Bahia Principe Escape Tequila

Just had a fantastic 14 nights at this resort everything was brilliant food entertainment the various a la carte restaurants Rooms are huge and cleaned daily pools are spotless Bars are all good as are the snackbars Beach did have a lot of seaweed but staff were there daily cleaning it up Im glad i ignored the negative feedback left by previous visitors and visited as nothing there dissapointed Big mention to all the staff everyone i saw spoke had a smile and did there job superbly Will be returning same time next year

Me and my girlfriend decided to book a trip to Mexico from the UK and have just left this resort. It is safe to say we are stunned and gutted we had to leave. I will start by saying the area and the look of each of the buildings in the resort are wonderful. We got to explore all of the different parts of the resort and we loved it staying at Tequila. They have regular shuttles that run between the different parts of the resort which is always nice when it is hot! Akumal and Coba are definitely in walkable distance which is nice but definitely need a shuttle for Tulum to save the long walk but as they run continuously it really is not a worry. There is so much wildlife there too which also made our holiday. The pools at tequila are nice as well with a lovely swim up bar with lovely staff there too. Definitely the place to be when it’s hot! We went to the smokehouse on the tequila site a total of 3 times, we could not get enough of the amazing food. What’s nice about this resort is the fact you get access to buffets in Tulum, Akumal and Coba as well as the restaurant in tequila which was amazing too so it really does give you a variety. The rooms here are also amazing. When talking about the rooms we actually had a leak on one of the first nights in our room from a big thunderstorm and an enormous amount of rain. While this was a slight inconvenience it was managed wonderfully by the staff at the front desk. They quickly had us change rooms without hassle and ensured throughout our holiday our room was okay and everything was up to standard. As well as changing our room they gave us a few complimentary things too to make up for the inconvenience which was lovely. I have to say Raul at the front of the lobby was amazing, he helped us with our luggage on a number of times as well as always being so friendly and always saying hello. The staff here really are some of the most hardworking people I’ve seen. They are always happy to say hello and go out of their way to accommodate you going above and beyond to note too. We genuinely could not be happier we booked this place and would recommend it to anyone at all. This resort is a fairly party based resort but there are seperate pools if you didn’t want to get involved too which isn’t a problem. Alternatively Akumal was a bit more chilled and also has all the features that are desired and more. The evening entertainment is nice too although we would have loved to have had some go on for longer but can appreciate it gets hot for them. There is a lovely little market near by Tulum too where you can get some really nice souvenirs of your trips for good prices however be careful and always give sensible offers if you see something you like to support them. Overall our trip was faultless and we definitely will be back in the near future.

location was good, about 1hr15minute drive from the airport on private transportation, huge property with well-kept grounds, plants and trees enough to make you feel like you're in the jungle at some locations and many areas to visit especially with 4 other resort areas tied into it. we stayed at tequila in building 3 on the top floor. the room was large and very well taken care of. it had a balcony that looked out to the jungle area and was very peaceful. the shower was huge and always clean and the bath toiletries were good. plenty of hot water as well. the room was cold and felt good after a day at the pools and in the sun. bed, sheets, pillows blankets all were good. there is a sofa in the room as well. we had some issues with getting water bottles for the room but after tipping never ran out. when we arrived, we found out that our buffet had been turned into an ala cart but only for breakfast and dinner due to being low season. lunch we had to take at any other hotels buffet or one of the other pool/food truck restaurants. there is no room service. i am an early riser and found out that they do not have coffee in the tequila lobby until 6:30am which meant a walk to coba where they leave a machine on for the evening guards. buffets were decent not great but enough to get by all had the same foods with minimal changes from day to day. Akumuls was the best by far. no AC in any of the buffets and because we had to go to other resorts there was always children of all ages and behaviors about. brazilian - was the best restaurant we had by far even for my wife who is not a big meat eater. there was no AC here either. smoked - this is not smoked meats they are grilled, it was okay but nothing spectacular. japanese - was good they had a huge variety italian - was our least favorite, my wifes carbona was pasty and the noodles barely al dente, my lasagne was salty with the tomato soup they served as a starter doubling as a sauce. booze was hit or miss, they constantly ran out of liquors. it seemed they rotated which bars had which liquor each day to spread it around. drinks were weak unless you asked for a double or drank it straight like i did what whiskey i could find. the bartenders do not know many drinks. pools everywhere of all shapes and sizes, some adults only if you are at the right hotel most are family however. all are big with enough room to not feel crowded. they seem to have set them up that one pool in each hotel area has a swim up and the others are for the kids. we did note that upon arrival on a Friday the pools had a hazy dingy water quality. some were better than others, tulum was probably the cleanest all week, coba's pool was decent but akumuls pool was very dingy and had a hazy discoloration until later in the week. we would not go back but think it could be a great resort for families with children etc. and yes they do have locals in but after all it's their country and if they pay why shouldn't they be allowed? our biggest problem was that we paid extra for all adults and then was forced to the family resorts. we had a huge issue with the amstar rep christian, he was trying to sell us on membership which we originally considered and agreed to meet with him the next morning for the tour etc. he then asked if there was an ala cart we wanted to go to but didn't get, we explained that we had picked our 3 for the week and wanted to keep them. he insisted that he could get us into the Brazilian with no problem so we agreed. upon meeting him the next morning he again asked if there was an ala cart we wanted and we once again explained that we had the others reserved already for our trip and that tonights was the smoked which we wanted. he then told us that we no longer had the smoked he took that one to get us the brazilian. this of course upset us and he started to explain that he could make the change if we wanted etc. at this point i walked away not knowing what we could or could not believe from him. later that morning there was a call to our room from the front desk telling us we had our reservations for the smoked but i explained that i didn't want any more confusion and since it was no longer on our reservation list on the app we would not be going. as we were about to leave the room we found a handwritten note slid under the door stating that we had reservations at smoked. we went to the front desk explained the entire thing to the person on duty and were assured that we could go. things worked out in the end but i really was not looking for the hassle while on vacation. beware of this guy he is a smooth talker making promises that can't be kept and changing your plans while telling you everything is ok.

Just got back yesterday from Bahia Principe escape tequila. Absolutely nothing but great things to say about this resort. Check in was quick and easy. Rooms were beautiful and spacious. With a modern feel. The Party pool was our go to everyday. Eric, who runs the entertainment at the pool was absolutely the highlight of all our weeks. Couldn't have asked for anyone better to bring everyone in the pool area together and make it a great time. From water polo, to volleyball, to even Jenga. He made everything so fun. There were also pool parties every other day that had great vibes! The food was amazing. Our a la cartes were at the mexican, Italian and Brazilian steakhouse. Every single one of them was fantastic. The buffet while not large in stature , had everything you could want and was very delicious. There were only two downfalls with this resort. One, the beach is Not very big. And quite rocky. The akumal beach seemed to be the best area to go. As it was free of seaweed. Secondly. None of the restaurants we went to, whether it be the a la cartes, or buffet. Had AC. And you would sweat profusely I've travelled to many all inclusives. This may be the first one, where I would say. I would absolutely be willing to come back to. Thanks again to Eric and the rest of the entertainment staff for making this such a fantastic week for the 10 of us that were on this trip!
