Grand Hotel Belvédère

What a wonderful oasis in this most charming town! The building, the rooms, and the facilities are totally refreshed and in fantastic shape. The room we got had this most spectacular view of the the Lauterbrunnen Valley, and the layout of the room is efficient and the use of wood and stone is charming. We only used the spa on the last day after we had done half day of skiing, and it was fantastic: the outdoor heated pool was super nice, and the changing room had everything to allow us to change, freshen up, and repack for the airport. The breakfast was 10/10. The hamburgers we had one evening were 10/10. The formal restaurant is probably a tiny bit weaker than it should be, if I can be honest. While the service in the restaurant was flawless, the main courses were not as outstanding as I had expected, though they were not bad, either. Finally, the overall service in the hotel was a 10/10: every single person was courteous, warm, efficient, and effective. I've stayed at this hotel twice in the past year, and will be returning again in June. I have my go-to hotels in many cities, and in this area of Switzerland, the Belvedere is my go-to hotel!

This place blew us away. I will start with the most important: The staff. Every single person working at this hotel was engaged, friendly, helpful, good humored, and seemed to enjoy working there, from the shuttle driver, to the front desk, staff, to the folks working at the spa, to the bartenders and servers in the restaurant. They clearly have great management at this hotel who have high expectations but also take care of their people. Bravo, team! Beyond that, this is an absolutely stunning property. It’s an early 1900s building that has been masterfully redesigned while keeping the original touches like the beautiful carved wood, the tile flooring, and the fireplaces. We went in winter and it was cozy as all get-out, but you can imagine the same furniture and design working beautifully in the summer with all the windows open. Dinner was included in the room rate which was a major perk and we enjoyed two great meals while there. Breakfast buffet left us wanting for nothing. The spa and pool area is a brutalist beauty — concrete pools that feel both sleek and comfortable at the same time, with views overlooking the stunning Eiger mountain. We wish we could have stayed longer and can’t wait to return for a summer visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely old-school resort. The service was gracious and they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The views are breathtaking. We were picked up on time at the train station, but other than with luggage (uphill), it was an easy walk to the train station and all of Wengen. Our room was quiet and well-appointed. breakfast was fantastic. The food at the hotel was pricy, but there were plenty of other places to eat in town within a few blocks.

Lots of «old world» charm in this hotel located in the upper part of Wengen, not far from gondola. We stayed in a superior room with Jungfrau view, which turned out to be in a not-so-old building next door with its own quiet bar and garden. Moving between buildings for breakfast and access to the spa may not be convenient for all guests, despite the offer of golf cart transportation. The split location should be communicated clearly to guests when booking. The spa is compact but appealing. A very comfortable hotel experience overall, with friendly and attentive young staff.
