once around the pool with a beer & a vape are revitalised . The local shop was at the end of the street to your right & only 5 mins walk away (slight short incline) that had a taverna next to it. The nearest beach 'Ammis' was only 5 mins stroll away on your left of the street, didn't rate that beach much. Another 35 min walk & you reach AI Helis Beach , much nicer but the day we went , the beds were either occupied or the remaining were reserved. Also a number of tavernas heading that way. The harbour was only 15 mins away which we had a fabulous boat trip from. Further up after the harbour maybe 25 mins away from Bessie's are a couple more tavernas & bars. Like others have said, building work going on & planes overhead, but didn't bother us. Once the first plane came over in the morning, we dug ourselves out of the trenches & made ourselves welcome to the locals & carried on with our day 🙂 Overall, Bessie's is a 2 star establishment, so don't expect too much more. It could do with a little face-lift to tidy it up. We got a cheap last minute deal, so couldn't really complain. You get what you pay for. I think once the new 5 star hotel getting built in front of the complex is finished , Bessie's will have to up her game to not look out of place. Staff extremely helpful. Would stay again?
