Anthemis

Positives: We had a lovely time here, the staff, cleanliness and apartment all where to a very high standard. A short walk (downhill) to Samos town takes 15-20 minutes which is typically Greek, no loud night clubs or late opening bars, which was refreshing to see. We dined at a few restaurants, Welcome Taverna very good, but can get busy later on in the evening, best to eat there quite early. Al Forno Pizza/Pasta on the main square made the best Pizza's, there is a old school hole in the wall Gyros place on the square to, which the locals use, we tried the best gyros/pitta ever, our bill came to 17 Euros :). Zen on the Seafront is also very good, Moita on the way into Samos town was amazing. On the whole you will not hungry here, I digress, back to the Anthemis, the pool as mentioned on previous reviews does not open till 10am, and the sunbeds are quite limited on a busy day, so if you intend to spend a day poolside, you need to get there early to bag a couple of sunbeds which had a canopy . There were a few who put towels on beds and strolled off, so I took the towels off after a couple of hours, that kind of behaviour is just a selfish act but unfortunately some people are I guess .. So on the whole we had a lovely time, we were allocated room 39 at the very top, 121 steps to get there as there is no lift, however, the views and sunset were priceless and worth the hike up, and it burnt off the Feta, rooms were clean and modern, and we had the best night sleep, so peaceful. Negative: Only thing I can honestly say is, if you have mobility issues you would struggle here due to the steps to each apartment, plus I believe the Bar area should stay open into the evening for people to stop for a pre/post meal drink, it is a nice area that could really pay off as there aren't any bars/watering holes on the way down to samos town to stop off at, and maybe the pool could open earlier for those who like an early morning swim, would we return .. Yes we would but request a lower level apartment.

We loved our stay at the Anthemis hotel apartments. We had a fantastic room with lovely balcony and great views. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable and sheets and towels changed on a regular basis. Lovely big bathroom with some toiletries provided, shower gel, shampoo etc. Good strong shower. The breakfast was very good and had all we wanted. The staff were all excellent, nothing too much trouble and everyone friendly and helpful which made our stay even better. The location was very good only a short walk into Samos town. Samos island is very beautiful, we did hire a bike to get around which for us was ideal or you can hire a car. This is our third visit to Samos our last visit approx 11 years ago. We will go back and would not hesitate to stay at the Anthemis again. Thank you all for making our holiday a great one.

The suite was lovely as the photos the view was amazing...the staff were helpful so far so good the pool also good. However there were a huge number of steps 97 to get to our accommodation and there didn't appear to be any warnings about this property being unsuited to elderly or persons with mobility problems. If my husband had understood the layout before booking he might have chosen a suite/room on a lower level with less steps . I think we were on the equivalent of the 5/6 floor. No lift only exterior stairs, I had had a heart attack last year and if I hadn't recovered well this would have been outside my fitness. We were also very disappointed by the breakfast offered. Poor ingredients It is not hard to get fresh bakery bread. Actual orange juice etc

Our 1st stay in Samos and we chose the Artemis hotel. Location is great for us, close to a supermarket and choice of beaches. The hotel is situated on a hillside and be prepared for the steps! Our room was 88 steps and the view was definitely worth it! Great views of Samos town and the sea in-front of the hotel, not so good for some guests who struggled with the steps. Rooms cleaned daily by the hard working staff. Lots of European guests who use the hotel with families so sunbeds can be an issue. We spent 1 day at pool and next at beach (sunbeds were €5 each for the day). Breakfast was plentiful with homemade bread and cakes daily. Pool bar was cheap and again excellent value for money. Bar closes at 6pm and pool at 7pm for cleaning.

The nicest apartment we have ever stayed in for a Greek holiday.the room cleanliness was amazing.we stayed at the very top apartment which had stunning views but also lots of very steep steps so unless you’re quite fit it wouldn’t suit.The breakfast was very good,coffee not so good.Some days we couldn’t get a sunbed by the pool area which was a little disappointing.Pool bar shut at 6 which we felt was too early as it would be a lovely area in the evening to have a cocktail or 2.the main reception was meant to take over the food and drink service from 6 until 9 ,the first night we arrived managed to get a few drinks although it was limited to cans of beer not draughts or bottles and a gyros which was tasty,unfortunately it felt like the lady didn’t want to be serving drinks or food.on the 2nd week we had been out all day and didn’t want to walk into town so ordered a beer and an ouzo which took 20 minutes to arrive even though there was only 1 other couple sat,when it came to food we were told food finished at 8.30 pm.we walked into town as we felt we were being a nuisance
