The hotel is ok the reception staff at night are so so rude don't expect any help, I had a couple arguing next to my room for hrs and hrs he wouldn't do anything, they woke me up at 6am he still wouldn't do anything and wondered why I got upset I did swear or be rude to him I just wanted his help in calming them down or moving me somewhere quite his answer no English. Will never ever recommend this place. The food was disgusting the staff aren't really bothered your here and for what I spent to come here was such a waste and holiday was ruined.

I visited Gala Placidia in September. I was dreading the hill leading up to it after reading some reviews and honestly it’s nothing. First impression was that the hotel was exactly like the pictures and reviews. The room was standard with 2 singles beds which were very comfortable I’ve never slept so well abroad before. Plenty of storage space and big bathroom. Only downfall is that there was no kettle in the room which we had not been told could’ve been requested from reception. Rooms were cleaned everyday with clean towels which was a bonus. We decided to go AI. Which was standard, breakfast was nice except for the bacon I have no idea what that was but it was not bacon. Lunch and dinner were nice all though they seemed to have more fish options than anything, Snack bar by the pool was handy too. I would avoid the BBQ on Friday Night. We was looking forward to this so much but was really disappointed. But maybe that was just us. I would say the biggest down fall to this hotel was the staff. Teo on reception was brilliant so helpful and was joy to talk to. Also the man at the pool bar (older man, wore glasses) he was such an asset to the place. Their staff should take notes from the both of these they are honestly 5 star staff. Other staff were rude and would rush you away. You would ask for a drink and they would argue with you that this was not on the cocktail menu when I stated that it was he just laughed. The man who worked on the snack bar was such a horrible man didn’t get his name but he was youngish. Everytime you would walk by he would wolf whistle and look at you up and down. Maybe this worked for him as when I went to pool toilets that’s where he was kissing another holiday maker. This alone has unfortunately made me not to want to visit the hotel again and the reason I’ve goven the hotel 3 stars. The tall man that worked on reception was also unhelpful and couldn’t even bother to say hello to you. Please be more like TEO!!! Housekeeping staff are also brilliant especially the ones that worked on level 4!

We stayed at Gala Placidia for a week and overall I would say the hotel was good value for what we paid, but there are definitely some areas that could be improved. When we first arrived, everything started really well. We arrived early and the gentleman on reception was fantastic. He was friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful, and kindly gave our group one room to use until the rest of our rooms were ready. Throughout our stay he remained cheerful, approachable and always had a smile for us. He was by far our best experience with the staff. The rooms and cleaning were excellent. The maids did a fantastic job and everything was kept very clean throughout our stay. Unfortunately, our experience with some of the bar staff was very different. On our second night, one particular barman was rude to one of our friends regarding the hotel’s token and reusable cup system and almost refused to return her token when she presented her cup. Later in the week, my all-inclusive wristband came off. The same barman had seen me at the hotel all week, yet refused to give me even a bottle of water until I had the wristband replaced. When I returned with the new band, I was told, “That’s better.” I understand that hotels have rules to follow, but there are ways of speaking to guests without making them feel like children. The other staff on the main outdoor bar were generally fine, although at times we felt either ignored or spoken to in quite a patronising manner. The pool area itself was fairly basic, although we never had a problem getting a sunbed or umbrella, which was a big positive. Unfortunately, many of the umbrellas were poor quality, damaged or not maintained properly. One actually blew over and hit our friend on the head. There didn’t seem to be staff regularly monitoring the pool area, and there were no pool towels provided. Some umbrellas were replaced during our stay, but the area would really benefit from better-quality, sturdy ones. The buffet offered plenty of choice, but we found much of the food quite basic and often cold. I also feel that staff hygiene and presentation in the dining area could be improved, particularly in the heat. Overall, for the price we paid, the hotel represented reasonable value. The cleanliness was excellent, the location was convenient and the gentleman on reception was an absolute credit to the hotel. Sadly, the attitude of some of the bar staff and the condition of the pool umbrellas took the shine off what could otherwise have been a much more enjoyable stay.
