Alua Illa de Menorca

I booked this hotel as a little break for us. I booked this hotel without looking at the reviews. When I came to read the reviews, I was quite disappointed and thought my experience wouldn’t be good. From the minute we arrived, we were treated by lovely staff members who were willing to go above and beyond for us. The food was amazing! We had themed nights every night such as Mexican, Spanish, Italian and Asian. The food was suitable for everyone with beige foods available for people if needed. The all inclusive was amazing! Most drinks are included unless you want branded drinks. Such as they have their own vodka but if you want absolut you’d have to pay more for. Most cocktails were included aswell! The all inclusive drinks do stop at 11pm so do make sure you have stocked up before then. The staff were amazing and so friendly. If you needed anything they would do so. We aren’t really sandy beach people and it was so lovely as there was a rocky part of the sea close by. They had steps for you to go into the sea and it was quiet aswell. We only stayed for 5 nights but if you wanted to go to a sandy beach you could go out for the day and get a taxi. There was a market about a 10 minute drive away in which you could get a taxi to. The pool was quite busy but it was lovely and enjoyable. You don’t need to rush to the sunbeds as the pool doesn’t open till 10:30. The sunbeds are full at midday ish. We went in the 6 week holidays so there was a range of ages at the resort. It was lovely to see so many people happy. This is such great value for money and I kept saying to my partner, how did we pay this much?! I would have paid more to come here. We will definitely be back! Thankyou for a lovely stay!

On arrival not receiving the warmest welcome and having read the reviews I was a little wary about what to expect for the the next week and a half! But all in all a lovely time was had. There isn't much to do in the area but I think travel to a town or the beach was definitely doable via bus, taxi or hire car and many did just that. But if you're after a peaceful, relaxing break around the pool with the option of some daytime/evening activities and entertainment then this is a good option. The hotel is about 25 mins transfer from the airport. There's a couple of supermarkets within a 5/10 minute walk for any essentials. Good choice of drinks included on AI. Pool snacks were ok and reasonable value for money all things considered. Breakfast buffet was great. Lunch and dinner sometimes had some unusual options and could definitely be labelled better but the chefs were always on hand to try and help despite the language barrier. Desserts were very repetitive but were probably trying to cater to all tastes. The vast majority of the staff here from house keeping, cleaning, reception, bar and restaurant were friendly and welcoming, and clearly work very hard and long hours. Unfortunately Elena could use some customer service skills as I did find it quite rude that she chose to serve presumably one of her favourite customers who was behind me in the queue at the bar rather than myself. Even in spite of said customer gesturing that I was before him. I'm not sure what she had to gain aside from making me feel stupid. A very family friendly hotel with plenty to keep the kids entertained but be aware that there is always large French/Spanish clientele at the hotel and some activities are aimed directly at them in their home language. We asked for a quieter room as previously been directly above the entertainment stage at different hotels and our email request in advance was noted and seemingly honoured despite being very busy. The soundproofing between rooms is not great as you can hear absolutely everything so something to bear in mind if you're a light sleeper. Would I return? Probably not only because next time we'd like to explore more of the local area, be near a beach and the few niggles here and there.

I have just returned from a holiday here, and it was fantastic. We arrived at around 12:00 after our flight from Bristol, expecting to have to wait for our rooms, but to our surprise they were ready as soon as we checked in. There were also plenty of available sun loungers when we arrived, and although the hotel became busier during our stay, we were always able to find a sun lounger without any trouble—no sunbed wars here! The food was very good, and my friend, who has coeliac disease, was exceptionally well looked after. The chef, Nico, took the time to personally walk her through the buffet, explaining what she could eat, and on several occasions even prepared separate meals for her. This level of care was greatly appreciated. The entertainment was generally very good, and the staff were incredibly friendly throughout our stay. They never pressured guests to take part in activities, but were always approachable, smiling, and happy to help.I will definitely be returning 😊

Was genuinely concerned when I seen some of the reviews on here but I don't know what people are expecting. Anyone who plays down the food please leave the names of the all inclusive hotels you have been to with better food for the same money. We went with our 3 year old and had a great time. The employees are the biggest asset. Can't do enough for you. Entertainment team are great and never run out of energy and everyone works so hard. Breakfasts are really good lunch and dinner is mainly chicken pork or fish but they have a pasta station salad section and definitely enough options for fussy eaters. There are burgers chips and hot dogs cooked throughout the day too. No watered down beer which I've experience before. For the price we paid was more then I expected

First time here (my first time to Menorca),had early flight arrived around 10.45 checked in room ready about 12.00 which was good. Booked sea view high floor ( room 416 4th floor)--excellent views (see pics.) As it was extremely hot(30 +) great adjustable air con very welcome. Hotel runs shuttle service to Mahon(small charge) and Punta Prima(free) regular throughout day just book at reception pref. day before as they get busy One day we walked to Prima and booked bus to come back(too hot to walk both ways) Mandy on reception(English but lived there since young(I believe) very helpful and always there for a chat when you pass recep. Small bay at Alculfar 20 mins walk worth a visit small beach there or boat jettys to sunbathe on. Popular for swimming esp. by locals at weekend. Main restaurant food good choice and probably the hottest and freshest buffet food we have had over the years in hotels. Nico one of the chefs often came round speaking to diners asking if things ok etc- nice touch. Self service for drinks , pink or white cava at lunch and dinner too . Pool bar served food too during day so if you missed lunch after 3.00 always something there. Lobby bar in evening nice for drinks lots of seating areas. (Different cocktails each night). Elena on bar service very fast and cheerful. We will def. come back here prob. early or late season when its a little cooler as we like to walk around more.( it was 38d in Mahon city when we visited). This hotel is not too large and in a quieter area of Menorca and only approx. 30 mins. t/fer from airport-which suited us.
