Hospes Maricel & Spa

We booked into the Presidential Suite - top room in the hotel. The room itself was okay, perhaps a bit tired in places, but the large terraced area - supposedly the highlight of the room - was a big disappointment. No shaded areas, furniture a tired and worn mismatch of items, the day bed had no curtains and was noticeably scuffed and marked, and there was no planting to speak of. There was no external lighting meaning we couldn't sit outside in the evening. It could and should have been much better and was a stark contrast to the beautiful sun beds and day beds around the pool area. The other major fault we found at the hotel was the service standards, which were very mixed. Check-in and front desk were excellent, breakfast service was dreadful and the service around the pool was poor with insufficient staff. Breakfast was disorganised - no meet and greet, nobody on day 1 to explain how the buffet operates and whether to make our own hot beverages, etc. The range of items on the buffet was fine, except for the absence of cold milk. This led to a farcical situation where I had a bowl of cereal and had to ask for milk, with 1 tiny jug being brought out. Apparently that was the biggest they had, so they had 4 jugs on the table - still not enough and in the end brought out a teapot filled with cold milk. The staff were generally offhand, aloof and unhelpful. Generally we were left with the impression that service had to be asked for, and customers should wait to ask if there were not enough staff, which was often the case. Given the expense of the hotel that was unacceptable to us and smacked of taking the customer for granted. On the positive side, the outdoor areas around the pool and seaside were genuinely lovely, with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. We were looking for another core 5 star property to add to our list of "go to" hotels on the island, having travelled extensively and visited many. Unfortunately this one simply did not make the grade.

This place was one of the worst highly rated hotels my family and I have ever stayed at. The rooms are not great at all, and we already had dirty counter tops and scuffed floors the second we arrived. For 2 days, our shower would not work nor would our toilet flush. On top of all of that, our room would not budge from 80 degrees fahrenheit because our AC unit was broken and they could not fix it (Mind you Mallorca is 100 degrees outside for most of the day in August). And then lastly, a hotel provided water bottle had shards of glass in it and we did not notice until we got to the bottom of the water bottle which means we could of consumed shards of glass. All in all, my family had a horrible experience at Hospes Maricel and do not recommend it for people traveling to Mallorca.

Everything was really enjoyable. Breakfast really good, pool was really good, staff including Mehdi and Patricio super helpful and attentive. Clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay again!

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Stunning views, really great service and an amazing atmosphere Truly worth every penny. The to young bar/ restaurant staff were next level, would return to see Facula and Ivan alone. The only negative I had was one member of staff who made it quite difficult to cancel my breakfast, he told me it wasn't possible and then it was and in quite an unhelpful manner... and the food is 4 star not 5 but still good. Worth eating there for the view. Will be back!

First off cheers to our new friends Ivan (Leon per Patrick lol ) and Oscar and Johnson! Such friendly people and so welcoming - thank you gentlemen for the hospitality. What a gorgeous spot. Beautiful views. Nice rooms. Nice staff. Cleansing team did great! We will be back!
