Bessie's Village

This was our second visit ..last year was great,loved it,..sadly due to noise,dust,and zero privacy due to a v large construction taking place literally 10-15yds from patio area it was horrible,its 12 hrs a day 7 days a week,only privacy was if you shut the curtains and kept door shut,removing almost all natural light,it was like living in a container unit,we were offered a different room but the whole of the site is effected to a greater or lesser degree,and the room we were offered was by car park at village entrance..so no privacy again The staff were sympathetic..I think they've heard it man many times already Reported it to TUI..no response and pointed out they should warn people as this building is going on all year,and early season next year Safe to say we won't be going back,as that lovely little beach is likely to be ram packed the amount of people this new build will accommodate

The best thing about this place is watching the planes take off and land. The rooms need to be updated - TUI said all their rooms had been renovated, that is not the case. They are a good size but are very basic, including having a shower curtain that sticks to you as you shower. Bedding and towels all very clean. You need to take washing up liquid, tea towels and scourers. Clean towels and sheets are changed every 3 days but apart from the bins being emptied daily, no cleaning is done. Drinks and food at the pool bar are reasonably priced. Its a good 5 min walk to the end of the drive to Bessies Village, you can turn right to go up to the supermarket and a restaurant (another 10 mins up quite a steep slope ) or turn left to go to the nearest restaurant, downhill another 10 mins. The owner is lovely and the whole place is all very clean but if we went there again we would have to hire a car to get around. Best day out was booked thru Get my guide - a day trip around Kefalonia. It cost £25 per person and was very good value.

Me and my husband stayed at bessies village for 2 weeks, we hired a quad to explore the whole island, upon arrival, Georgia was amazing showed us to our room and nothing for our whole stay was too much trouble, she works so hard as do all her family. When we'd return from our trips out we'd chill around the pool, lovely. Bear in mind there is building work, didnt disturb us, and at the end of the they have to build somewhere eh. Room was basic, but clean, beds very comfy. we basically had everything we needed for our 2 week stay, bear in mind though, there is no oven or toaster, so we bought a cheap toaster from the supermarket, we managed to cook breakfast before our travels, beach is a short walk away, a very ample shop, 5 mins walk, turn right from the hotel, bus was 10 mins walk, turn left, the area itself, has few restaurants, and bars, which we found quite expensive eating out, as your a captive audience!! But ammes hotel at the end of the run, was fab, isabella who owns it, does a wonderful job x Because we hired a quad, we could venture a little further, just a heads up if your wanting a little bit more nightlife! All in all we had a fantastic stay, thank you Georgia and family xxx

Spent 7 nyts in bessies village, its basic but clean, self catering limited facilities no microwave. bins emptied every day. if you want laid back by the pool unwind this is for you. no probs getting a lounger, beach 5mins walk, bus stop at beach, 2.5 euros to main town Argostoli you can see turtles in the sea plus we went back in the evening had a meal on the promenade beautiful its a must. there are 4 restaurants, 1 supermarket, lassie is a great beach so you can get there by bus. spend the whole day there bus back. path behind supermarket 20mins walk crazy george good pub restaurant english breakfast, good food. geogia and family work very hard. 10 mins through customs airport ess turned off, there are planes over head but i liked seeing them. 5 mins transfer, bit of building work going on next door but not bad .just do it.

Bessie’s village is basic. It’s clean and tidy and the pool is lovely. No sunbed wars. Pool is great. If you are hoping to self cater, there is insufficient kitchen equipment to do so. Lots of restaurants around the hotel within a short walk. Ammes beach is a few mins walk, and sunbeds are €20 for 2 beds and a parasol. It’s a very peaceful place, so if you want a holiday with lots to do then this isn’t the place for you. Overall Bessie’s village is lovely and we would definitely come back. Receptionist isn’t too friendly or approachable and made us feel like we were putting her out. The air con is very expensive - €70 per room per week. There were 5 in my family so they split us between 2 rooms so we had to pay €140 just for air conditioning! We have been to Kefalonia several times before. Would likely come back to Bessie’s but would also consider other options. Building works right next to Bessie’s wasn’t too loud for us. Such a shame as the new builds are now blocking the view of the sea from Bessie’s. The aeroplanes come in loud and low over Bessie’s but we quite enjoyed watching them.
