Oceanpoint Ranch

My wife and I planned a romantic weekend at the ranch and it was sad mistake. Ownership simply painted the pig as Oceanpoint is unfortunately an incredibly expensive, antiquated motel that has a nice exterior paint job. The rooms are dated with an odd Western theme with small, uncomfortable bathrooms and tight tub showers. The wall heaters are particularly old and inefficient so be prepared to keep your clothes on when you head to bed if there is a cold snap which is definitely not very romantic until the room finally heats up and you strip down. What is particularly disconcerting is Oceanpoint's practice of keeping the windows in the room open so the fumes from the cleaning solvents can dissipate over the course of the day and the evening. So if it is cold outside, it will be cold inside. When we arrived around 10 pm, we were ushered to our walk-in freezer of a guestroom and we immediately went to work shutting the windows and turning on the heater which of course did not work. We then changed rooms and thankfully the second room had a working heater which took close to an hour to heat the room up. Ultimately, it took us a couple of hours to get settled and comfortable. The second night was no different with another night in a cold room that had to be warmed up. So the choices is fumes vs. cold with neither being an appropriate option at the price point that the motel charges. We shared our concerns with management and they ignored them. Hopefully you won't make the same expensive and uncomfortable mistake we made unless you like it cold and old.

We went for a quick couples weekend. We stayed in a Lonestar cabin. The room was clean and looked cute. It’s updated but you can tell it’s an older building. The bed was comfortable but could use newer pillows. There wasn’t a closet in our room or an iron, which was disappointing. No air conditioning but plenty of windows for fresh air. The bathroom was okay, could use better lighting and a fan, and a bigger shower. We were somewhat disappointed in the room for the price. Also, could smell smoke from the neighbors next to us. We probably won’t return.

Just ok. Would not stay again. Rooms were not cleaned well and they were out of soap and other items. Cow tipper restaurant was way over priced and service was rude.

This was a horrible experience. The staff were unprofessional and rude. I was also given incorrect information by their phone staff. The rooms are not air conditioned, stuffy and warm. The interiors are dated and aged. Terrible rooms and terrible staff- I do not recommend this resort and won’t be returning here.

Our room was lovely. Clean, comfortable and very quiet. Heated pool was a delight. Location is close to the beach, town and Hearst Castle
