The hotel is smart and well presented However They just don’t get ‘it’. You know the indefinable difference between somewhere having ‘it’, and somewhere where a culture has seeped in and they just don’t have ‘it’. They are not on their game, they don’t have their mojo. So this results is apathy and somehow the customer gets in the way. Breakfast is a great example of this, lots of staff very smart on duty but just not on their game. I ordered coffee with separate cold milk It took a while But they weren’t busy Coffee and warm milk arrived. ‘I’m sorry but I asked for cold milk’ ‘I have 5 coffees to serve so I’ll be a while or you can get your own’ came the reply. Moments later the same waitress is having a chat with one of her colleagues, yes just having a chat. My colleague ordered a coffee and I another one, it came but no milk refill. Little details but just off their game. Menus were asked for twice. Poached eggs were just wrong. They are precooked but not warmed up when served - not cold but a long way off being warm. When they were cooked the egg yoke would have been perfect, however sitting on a tray in a lukewarm environment had made the yoke go pasty but still translucent. Not unpleasant but not pleasant either and a long way from a tasty freshly cooked poached egg. The staff walk around ‘dragging their feet on the floor’. Not all of them, but enough to make it noticeable. The buffet - the hot food again was lukewarm to tepid, and the quality of ingredients was poor apart from the tomatoes. - the pastry section labelled ‘Chocolate croissant’ or ‘croissant’. I prefer plain croissant so choose accordingly only to find it had jam inside. Small details but the difference between getting it right and wrong. There weren’t any plain croissants to be had. Nor honey. The cold buffet selection was quite good. It’s not just the breakfast team, at reception the two people carry on their conversation without acknowledging you are there. Not even a glance, there conversation is more important and clearly cannot be interrupted by a customer. All these people could be great and individually probably are, it’s the corporate culture at fault, and that’s down the leadership, Perfect location, stunning setting, beautiful building, but….
Excellent hotel, food and staff. The restaurant next door plays loud disco music every night to 11.30pm. Not peaceful. Expect no sleep if in a deluxe room or sea view. This cannot claim to be 5 stars not relaxing at all!!
Great location with seaside restaurants in front. They do offer a special dinner with limited tables outside on the second floor overlooking the bay. I recommend that.
This hotel is a real mix. The outside is fantastic, once there, it is in a great location . It was sold as a 5 star rating. Having to wait for transport to get to the hotel , as cars not allowed down the main Street, with luggage in the heat even though we had rung and said we were 10 mins away didn't feel 5 star. The room was clean but very basic. Then our ceiling above the shower had black mould .. The room turn down service and cleaning was not consistent . The breakfast was... ok, but we had to ask for the menu and if you want tea...make it yourself. Coffee you can have but don't dare ask for another . Some staff were really great, friendly and helpful but some made you feel like you were disturbing them.. if we hadn't been sold it was 5 star it would have been better. The spa was very good and helpful.
Overpriced and with poor service The hotel is marketed as a 5-star property, but it falls far short of that standard. Guests are promised parking at the city entrance followed by a shuttle in an electric car; in reality, when we arrived, we were told to either park at a different lot for 25 euros per night or find a spot along the highway. In the end, we had to park on the road and walk 800 meters back with our luggage to the shuttle pickup point. After checking in, another surprise awaited us—the room was old, with worn furniture, broken in places, and a view from the window like that of a prison cell, looking out onto the dirty wall of the neighboring building. That evening, the hostesses at the restaurant—two young women—rudely replied that they could seat us by the water only if we guaranteed to spend a certain amount of money and ordered a full dinner; otherwise, they would seat us only in the back of the restaurant. On the plus side: a good breakfast and courteous staff in the restaurant in the morning. Otherwise, it was nothing more than a hyped-up place—money wasted and a ruined mood.
