The Olivar Suites

Excellent hotel with good facilities and great location . It was our first stay at the Olivar Suites and we were really delighted with the hotel. It’s small enough to feel personal and big enough to have excellent service and great choices in food and beverages. The beach was lovely, even when it was busy it was still easy to find beds and the beach bed service was fast and efficient with drinks very reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel. Aperitif or digestif in the beach bar was a real highlight with great staff who weee knowledgeable on the wine list. Breakfast was a great choice and easy to order off menu for eggs etc if some of the more creative dishes weren’t to your liking. We also did the complimentary yoga which was great apart from the yoga deck was at the side of the hotel near the road so sometimes a little noisy. The rooms were well spaced and quiet and very private. We had a room with a private pool which was lovely. The only negative was the spa. I felt that it didn’t quite offer the luxury experience expected and you had to pay before treatment as it couldn’t be charged to the room as an implant in the hotel. (Which I’ve not experienced in 5 star before). The restaurant was lovely and ate lunch and dinner on a few occasions and also had snacks at the beach. All staff were great especially housekeeping as there was a massive rainstorm (it was torrential with epic lightening) they still came for turndown and provided extra towels! The hotel is a great location to walk to local tavernas and bars and the village is small and not too overrun with bars etc so had a nice feel about it. Highly recommended the hotel and will definitely be back.

I visited last August with my son, and we had a room with a private plunge pool. Looking at another holiday this year, and I cannot find anything the same. The staff are warm and attentive, the room, the cleanliness, the hospitality, the food, the location, everything was exquisite. I would recommend half board, the food was simply beautiful, and they adapted to cater for my nut allergy. Room service was exceptional. Child-friendly, family-oriented, but also suitable for couples. From the moment you step out of your taxi, you relax. I have no option but to book again this year. Nothing compares. Caroline

I’ve been twice now to Olivar Suites. Its quiet, understated luxury amidst the hurly burly of Messonghi is blissful. The rooms, pools and beach are fabulous. The staff are all incredibly helpful and the offerings at the restaurant both sophisticated and good for children. Traditional tavernas are a step away outside the door. The buildings and grounds are well designed and create a lovely atmosphere. Love it.

Myself, my husband and our 19 month old recently stayed at The Olivar Suites for a week and I can honestly say, it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff with welcome drinks and a very smooth check-in process. We had booked an executive suite but we were upgraded to an Ionian suite and all I can say is WOW! The suite we had was amazing - we had suite 401 which was so close to all the facilities (pool, bar & restaurant). We had our own pool but also a lovely big garden and direct, private access to the beach via a gate at the end of the garden, with our own sunbeds/cabana. This was perfect for us with a young child because we were never far from the room for naps, nappy changes etc but still able to enjoy the beach, sea and pool. The hotel uses an app where you can book spa treatments, order food and drink to your sunbeds or room and make restaurants reservations. You can also whatsapp the reception which is so helpful! The hotel is stunning and spotless, everything is so clean and the rooms are so well equipped - there isn't anything they haven't thought of. Food and drink is also top quality, there wasn't anything that we ate or drank during the week that we didn't like. They also have a kids menu with a great choice of food and desserts for little ones and little people toiletries in the room too, which was so lovely. We loved our stay so much, we already can't wait to go back next year! Thank you to everyone at The Olivar Suites for making our stay so enjoyable.

We had high expectations based on other reviews and it didn't disappoint. The positives are - great rooms - close to the beach (you get free water when sat down) - friendly staff - flat area for wandering A few minor issues we found but not enough to derail a 5* - the breakfast (in October at least) wasn't as comprehensive as other hotels. No self service of eggs, a lack of cheese varieties etc - we were woken by what sounded like an alarm turns out it's a scops owl, not the hotels fault but bring ear plugs in case as it's loud and consistent - no indoor pool
