    Velmi dobrý

Stayed at Domes while visiting Santorini over Greek Easter weekend. The hotel is very close to Oia, which is a plus, and we were upgraded during our stay, spending time in both a one-bedroom suite and a two-bedroom suite. Both suites were nicely appointed, modern and each had its own pool. Overall, this is a beautiful property with a great location, thoughtful staff, and the benefit of being in the Marriott network, making it a strong option for those looking to earn or use points. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful. Anytime we were walking with bags or luggage, someone immediately approached and offered to assist, and when parking was full, the team managed the vehicle so we were not left trying to figure it out ourselves. They also offered a welcome drink at check-in and left gifts in our room for Greek Orthodox Easter, along with a schedule of holiday events and restaurant options, which was a thoughtful touch. That said, the property appears to be in a bit of an identity crisis. It is marketed and styled like a modern luxury hotel with more of an adult feel, but as soon as you exit the lobby, there is a kids club right there. I have kids and love kids, but it is worth noting for anyone considering this property for a honeymoon or romantic trip. The suites also have private pools, but they are not truly private, anyone walking by can see directly into the pool areas. The rooms are near the water, but they do not have water views, which is also helpful to know when booking. The biggest drawbacks were check-in and housekeeping. Check-in took at least 45 minutes, despite the lobby being empty and us seemingly being the only guests waiting. I understand the hotel may have just opened for the season, and part of the conversation involved upgrade availability, but the extended wait did take away from the arrival experience. Housekeeping was also disappointing on our final day. We asked for fresh towels, tipped generously, and left the room, but when we returned later, the towels had not been replaced, damp towels were still on the floor, trash had not been removed, and the suite fridge had not been restocked. Two moments that stood out: I unexpectedly needed a feminine product, and the staff went out of their way to help. Two young male employees searched the property, and eventually a female employee gave me one of her personal items. That was incredibly kind and appreciated. However, at a luxury hotel basic feminine products should be on hand and available for guests. Second, when we arrived in our suite the first day the staff left a lovely bottle of champagne and sweets in the room for us as a gift. In hindsight, it is possible that this gesture was being worked on while we waited I the lobby at check-in so while the extended check in was awkwardly long, its possible its because the staff were putting together this sweet arrival gift for us and I felt that should be mentioned. Overall, Domes Santorini has a lot going for it: a great location near Oia, beautiful suites, friendly and attentive staff, thoughtful holiday touches, and strong Marriott Bonvoy value. The main things to be aware of are the lack of true privacy around the suite pools, the more family-friendly feel than the marketing may suggest, the long check-in process, and inconsistent housekeeping. I would stay here again and really appreciated the staff attention to detail and level of hospitality and genuine care they provided. Pros: location near Oia, beautiful suites, friendly staff, Marriott Bonvoy benefits, thoughtful Easter touches, we felt extremely safe and secure at the property and it was pretty quiet around the property as well, would be a good place to come for a more relaxing type of trip. Cons: “private” pools are not private, no water views from the suites, confusing adult-luxury vs. family-friendly positioning, slow check-in, and inconsistent housekeeping.

We have just returned home after a fabulous stay! We were greeted with a warm welcome where someone took our luggage from the car when we arrived. We sat in reception and drank a complimentary orange drink served with a small cake, which was yummy 😋 We were then shown around, bar, restaurant, spa etc then to our room, a lovely large room with its own pool and a sea view. The gentleman explained how everything worked and to my delight there were birthday balloons, a welcome note, a bottle of bubbly, some local sweets/jellies and then someone arrived with a delicious chocolate cake! My husband had emailed prior to our arrival to explain that the holiday was a 60th birthday present from him to me. He had no idea that they would be doing this, it was such a lovely surprise! The room was exceptionally clean with much welcomed air-conditioning 😌 There were so many complimentary items to use too: from refreshments to toiletries. We soon settled in and enjoyed a dip in the pool whilst sipping our wine. The bed was so comfortable with fresh linen sheets. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, the staff attentive and very efficient. Indeed, the waitress remembered our choice of coffee every morning! A perfect location with a view too. We made use of the free shuttle into the town of Oia. Just as well we did because it is a rather steep walk and my husband is suffering with hip pain. We did, however, walk back as we missed the shuttle back at 3.30pm. We also made use of the shuttle on an evening at 7.30pm, returning at 9.30pm. This would be my only gripe, I feel that there should be more runs. The hotel did organise a complimentary taxi for us, taking us to the bus station on one occasion as we had been misled by the Jet2 rep that we could catch a bus outside the hotel. This isn't the case, they don't stop there. We enjoyed the roof top bar and watched the many sun sets, just perfect 👌 (although we had a perfect view from outside our room too). We also dined in the restaurant, again delicious 😋 with excellent waiting staff. We did ring through for drinking water and this was delivered to us complimentary. We loved returning to our room and the bed turned down with a chocolate or biscuit on the pillow, a carton of water at our bed side and a good night mat with slippers by the bed, a lovely touch. Towels were changed every day and room cleaned. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. I know my husband had saved hard to make it a special one for me, and it isn't cheap to stay here but it was a holiday to remember.

Our experience at Domes was quite mixed. While there were some aspects we genuinely enjoyed, this property is marketed as a 5-star hotel and, in our view, it does not deliver a traditional 5-star experience. Pros The staff at breakfast and the bar were absolutely delightful. They were warm, friendly, and consistently provided the best service we encountered during our stay. The coffee at breakfast was a particular highlight. The breakfast food itself was decent, though not exceptional, and I would rate it around 6/10 for both quality and presentation. There are a few made-to-order items available, such as omelets, but specialty items like protein shakes come at an additional charge. Our private pool bungalow was excellent. We appreciated the privacy, and the views from the resort are beautiful. However, the room already showed noticeable signs of wear and tear, including scuffed walls, stained upholstery on the bed and sofa, and cracked marble around the sink. Cons The shortcomings were primarily service-related. There was no bell staff available at either check-in or check-out to assist with luggage. The welcome drink consisted of orange juice, which felt underwhelming for a property positioning itself as a luxury resort. If you hold Marriott Bonvoy elite status, do not expect meaningful recognition beyond a few basic gestures. We were also told that water was complimentary because the tap water on the island is not potable. In reality, only the first two bottles in the room are complimentary; additional bottles are charged. This felt misleading, particularly since most luxury hotels provide complimentary bottled water throughout a guest’s stay when tap water is not safe to drink. Turndown service was another disappointment. There is no turndown service on the day of arrival, and the service itself is extremely limited. Staff did not remove used coffee cups or glasses, empty trash, or replenish coffee capsules. Additional coffee capsules incur a charge. Guests must also request turndown service in advance, as it is not automatically provided. Transportation is similarly misleading and restrictive. The hotel offers only two complimentary shuttle trips into town each day, at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Outside of those times, guests must either walk approximately 25 minutes uphill to Oia or pay the hotel’s arranged taxi rates. The spa facilities were also underwhelming. Access to the sauna and steam room costs an additional €25 per person, per day. In our experience, these amenities are typically included at hotels operating at this price point and star rating. Overall Ultimately, this property fell well short of our expectations and vast experience at 5-star hotels. While there are positive aspects, particularly the friendly breakfast and bar staff, the overall service standards, amenity charges, hard product quality, and lack of attention to detail do not align with what we have come to expect from a luxury resort. If concerns are raised, they are often met with attitude rather than meaningful resolution. For that reason, we would not return and would choose a different property on our next visit to Santorini. Based on our experience, we would rate this property closer to a 3-star hotel rather than a true 5-star resort.
