This was our first visit to Safari Island, where we celebrated our honeymoon, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was nothing short of incredible. The staff truly went above and beyond for us. We were welcomed with drinks on arrival, our luggage was taken care of, and throughout our stay, nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Every member of the team made us feel genuinely valued and looked after. One of the biggest highlights was the inclusions. Complimentary snorkelling equipment is available throughout your stay, along with a free guided snorkelling trip, which was fantastic. The bars and restaurants also serve branded drinks rather than cheaper alternatives, which was a lovely surprise. Large bottles of water are always provided too. Although you sign a receipt for every order, all-inclusive guests will see the balance reduced to $0. For anyone not on the all-inclusive package, a glass of Coke is around $3, as is a large bottle of water. Premium cocktails, fresh fruit juices and speciality coffees, such as cappuccinos, are charged separately. Housekeeping was exceptional. Fresh towels are provided, and your room is cleaned twice a day. Considering you’re on a tropical island where sand inevitably finds its way everywhere, it was amazing to return to an immaculate room every single time. The island itself… wow. Absolutely breathtaking. Everywhere we looked felt like another postcard-worthy view, and every walk around the island seemed to reveal another little piece of paradise. It’s one of those places that genuinely exceeds your expectations. Another bonus was the air conditioning. Unlike some Maldivian islands that switch the electricity off during parts of the day, Safari Island keeps the air conditioning running 24/7, which makes a huge difference in the tropical heat. The food was outstanding, with plenty of variety at every meal. As honeymooners, the team also surprised us with a beautifully arranged private dinner for two on the beach, which was one of the most memorable evenings of our trip. They also host a beach BBQ every Monday evening, costing around $45 per person, which looked fantastic. Getting to the island was straightforward. Our seaplane transfer took around 25 minutes, followed by a quick 30-second boat ride to shore. However, it’s worth noting that transfer times can vary. We spoke to other guests whose seaplane journey took around an hour and a half because it stopped at several islands along the way. The staff around the pool, in the restaurants and the housekeeping team were all exceptional. By the second day they already knew our room number and our regular drink order, and it was those little personal touches that made our honeymoon feel even more special. The only downside to an otherwise perfect holiday was departure day. We intentionally booked a late evening flight back to the UK to make the most of our final day. However, the all-inclusive package finishes at midday, and unless you pay extra to keep your room, check-out is at 12pm. The latest seaplane departs the island at around 3:30pm (2:30pm in Malé), meaning we had several hours to wait at the airport before our 9pm flight home. It wasn’t enough to spoil the holiday, but it’s definitely something worth considering when booking your flights. Overall, Safari Island exceeded every expectation we had. The stunning surroundings, outstanding food, thoughtful extras and, above all, the incredible staff made our honeymoon unforgettable. We arrived expecting paradise, but we left with memories that will last a lifetime. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
We stayed at Safari Island for the 2nd time in December and we still absolutely love the place. The island itself is stunning. Every corner of it is paradise. No ugly sea walls, no sandbags, just beautiful foliage, white sand and crystal clear sea. We stayed in a beach bungalow this time and preferred it to the over water villa. Waking up and walking straight onto the beach was a dream. The only slight issue we had, which I had read about from other guests is our shower flooded the bathroom, so we had to use a towel on the floor to try to stop the water from going too far. Not a huge problem by any means and not sure what they can do to fix it but it is worth them looking into to see what can be done. The food was excellent. Lots of variety, always fresh fish curries on, delicious pasta, fresh salads etc. You will never go hungry at Safari. What really makes this island special is the staff and this is the main reason we returned. Each and every one of them are just diamonds, kind, funny, genuinely lovely people. Shueyb- Our Number 1 buddy, thanks for everything you did for us while we were there. Friend for life. Sharif- spotlessly cleaned our room daily lovely friendly chap. Special mentions to Thushara, Nasym, Hussain, the mega professional Mihiran, Karu, Naseer, Anees and "Jack". And Rahim for the best pasta yet again. We'll be back in 2027
Location was very close from the airport via seaplane , friendly quiet resort opted for sea bungalow . Spacious and comfortable Excellent house keeping , twice a day !
