Service - very welcoming on arrival, carry your bags to your room and show you round the hotel, helped with any questions we had and helped us arrange car hire. The staff were really good! Hotel - the hotel itself is lovely, it is very clean and modern, the pool area is really nice with plenty of sun loungers and bean bags, never too crowded and didn’t have to fight over them in the morning 😂 Breakfast - nice variety of hot and cold food, all fresh and no complaints, good quality! Room - room was very nice and fairly spacious, with space for hanging clothes aswell as a fridge and safe. We paid extra for a swim up room and was definitely worth it, nice to have your own outside space, although the pool is shared by the other rooms around you we had no issue with this! Car hire - we hired a car through reception as they have a company they deal with for this, it was probably slightly more expensive than normal hire but for ease we went with this and everything was smooth, the hotel has a car park out the back which is really handy! Area - the area is perfect with lots to do and see, plenty of very good restaurants and tavernas around the area with a shop just across the road and a couple minute walk down to the beach. Overall we had a fantastic time here and would thoroughly recommend the phos hotel.
We (my daughter and I) have just returned home from this lovely hotel, after a 2 week stay. We had a swim up room (138) and feel it probably got the most sun out of any of the rooms. I did email to hotel and ask for a full sun patio. We had full sun on the patio till 3pm, but then the pool was still really sunny and I could sit on the edge of the pool next to the pool steps if I needed more sun! Even going down to the main pool at 4pm wasn't a problem to find a sunny spot easily. Staff were excellent, very helpful, friendly and not intrusive at all. The room again was perfect, with everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent everyday. Probably the best fruit selection we've ever had. The Gym seemed a little odd at first, as you need to book in and only 1 room can be in at a time for an hour. However, once I got used to this, I really enjoyed not having to wait for machines and being able to play whatever music I wanted. The aircon was one of the best hotel gyms I've used, really cold! We also paid for a late check out room and although expensive, we could keep the room until our transfer came at 7pm, which made our last day much more enjoyable. Again, I emailed to hotel before our stay to organise this. All email communication was very prompt and helpful. Excellent hotel, exactly what we wanted and nothing was disappointing.
Such a lovely clean quiet and beautiful hotel, the staff are all so friendly and very attentive, the rooms are lovely and clean and very modern and the location of the hotel is excellent. There is a huge choice for breakfast that caters for all and the pool side menu is all delicious and the prices are great and we had no problem getting sunbeds as the management are very strict about just leaving towels on the beds which is great they really will remove them. Also the shower amenities are excellent down stairs for late departures. We will be recommending this hotel to family and friends and will definitely going back for another visit
Beautiful hotel, relaxing atmosphere and great location.
Personally we were disappointed with this hotel. For information, last year we stayed at another hotel in the area for which we paid the same price. While this hotel is modern and clean there are a few things that were frustrating. We stayed in a junior suite (not with a swim up pool) for an alternative perspective to most reviewers here. Positives: • Breakfast had a good variety and was good quality, continually topped up so everything was available • Cocktails were well made - but very expensive and didn't come with a little bowl of complimentary crackers/crisps :( • Everything is new and in good condition • We had no issue with mosquitoes • Staff were pleasant and polite • Location is good, can get bus cheaply to Chania for around €2.20 each way, takes 20-30min, goes regularly, close to Platanias centre with lots of shops and places to eat and book excursions. Atlas supermarket was brilliant and the best we found in the area. Also a nice bakery just over the road Negatives: • not enough sun loungers/too small main pool, only 12 pairs of loungers by main pool for 46 rooms, could all be gone by 10am, swim up rooms had shade until midday so they would also use main pool. We had to find a private pool bar and pay to sit by that a couple of times • surprised to see no mention of this yet but getting scolded by staff for having your own drink by the pool (just a can of coke), being told you must buy from the bar for "tax reasons". No info displayed about this so don't know if this included food but saw this confrontation happen every day with new arrivals, something to consider when you have actually paid €10 a night tax upon arrival, cocktails are €11-12 each and seemingly rule doesn't apply to the swim up pools • and given you must get drinks from the bar, service from the bar was generally very slow and had to prompt for forgotten orders • Pool is all same depth, I'm 5ft 1 and I could only just touch the bottom on tiptoes, I wouldn't normally moan about something like that but other things left me a bee in my bonnet • Told pool towels get changed by leaving them on the floor in your room however that means you can't use them until house keeping has been and they would often just take them and not actually replace • On arrival and every time we asked for fresh towels from someone we were told we were not allowed to take the towels out of the hotel so had to buy our own for the beach and to take to the private pool bar (when we couldn't get a space at the hotel pool!!) The room itself had some issues, such as: • very little space for our belongings, just a rack for clothes 10 hangers, small drawers. • sink in the bedroom not the bathroom so toothbrush, facewash, suncream etc all piled on the bedroom side with everything else • only one mirror which was next to sink so made getting ready between us very annoying • to dry my hair by the mirror, I had use plug inside the cabinet with the kettle, constantly unplugging and rearranging • bathroom light on a sensor and frosted door so cant use bathroom at night without blasting light at whoever you're sharing the room with • air con hard locked to a minimum 21 degrees • poor sound proofing Other things to note - hardly any plants/garden, plastic grass, no lounge area in hotel Overall it was fine but wouldn't recommend the junior suite rooms for a longer stay, there are better options in the area
