    Velmi dobrý

I’m a dad, 45, with two daughters under 8. This review was a 2-day trip with my wife and without the kids! Villa Le Blanc scores 7.5/10 Positives - Location - Breakfast - Rooms - Service Negatives - Value - Gym - F&B (outside of breakfast) Let me drill down further on key areas. The location of the hotel is stunning with direct access to crystal clear, shallow, warm seas. There is a good beach side restaurant (Pins) within 10 mins walk. If this hotel is your base with access to a car or scooter, you have made the right choice. If you do not have transport, be prepared for evenings that include Celine Dion doing the rounds at the 4-5 other hotels in Santo Tomas and the majority of places close pre 10:30pm. Service levels across the hotel were excellent, even before arrival, with concierge arranging reservations and sourcing tickets to sold out venues. We arrived before check-in time, and the hotel offered breakfast and a courtesy room to change / use the pool. With just 41 hours away from the kids, every second counts! Breakfast is, as many have stated, first class but I would say the coffee is average at best (I love coffee and like to drink it until my body shakes). Some say the quality of a hotel can be judged by its club sandwich, but my parents are not to be trusted. For me, Greek yoghurt is the barometer and here, it’s good. The beer is Mahou (my favourite), but our bill on departure was only 98 euros which should be an alarm bell for guest services as to why we did not spend more in-house. For example, a small beer was 7 euros so you can begin to imagine the price range of the other F&B options. The lunch menu was at best, limited, and if I’m being honest, strange. On the healthy side I found a token Caesar salad, a dish which illicits concern, largely regarding the type of person that orders it. The rest of the menu looked like a mix of a Greek tavern and Weatherspoons with 3 stews on offer, tuna tacos and a range of tinned fish. Please remember I’m looking at this menu around 1pm and at 38 degrees centigrade. Rooms are aesthetically pleasing (we were in 103, a sea view hot tub Time Machine). In terms of bed quality, sheets, amenities and mini bar - all very good. However, a couple of minor and major issues. The shower thermostat did feel like a game from the hit 90’s show crystal maze when locating the right temperature, made even harder when housekeeping reset this each day. The shower door opens outwards, so flooding takes place after droplet 6 and given my wife spends between 1 and 2 hours bathing, I did wonder at what point to shout ‘abandon ship’. The hot tub option surely ended at the same time smoking in hotels was banned? Finally, a bath in the room, has anyone ever used it / does it work? The major issue for me was the view and value associated with this category. The room cost was double that of a street view and so you can imagine my disappointment when opening the balcony to see centre and all the way to the right a wall, which was the back of room 101. To the left and directly below (we are only on the first floor) was the supply / staff passageway. Next, the generators of the hotel opposite were on at all times so the constant mechanical whirring drowned out any chance of hearing the sea which was clearly visible between the wall, passageway, adjacent hotel and palm trees. The gym is small and would need to double in size, with a better selection of equipment and range of weights available. My wife decided it was too busy, so we decided to run on the nearby dual carriageway, hot and dangerous - not recommended. Value for money – No, because of my comments on the room and cost. Outside of that, we did have a nice time.

I will try to be constructive The hotel is located by the sea and is certainly a recent build. However, there are several aspects worth pointing out. First of all, the hotel has one pool at the ground floor , and when the hotel is full there aren’t enough sunbeds and spots for all the guests. The sea is very close, but since there’s no private beach you have to get there on your own, and they’re all public beaches, so they’re not equipped with umbrellas. And where these are available, they’re quite far from the hotel. The first evening we had dinner at the restaurant, and after ordering we realized that for three out of four people, no dishes had arrived after more than an hour and fifteen minutes of waiting. We pointed this out, and within 5 minutes everything arrived all at once, with apologies from the kitchen. So it’s a hotel with a lot of staff, very young, but they still need experience — in short, very disorganized. Orders often didn’t arrive together, so one person would be eating while the other had to wait. Sometimes dishes simply didn’t arrive at all, as happened at breakfast. There’s no vegetable buffet, and above all, since it’s an à la carte menu, there’s no way to order salads, vegetables, tomatoes, or cucumbers on the side — they’re not included with the main course. I ordered a dish of rigatoni, and they were overcooked. Breakfast has some serious shortcomings, especially the coffee, which is not good quality: the espresso is very, very long and has nothing of an actual espresso about it. There are no jams — maybe one. The fact that the hotel is horseshoe-shaped means that from your balcony you look straight onto the balconies of other guests, so there’s very little privacy. The soundproofing isn’t great either. One point in the hotel’s favour is the cleaning, which is done very well. Apart from that, it’s a hotel with very, very high prices, but without the quality and service that a five-star hotel should offer

The hotel was superb. From everything to the customer service, the attention to detail, the, the facilities, bedding, and friendly staff. We had a gorgeous sea view room and Carmen, the concierge as well as Chele were very attentive in making our stay as enjoyable as possible.
