Hotel L'Approdo

We stayed at L’Approdo as a group of 10 friends and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our group stayed in several different room types, which gave us a good opportunity to compare them. My personal recommendation would definitely be to choose a lakeside room in the part of the hotel with the elevator. The views over Lake Orta and were absolutely breathtaking and made the stay even more special. The hotel itself is beautiful. We loved the lovely gardens, the pool area, the restaurants, the breakfast and, of course, the stunning setting by Lake Orta. We also really enjoyed the wellness area, which was a lovely addition to our stay. Everything was even better than we had hoped. Although the hotel is not all new, it is extremely well maintained, spotlessly clean and clearly very well cared for. What really made the difference, however, was the staff. Every member of the team we met was incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. We were always greeted with patience and a smile, and nothing ever seemed like too much trouble. Being a group of 10 inevitably meant quite a few questions, requests and arrangements, and I’m sure we occasionally created some extra work! Despite this, the service we received throughout our stay was outstanding. We felt genuinely well looked after from beginning to end. One thing worth noting, especially for larger groups, is that getting around Lake Orta can be a little challenging as there are not many taxis available and although there is a ferry service around the lake, the ferries do not run very frequently, I would recommend arranging transportation in advance whenever possible. The hotel was incredibly helpful with this as well and went out of their way to help us organize our transfers and transportation. We really appreciated it. We could not have been happier with our stay. Thank you!

The hotel is beautifully situated at the lake with plenty of sunbeds and opportunities for svimming, kayaking and the like. The room was nice (garden view), spacious and the terrace very lovely. The breakfast buffet was really good and varied. We arrived on a rainy day and this was used as an excuse to close everything down - that was rather a nuisance. We couldn’t get lunch anywhere. The hotel website boasted both a pool bar and another bar with food, but because it was dripping, alas, all was closed (hint: this would be the perfect reason to stay open). We had to go out in the rain to find something. Ended up with bread and sausage from the supermarket (which was good, but still, I expected a large hotel to serve food all day). But other than that, we truly enjoyed our stay, the staff was nice and helpful. The facilities are nice and clean. I just wish it was possible to eat during the day since there is no real town nearby, just a sandwich place.

Stayed here with a Titan group recently. We found the location absolutely fabulous on the lakeside but we had all our transport and trips laid on by Titan so no issue really with it being a bit isolated. The breakfast were superb, everything you could wish for, the evening meal was provided with our holiday package so it was basic. Our room was clean and comfortable, we did not have a lakeside view so a bit disappointed but overall very good. Our only complaint was we had a locked door to an adjoining room (we were obviously in a family room) and the noise from the other room was not pleasant. This spoilt our stay and I was quite upset about it, I hastened to add that this was entirely the fault of the hotel not the occupying guests who were in fact lovely and we did discuss the issue. The staff were absolutely fantastic, top marks.

We stayed here as part of a Titan tour group. This is a very nice hotel, it is however somewhat isolated although it does have boats for trips coming direct to the hotel. On free days however, there is little to do but there is a short lakeside walk and tiny village with a nice bar nearby (Dolphin.) There are a few steps down eg to the garden which really should have a handrail considering the age and infirmity of many within the tour group. Our room (306) was very nice, clean, roomy and comfortable. Unfortunately it faced a main road so there was significant traffic noise. Good selection at breakfast. A limited choice for meals which was not always to English tastes, at times it could also have been warmer. All food was however made with quality ingredients, was well cooked and well presented, the taste was always good too. It was also great how well they catered for food allergies etc, nothing was too much trouble for them. All staff encountered throughout our stay were efficient, friendly, pleasant and polite. Of particular note was Rebecca in the restaurant. On balance a very good and clean hotel.

A nice hotel with limited transport options September 2025 Logistics: Visited for a week on a tour using hotel as a base. There is negligible public transport here, no short run taxis, no hotel shuttle just an infrequent boat ferry so you really need a car here to get around. There is a Connad supermarket 1 mile away in Pettenasco, best take the lakeside walk if on foot. This hotel is directly on the lake and is generally quiet except on saturday night if a function is on Hotel: reception staff all good. The facilities just make a four star hotel rating. There is no inside pool and the outside one is not heated so its cool from September on, the lake is actually warmer to swim in. The Main issue for everyone i spoke to was that the aircon doesnt work properly and my room no exception. i would open my patio doors with the net curtain across (to keep the bugs out) first and last thing to air the room. In my room i had three big concrete steps down from the toilet to the bedroom area with no hand rail so you really needed to take care going to the loo at night. there are no led illuminators to illuminate the steps like on more modern hotels. Food was pretty good, breakfast had fresh orange juice for example and a lovely lady barista for coffee on request. My room was a good size, clean with good shower, bidet and a modest terraced area. Clothes didnt really dry for me but i noticed the bathroom radiator was electric and you could use that Its a pity they dont run a little courtesy bus here and there or even with a charge. There are local places which have good walks but without a taxi or public transport you simply cant get around easily. The main road has no pavement so its not ideal. there are some miscellaneous boats you can hire and i think a couple of nicycles
