We stayed at Kappa Senses for the final part of our honeymoon in Tanzania, and it was such a lovely way to finish the trip. The resort itself is beautiful, with a gorgeous beachfront setting and really lovely accommodation. Having our own private pool was a highlight and gave us the perfect place to switch off after our time on safari. What really made our stay special, though, was the service. The staff were absolutely fantastic and made us feel so welcome. A huge thank you in particular to Cynthia, Rehema, Kelvin, Benson and Robert, who were all incredibly friendly, helpful and great fun to chat to. There was such a genuine warmth from everyone, which made a massive difference to the experience. I also have to give Benson a special mention for helping me with my Swahili! I really enjoyed our conversations and hopefully came away speaking it a little better than when I arrived. We had a wonderful time and really appreciated how well everyone looked after us. Thank you to the whole Kappa Senses team for making the end of our honeymoon so memorable. Asante sana!

We stayed at Kappa Senses Zanzibar for a week for our honeymoon, and overall, we had a really memorable stay. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, our private pool villa was stunning, and the staff truly made our experience special. That being said, I want to give an honest review because the resort is still very new and there are definitely some growing pains that future guests should be aware of. Before arriving, communication with the resort was excellent. They were always very responsive over email, which we really appreciated, especially with the time difference between Zanzibar and the US. We had communicated twice that we would be arriving late, around 9:30–10 PM, and provided our flight information, so we were surprised that there seemed to be some confusion about our arrival when we actually got there. Our arrival itself was beautiful. We were greeted with champagne, check-in was easy, and the property was breathtaking. Our honeymoon villa was gorgeous, with a private pool, and the room had been beautifully decorated with champagne, fruit and honeymoon treats. We were also upgraded to a package that included breakfast, lunch and dinner, which we really appreciated. Our first night, however, was a bit chaotic. Since we were arriving late, we had specifically asked what our dinner options would be. We were told the restaurants would be closed and that room service was available, but room service was not included in our package. We were then told that dinner would be waiting for us in our villa, but when we arrived, there was no dinner. After calling the front desk, we waited about an hour and were eventually brought stale potato chips and half of a sandwich, which we hadn’t ordered. We were understandably confused and still very hungry. The resort ultimately agreed to cover a proper room service dinner, but that meal took almost another two hours to arrive. By the time it came, it was around 1–1:30 AM, some items were missing, and unfortunately the food wasn’t very good. It was definitely not the best first impression, especially after traveling so far for our honeymoon. Food throughout the week was probably the biggest area where we felt there was room for improvement. I would personally rate it around a 6/10. Breakfast had a fairly limited selection and was largely the same each day, while lunch and dinner became repetitive during a week-long stay. There are several restaurants on the property, but only about three were included in our package, while two required an additional charge. We also noticed that some menu descriptions didn’t always match what actually arrived. For example, something described as chicken skewers arrived more like a chicken wrap, and a cheesecake we ordered was a completely different type of cake. The cocktails and drinks, however, were consistently excellent. Those were definitely a 10/10! The property itself is stunning, but this is another area where I think management should pay close attention. Because the resort is so new, we were surprised to already see some deterioration in certain materials. Some of the umbrellas were starting to fall apart, pool baseboards were coming up, and one night my heel actually went through part of the wooden flooring in our villa. For a resort that had only been open for roughly a month, that was concerning. The property is beautiful and clearly has so much potential, but I hope they address these maintenance and construction-quality issues early before they become larger problems. The beach was nice, but I would set expectations for anyone booking here. The resort has access to the beach, although there is a grassy area separating the resort from the public beach. There are quite a few vendors who approach you, so it wasn’t necessarily the peaceful, uninterrupted beach walk we had imagined. The tide also goes very far out in the morning and comes back in around mid-afternoon. There are quite a few sea urchins, so I would definitely recommend water shoes if you plan to go into the ocean. And if you’re coming to Zanzibar expecting that iconic crystal-clear turquoise water you see in photos, you may want to plan a boat excursion or visit some of the beaches farther north because the water directly in front of the resort wasn’t quite that experience. Housekeeping was wonderful, our villa was kept beautiful, and having a private pool was one of our favorite parts of the stay. The Wi-Fi was also good, which was a nice bonus. But above everything else, THE STAFF is what made this resort special for us. Cynthia, Grace, Odelia, Rahma, Vanessa, Robert, Elias, Kevin, Benson and Samson were all absolutely incredible. Every single one of them treated us with so much warmth and kindness that we genuinely felt like we were being welcomed by family rather than simply being guests at a resort. Everyone we encountered throughout the property was friendly, smiling and eager to help. We loved getting to know the staff and honestly left feeling like we had made genuine connections with them. And a special shoutout to Obama, the Entertainment Director, who was absolutely wonderful and brought such great energy to the resort. Kappa Senses is clearly still finding its footing, and there are definitely operational, food and maintenance issues that need to be worked out. But I truly believe there is something very special here. The property is beautiful, the concept is incredible, and the staff is exceptional. They have created an atmosphere that made it very difficult for us to focus on the hiccups because of how genuinely well we were treated. If management can work through the growing pains and improve the consistency of the food, communication, maintenance and overall operations, I think Kappa Senses has the potential to become an incredible resort. Most importantly, I hope the management team knows how lucky they are to have the staff they do. They were the heart of our stay, and we will genuinely miss them. ❤️ Thank you, Kappa Senses, for being part of such a special honeymoon for us. We will always remember our time in Zanzibar.
