Brown Beach Evia Island

We are currently staying at this hotel, and this is probably the worst food we have ever experienced in a hotel! There is almost no choice at all, and what is available is very low quality. On top of that, we got food poisoning, with a fever and stomach pain. The food is often undercooked and not properly cooked through. There is no soup for lunch, and only one soup option for dinner. The desserts are very disappointing. There is no gluten-free bread, for example. When I asked for some, they brought it in a bag, but when I opened it, there was green mold on the bread! The only positive thing is the proximity to the sea. The rooms are small. As for the water, it is served in the restaurant from a jug and appears to be tap water. Maybe this is normal for French people, as apparently this kind of water and food are considered acceptable here.

We arrived at this hotel as a family with four children, knowing that it as an all-inclusive resort, so we assumed we wouldn’t have to worry about finding suitable food for the children. The hotel is quite remote, so we rented a car in order to get there. Unfortunately, the food is terrible and there is almost no variety. The meals are basically a small table with a few pots of food. There are only two types of desserts, both awful and completely unsuitable for children. Ice cream is available only between 3:00 and 5:00 PM. There are no popsicles, and there is nowhere to buy any either. The water park is open, but only about half of the attractions are actually operating. The food there costs extra, but at least we were able to buy a decent dessert for the children. There are height and weight restrictions for the water slides: a minimum height of 130 cm and a minimum weight of 30 kg. The children are weighed constantly. My 13-year-old son weighs 29.5 kg, and they refused to let him use the slides, even though they are simple, short water slides. It was extremely frustrating for him to sit in the water park and watch his siblings enjoy the slides while he was not allowed to join them. We asked to speak with the manager. We were told that they had left him a message, but after three days, he still hasn’t contacted us. We also asked for an extra blanket for our room three days ago, and we still haven’t received it. Every time we ask, we are told that someone will bring it, but no one ever does. In short, do not come here with a family. This hotel is not suitable for families with children, and it is definitely not what we would consider all-inclusive.

Location: good, and right on the beach. Rooms: Spacious, nice, good showers. Food: Very average quality, same stuff everyday , dry , no chef making omelettes. Pool: very nice. Pool bar: cocktails disgusting, burger was yucky, ice-cream good. Waterpark: awesome. Service: good. Spa: great massages.

I stayed at Brown Beach Evia Island and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The biggest issue was the gym. The hotel advertises a gym, but during my stay it was regularly filled with unsupervised children. They were running around, shouting, swinging on the equipment and climbing on the machines. It wasn’t just disruptive for people trying to work out – it also seemed like a serious safety issue for the children themselves. More generally, throughout the hotel it often felt like children were left to do whatever they wanted without much supervision. Whether it was in the common areas or the gym, I rarely saw parents stepping in or staff addressing the situation. As a result, it was difficult to enjoy what should have been a relaxing holiday. I contacted the hotel to ask whether there were any rules or age restrictions for the gym. They replied after a relatively long time, apologized for my experience and said they would remind guests to supervise their children. However, they never answered my follow-up questions about whether children are actually allowed to use the gym or whether any restrictions exist. After that, communication simply stopped. I understand this is a family hotel, and children should absolutely enjoy the pool, beach and other family facilities. But a gym should be a place where guests can exercise safely and without children treating it like a playground. If you’re booking this hotel because you expect to use the gym, be aware that there appear to be no enforced restrictions regarding children, and the hotel did not provide a clear answer when asked directly. Unfortunately, the slow communication and lack of follow-up only added to the disappointment.

The housekeeping service in this hotel is far below any acceptable standard. They leave dirty sheets and towels, refuse to provide more than one set of towels per person, and will not replace the bed linen from check-in until check-out. Even when towels are dirty, you have to beg to get a clean one. Face towels are not replaced at all, as they claim you only get one and should manage even if it’s dirty. In just two days, I had to go to the reception five times to request basic things. Each time I was told it would be taken care of, but when I returned to the room, nothing was ever done. They kept me waiting, and even something as simple as tissues for the room required asking multiple times. On top of that, the room is advertised as having a safe, but they don’t mention it’s locked and that you have to call someone to come and open it. Overall, the lack of cleanliness, poor service, and constant hassle made this a very unpleasant stay. I would not return to this hotel
