SECRETS LANZAROTE RESORT

They say you shouldn’t go back but we did, and we were not disappointed. This Spa resort has everything you need if you want to get off the wheel and relax. The all inclusive, with a selection of restaurants in the evening is excellent, particularly the Bluewater Grill. The staff at Secrets can’t do enough and there is just a really friendly relaxed atmosphere. With 4 grown up kids, full time jobs and 2 grandkids we just wanted to just have a few days in the sun, adults only, all inclusive, reset and go again. This place ticks all the boxes. Both times we have been we haven’t spent money during the stay which for me makes an all inclusive worth it. it’s definitely an older age group that make up most of the holiday makers and that generation tend to be good with their money so you know it’s a decent place but there are younger couples as well buts it’s not a party resort/place. We tried the spa this year, 2 hours, had everything , we booked our slot for a few hours before we left for the airport which was a nice way to end our break. plenty of beds around the place and a nice walk to harbour less than a 1KM away. some of the terrain is a bit rough for a run but worth it to get out early and see the sunrise. highly recommended for couples looking for time off the wheel, 5 star spoils and with great weather.

Thanking British Airways for a last minute deal, way under other popular travel operators, I treated my savings to the ‘Preferred Club’ all inclusive. A driver collected me from the airport and deposited me outside Secrets. I checked in, was given a hastily scribbled guide on a hotel site plan, a braclet was tied on my wrist (website clearly states ‘braclet’s not needed?), a man loaded my luggage onto his trolley just as staff remembered to ask if I wanted that complimentary cava - I just managed to gulp some before striding after the baggage man. It was a very, very long walk to the furthest rooms, but the promised sea view was there. Lovely room layout, two beds placed together was just right for this solo traveller: large bathroom and shower, lighting everywhere, ample storage, with not the roomiest of balconies. A big plus was the restocked minibar and coffee machine. Day by day the choices of à la carte restaurants made eating a nice experience: as was the choice of different bars, however the piano bar held nightly ‘entertainment’ that was loud enough to be heard from inside my room, through closed windows! Overall a very relaxing, quiet ten days to kick back, read a book, and get a tan top up. Now the negatives : It may be five star, but it’s definitely not regarded as such. The cross section of full evening dress, and chinos through to t shirts and cargo shorts didn’t really live up to the hotel guidelines. The grounds are layer out with serpentine walkways and steps, so there’s no direct routes - at night some are under lit so stick to the one drink! I booked one of the Balinese ‘Volcan’ beds by phone as a treat. Received confirmation of the booking and time of delivery of the complimentary drinks and fruit (12 midday). Spent my time on the handy towels until 1pm, no delivery, so I had to get up to the room, phone again only hear a surprised reply they not booked it., but, no worry, it was corrected and refreshments were on the way. Two and a half hours later. My last days stay I walked the half a kilometre to reception to book again face to face: Bed from 10am, refreshments 12.30 to 1pm. All booked in. Got to the bed and no towels spread out - I had to sit waiting on a wall for two hours, just in case staff turned up. Back again to my room, phoned reception, who promised to rectify immediately. Towels were promptly placed, but refreshments? None all,afternoon, I needed something but couldn’t wander just in case - I stayed until 4.30pm then gave up. Check out day: You don’t have the luxury of a porter but have to haul everything all the way to reception. Then it was a case of arguing that Secrets was in no way charging for the two complete shambles of my last two days. Sometimes this hotel definitely lived up to the five stars other times it dropped a couple.

Had a lovely stay at Secrets Lanzarote! Charlene and Julia were amazing and made the social activities so much fun. I especially enjoyed making drinks and painting beach bags. They were both so friendly, welcoming and really made the holiday extra special.

This was my first time as a solo traveller to Secrets and what incredible experience it was. The staff were so helpful, accommodating and went out of their way to make sure you had the best holiday. Three in particular need a special mention. Jose on reception for being so kind. Lukas, night reception staff, so friendly and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. He explained everything at checkin, always made a point of saying hello and just the little added touch of a bracelet to open your door and use in the restaurants was so much easier than carrying a card. Cristian the waiter, who brought me a drink one day and that was my too go too for the rest of the holiday. The rooms were very spacious, the added touches made the whole experience so much more. Ie slippers, bathrobe, coffee pods machine. The rooms were always cleaned exceptionally to a high standard. The food was incredible. So much choice in the buffet restaurant and the a l'carte restaurants were another level. I felt like I was fine dining every night. The pool area was so spacious. There were plenty of sunbeds so there was never a day you never had one. Clean sunbed towels were provided every day. The resident cats were lovely to see. So friendly. The gym had everything you needed for a good workout. I was extremely Impressed. They also provided hand towels, refreshments and snacks. Sadly, I couldn't comment on the spa as I never went. Once you go to Secrets you will not want to go anywhere else. Thank you to everyone for making my holiday the best experience. I am already planning my next trip x
