Domes Zeen Chania, a Luxury Collection Resort Crete

Tento hotel je zatím jedním z nejlepších hotelů, které jsem navštívil! Je to tak krásné! Personál je tak zdvořilý a ochotný! Pokoje jsou úchvatné, čisté a tak pěkné. Ale nejlepší je jídlo! Soooooooo dobrý! Strávili jsme tam týden v červnu (19. 06. 19 - 27. 06. 19) a už se chci vrátit! Aby bylo jasno, 90% hotelu je připraveno a na místě je stále ještě nějaká stavba, ale vůbec nám to nevadilo! Jo, jistě, jste vybíravá duše, vždy budou nějaké věci, na které budete ukazovat prstem, ale zkuste se podívat kolem sebe a ocenit krásu, kterou tento hotel doposud nabízí! Casa vaří Chania, milujeme tě!

I booked this holiday as a treat for myself, my daughter and her partner after a very distressing year. The hotel is luxurious and situated in a stunning location next to a private beach. All rooms are more like private bungalows or apartments with an ample terrace or patio (some had their own infinity pools) and there is a lovely, clean swimming pool where the water was warm, and surrounded by comfortable sun beds and seating. There are 2 restaurants on site and the pool bar which has a snack menu. The menu for the restaurants changes daily so you can experience lots of local cuisine during your stay. The breakfast options are huge, there’s so much choice and nothing is too much trouble for the team. We also went to a private wine tasting on our last full day which was intimate with just 8 guests, this was run so professionally and I can speak for us all that we really enjoyed it. The reception team were so friendly and welcoming and offered us drinks and snacks while waiting for taxis. Every night someone would come in to place fresh water next to the bed, turn down the covers and put slippers on a little mat next to the bed. It was a really nice touch. We loved the hotel and would definitely book to go again.

When we were booking Domes Zeen Chania, my wife and I couldn't find much about the walk into Chania Old Town, so after staying there I wanted to share our experience for anyone in the same position. The resort is built on a steep hill, with reception and car park at the top, the pool and main facilities down at the bottom. We were happy enough climbing the steps between levels, but most other guests seemed to prefer waiting for the golf buggies! The walk to Chania harbour took us about 35 minutes each way. There are two ways to go: the main road near the top of the resort, or a dirt track along the beach from the bottom. We chose the beach route into town — it's a mixed bag, once past the beach there‘s a fairly unremarkable built-up area before opening up at Nea Chora Beach and giving way to a much more enjoyable approach to the harbour. The beach path after dark is unlit. On the one occasion we tried it on the way back, we came across some drunk homeless men lurking just past the last street light, and we didn't feel comfortable at all. The main road is a much better bet for the return journey, though do be aware it finishes with an unlit, unpaved lane leading up to the resort entrance. If you're thinking of using the bus — which seemed to run quite frequently — you'll still need to tackle that same lane to reach the stops. We still enjoyed the walk there and back, and it certainly helps all that delicious Greek food go down. The main Pool area looked nice, although for me personally it was uninviting, half the sun beds sat on shingle and all had fixed umbrellas so not the best for a sun tan. There were also a lot of kids in the main pool.

First time ima. luxury collection despite being a Marriott Platinum elite member. Mixed bag of feelings. Check in experience fantastic. Personal attention out of the ordinary. Rooms and house keeping leave a massive scope for improvement. The approach is narrow and looks like where are we. The parking or lack of it does not leave a great impression. However, the checking experience was very good. One observation, very personal but I felt the hostess uniform appeared like a night PJ. The view from the reception fantastic. The room we chose was basic for a property of this standard in terms of this level of pricing. The toilet was small and I don’t think space is a constraint. We were 4 of us in the room and I think the room could be bigger for sure. The hope was to get upgraded as a Platinum elite subject to availability that usually happens. The resort was full and that showed in the softer aspects. House keeping was delayed and when you call for a buggy you need to be prepared for a 10-15 mins wait.while we were here the gym was an open air one and basic. Sophia told us that the indoor one is opening in 10 days time. I would have imagined that the facilities here would have been superb like a property gym and a steam and sauna. The excellent bit about this property was the personalised attention, especially kudos to Theodore, who tried to go out of the way to accommodate whatever we wanted. In the end, the last day of our stay we managed to get the upgrade. A 2 bedroom wasn’t available but we got a room with an ocean view. Since we are vegetarians, the Beach house restaurant prepared a vegetarian menu for us and the food was outstanding. The breakfast spread was very good and the staff there fantastic. Sophia, made us have the fresh herbs and capsicum from the garden and it was the best capsicum we have had. Theodore and the team arranged a spa for us as well. Few areas where we feel the property could improve given the price tag. Housekeeping, the attention to detail would help, if they are doing up the room they would be better placed to top up things which have been used and be more detailed. Turnaround times could be better. Room sizes definitely could be better and the toilets need to be bigger. My first Luxury collection experience but maybe not the price I would wish to pay. Maybe the proposition is different for different people. Personalised service for sure.. location is pretty decent if you driving.
