We recently stayed at Domes of Corfu as a family of four with our young adult children, and the experience was amazing from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome and were invited to relax in a comfortable lounge area while checking in. The Guest Relations team were exceptionally friendly, accommodating, and genuinely couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. We stayed in two Sapphire Junior Suites, both of which were beautifully appointed, well equipped, and offered stunning sea views. As we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, we were delighted to find a thoughtful card and delicious cakes waiting for us in our room – a lovely touch that was greatly appreciated. We were on a half-board package, which allowed us to enjoy both the specialty restaurants and the main buffet. The Asian restaurant was absolutely outstanding. We had initially been slightly concerned about the supplements applied to some menu items, but we were able to choose dishes without additional charges and were extremely pleased with both the quality and quantity of the food. The Greek Meze restaurant was equally impressive, and we enjoyed it so much that we visited twice during our stay. We spent most days by the adults-only pool and were able to find sunbeds every day, which was wonderful. Although the hotel caters to many families with young children, this was never an issue for us, and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying their holiday. We also had access to the Haute Living Lounge, which was a nice added benefit. Being able to visit throughout the day for drinks and snacks was very convenient. While the food selection was generally good, it occasionally felt a little limited, with plenty of cakes and sweet treats available but fewer savoury options unless you enjoy pastries. This is simply an observation rather than a criticism. Overall, we had a perfect holiday, and the hotel suited us on every level. The service, accommodation, facilities, and dining experiences were all excellent. Based on our experience, I would encourage potential guests not to be overly influenced by negative reviews. We found Domes of Corfu to be a truly wonderful hotel and enjoyed every moment of our stay.

Sadly, this hotel is not the 5-star luxury resort it presents itself to be. I booked Domes of Corfu in January for a 9-night stay in June. The stunning views of the Ionian Sea, the beautiful neutral aesthetic, and what appeared to be an extensive selection of food and beverage options made it seem like the perfect summer getaway. To be fair, the views are breathtaking and the hotel itself is beautifully designed. Unfortunately, the food, drink, atmosphere, and overall guest experience fell far short of expectations. One of the first frustrations was the hotel's layout and logistics. There are only two lifts serving a seven-floor hotel, meaning long waits were common, particularly with the large number of buggies in circulation. The resort is also heavily geared towards families. While the website showcases idyllic scenes of children playing happily by the beach, the reality felt more like a crowded family holiday camp than a luxury resort. Families and young children dominated most communal spaces, particularly the pool area, which we avoided entirely due to the constant presence of inflatables, floaties, and children's activities. Cleanliness was another concern. There was a noticeable ant problem in the buffet restaurant and around both the beach bar and Mezze restaurant. Ammos Beach Bar could also benefit from a much more thorough cleaning and maintenance routine. The biggest disappointment, however, was the food and beverage offering. We booked on a half-board basis, which included breakfast and dinner in the buffet restaurant. Breakfast was often chaotic, with staff appearing overwhelmed, although there were a handful of genuinely helpful and hardworking team members. Dinner was consistently poor and nowhere near the standard expected of a luxury resort. Guests are effectively left alternating between two other restaurants when they are open, limiting variety considerably during a longer stay. For a nine-night holiday, the lack of choice became repetitive very quickly. The website promises a celebration of Corfu's flavours and aromas, yet traditional Greek cuisine was surprisingly limited. Simple staples such as gyros were nowhere to be found, while offerings such as chicken souvlaki and tzatziki hardly justify the "fine dining" label. Equally, the advertised "international cuisine" often consisted of buffet staples such as lukewarm sweet and sour pork and spring rolls, which felt more like party food than a curated culinary experience. The Asian restaurant was disappointing on our first visit, although noticeably improved after our feedback had been raised. Mezze was underwhelming, with very little seasoning or creativity. Spianada offered some enjoyable lunch dishes, but the menu was small and would benefit from daily specials or more variety. Portions were generous, but a selection of lighter dishes would have been welcome. The website also creates the impression of a wider range of dining options than actually exists. For example, food trucks are promoted, yet there is only one, and it operates on Thursdays only. On those evenings, guests are effectively left choosing between a costly BBQ event or the buffet. To Domes' credit, when we privately raised our concerns, both the Head of Food & Beverage and the Head of Customer Experience were professional, attentive, and genuinely tried to help. However, it was uncomfortable being approached in public areas multiple times to discuss complaints, often loudly enough for other guests to hear. These conversations should have been handled more discreetly. Atmosphere was another major letdown throughout the resort. Many hospitality spaces lacked energy, particularly in the evenings. The hotel's FIFA Club World Cup promotion was a perfect example. Marketing promised large screens, themed cocktails, game snacks, and an electric atmosphere. The reality was one television, a small table of children's party food, no visible themed cocktails, and an atmosphere best described as lifeless. Even matches were not consistently available in guest rooms for later kick-offs. Service was inconsistent. While some staff were excellent, others appeared uninterested or abrupt. There was also an excessive focus on room numbers and payment details. Staff frequently interrupted orders to ask for room numbers or payment preferences before guests had even finished ordering, creating a transactional rather than hospitable experience. Restaurant operations were equally confusing. The Asian restaurant was closed on certain evenings, leaving guests with very limited alternatives. There appeared to be a shortage of tables in some venues, yet despite no reservations being available in the system, restaurants were often visibly quiet when we arrived. Ultimately, Domes of Corfu has the foundations of a beautiful resort. The scenery is exceptional, and the design is impressive. However, the reality does not match the luxury experience promised on its website. Misleading marketing, disappointing food, inconsistent service, limited dining options, and a lack of atmosphere made this feel far more like a family-focused all-inclusive resort than the premium five-star destination we expected. For a shorter family holiday, some guests may overlook these shortcomings. For those booking a longer stay expecting a genuine luxury experience, it is important to manage expectations.

A lovely hotel. There are plenty of sun loungers, with pools for only children or only adults. The breakfast and evening buffets have ample choice and the staff can’t do enough to help. Drinks are a bit expensive but that’s hotels for you. (There is a mini market literally almost opposite the hotel entrance which sells the basics.) You are given complimentary water every day which is left in your room that is serviced very well. Please don’t worry about lots of children or cats. The children are no issue and bring a bit of lighthearted fun, and there are adult only areas in the buffet restaurant if you prefer. I have an allergy to cats and I was worried by some of the reviews. The hotel does have two cats that lazily wander around as if they own the place, but I let the hotel know beforehand and asked to have a room on a higher floor and I’ve been fine with no asthma at all (I’ve just avoided sitting on the soft cushions in the communal areas as a precaution, but there are lots of other seats around). Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break. Just sad we leave tomorrow…
