AHG Sun Bay Mlilile Beach Hotel

A beautiful hotel in an amazing setting. The wonderful staff here really make this place special and any problems or questions are dealt with very quickly. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Huge TV and some toiletries supplied (Do take conditioner. Can't buy any anywhere) Wifi is pretty good. Drops out occasionally but we were still able to watch most things on the firestick. Bed large. Could do with an extra pair of pillows and a memory foam topper as it was quite hard but we coped. That's a suggestion, not a criticism. Two pools, both of which were kept immaculate as were the beautiful grounds. Shower fine. The beach is great when the tide goes in although the sellers that walk up and down are relentless (but not aggressive) which put me off a bit. Kettle, coffee and water supplied in the room but not tea bags or milk though they are available in the restaurant. Food is extremely fresh and tasty but a little limited. (Only two choices for desert for instance) That said, this is only a small hotel so we can understand why and fruit (absolutely delicious) in abundance. We did three trips. Safari, snorkeling and shopping in the ten days we were here. All unforgettable experiences and worth every penny. Thank you to Marco and his incredible staff for a holiday that will be remembered for a long time.

Step out of the hotel onto an amazing beach with warm sea. The hotel staff are warm and friendly. Special thanks to Abeth, Ibrahim and Matilda who always had a smile and it was lovely to chat to them, just as it was to chat to all the staff. We stayed in the new block with a sea view, perhaps the room cost slightly more, but definitely worth it. The restaurant food was excellent and no complaints about the all inclusive drinks too. The hotel had evening entertainment which we enjoyed too, but be aware it is a quiet place, certainly in the 10 nights we were there, so don’t go for a party atmosphere as you’ll not find it. However. you could always choose sun loungers regardless of the time of day! The hotel offers trips around the island, although we only used them once as they were quite expensive compared to very similar trips offered elsewhere. We used ‘Light Tours’ who are advertised on the beach directly outside the hotel. Jongo and Coochi (probably spelt wrong) were good guys and really looked after us. I understand that using guys on the beach could seem risky, but we used them 3 times and they were great!! As I said, much cheaper too and remember that the price they quote can still be negotiated downwards. Finally, we felt the hotel location was good as you could easily get to Stone Town, Nungwi (go for sunset and cocktails) and Jozani Forest.

We have just returned from a two week stay at this hotel and cannot wait until we can return again. The hotel offers a truly relaxing stay with excellent staff and good food. The beach is perfection and whilst there are many beach sellers trying to make a living, they are polite and respectful. We stayed in an ocean front room which was well maintained and cleaned daily. If you’re looking for the glitz and glam of a busy hotel with lots to do every day this is not for you. I’d however you want a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing break it is perfection. Staff take time to remember your name, notice when you’ve missed a meal service and are generally just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and the massage service was very good. The manager was present every day and the hotel seemed to work like clockwork with guests wellbeing and enjoyment at the centre of everything. There are always things that could be improved upon and I guess for me I would suggest that real glass was used during the evenings rather than the plastic that was offered for anything other than wine. But if that’s the only thing I could complain about then that says everything about our stay! We will be back for sure …

Small, very nice, and relaxing hotel. The staff was excellent- providing superb service! Even putting flowers on our beds in the morning. The hotel is very small, but more than enough room at the pool and beach. Room is a bit dated- shows signs of wear. Swimming in the ocean really depended on the tide- too low to swim in the morning, but around 12pm it would rise enough that we could swim (very important to us:) ). Highly recommend!

I had such a lovely stay at AHG Sun Bay Mlilile Beach Hotel. Travelling alone in Zanzibar, I really appreciated how warm and welcoming everyone was. The staff made me feel at home from the very first day. I loved the peaceful atmosphere, the beautiful beach and the food. September was the perfect time to visit, and this hotel made my solo trip even more special. I would definitely come back! Asante🫶🏻🙏
