We have been traveling for 6 weeks through Italy (Rome, Assisi, Orvieto, Sienna and Florence). Since we were close, we added a week in Switzerland at The Grand. WOW we are so very glad we did!! In fact next trip we will skip Italy all together and head straight to Wengen and take our same room 36. The view is breathtaking. The staff (especially Katarina at breakfast and Antonio in reception) are EXCELLENT. We felt like family by the time we left. The indoor outdoor pools, sauna and steam rooms are sparkling clean. My husband and I have been to 38 countries in the last 4 years and this was our very favorite stay!

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Belvedere for our anniversary. We booked the Attic Junior Family Suite Jungfrau View for two nights. In short, a fantastic stay in the mountains and we'd gladly stay again. Location (Wengen): We'd considered many of the little towns around the area, including Mürren, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, etc. and ended up settling on Wengen. Very glad we did, as we felt the town was a "goldilocks" for the area. Grindelwald was too active/touristy, Mürren had a long central road with large elevation changes to the sides and worse views (from our perspective), Lauterbrunnen was a bit too sparse and low in the valley. Wengen was perfectly situated partway up the mountain, with excellent views and a sleepy vibe alongside modern conveniences. One gripe: the cable car to Männlichen was closed for maintenance, which would've made access to hiking / Grindelwald far easier – would encourage checking to ensure that the cable car is open when you are there. Location (the hotel): The Belvedere is located a quick 10-15 minute walk from the train station. We'd notified the hotel of our arrival and there was a car waiting to bring us and our luggage to the hotel, but we noted that it wouldn't have been too bad to make the walk (admittedly we're very good at walking with luggage). It's maybe a couple hundred feet elevation up from the station. Facilities: We were told the hotel underwent a major renovation within the last year, and we could tell. Although the lobby area retains the classic character of a Swiss chalet (along with some of the original wood beams), the entire hotel felt very clean, new, and well-appointed. The bar and restaurant were beautiful and boasted grand views of Jungfrau, and the spa area felt like an oasis in the mountains. Our only gripe would be a single small elevator servicing the 5 floors of rooms and 3 floors of facilities, which meant occasionally waiting extra time to travel between floors. The Room (Attic Junior Family Suite Jungfrau View): So charming. Our suite was very comfortable, and we enjoyed the balcony with a table and two chairs overlooking the Jungfrau. We appreciated the exposed wood beams, the surprisingly good slippers provided, and the Susanne Kaufmann amenities. My wife commented how the carpet looked so clean – maybe a function of the recent remodel, but the room really did feel very clean and comfortable. Solid floors with good soundproofing and the furniture and built-ins were great. The staff left a nice note for us when we arrived. Our only gripes would be that a) the light switches were a bit unintuitive to use (perhaps our unfamiliarity with Swiss standards), and b) using the shower/tub required some awkward stances as the shower head was a bit low and pointed toward the middle of the tub and there were two separate shower curtains that needed to be carefully positioned to avoid water splashing everywhere. Service: Service was generally great. We were picked up and dropped off at the train station by Ronnie, a cheery Sri Lankan man who made us feel so welcome to town. Eleny handled our swift check-in (I'd encourage you to complete the pre-check in form online) and provided a quick tour of the facilities. I'd asked her about breakfast in my elementary German, but she didn't understand – we came to learn that many of the staff came from other countries so languages may vary but everyone spoke English well. We did encounter a couple less-than-savory interactions with staff at the restaurant, but I spoke with the manager Beatriz about it and she made us feel heard and did what she could to make things right. Lastly, a couple quicker topics. My wife had a treatment at the spa. Perhaps because it was the off season, but they had very few openings in the schedule. I'd recommend booking spa appointments prior to your arrival. She also indicated that the massage was also very light, despite asking for more pressure, but that it was relaxing if not therapeutic. She'd booked the signature massage which usually is fine at other establishments.. perhaps a deep tissue would've been more appropriate at this facility. We ate at the restaurant on premises one night, and it far exceeded expectations. The menu had some creative highlights (highly recommend the BBQ watermelon) and some excellent classics like the Swiss mac and cheese. Even the simple things like a side of dressed greens were a delight. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay with minor hiccoughs. Many thanks to the Belvedere and its wonderful staff for a great anniversary trip!

We stayed a week in this hotel booking two rooms. The room with the view on Jungfrau is amazing. Nicely decorated with wood panel. Note that there is only shower no bathtube in some rooms. The service is professional and staff very friendly coming from all nationalities The food at the restaurant is very good. Spa is worth with different pools, sauna, steam room and cold plunge pool. I highly recommend the massage which was one of best one I ever had. On the things to improve: No French channel on TV, they have over 40 channels not a single one in French, this is not acceptable We had to pay for extra for breakfast like pancakes, when you pay over 600 euros per night for a room this is not acceptable
