Hotel Huma Kotor Bay

The hotel is pleasant enough, but it falls well short of the standards expected of a genuine five-star property. The rating appears to be based on facilities rather than the quality of the guest experience. While the staff are friendly and genuinely try to help, the overall execution, attention to detail, and service consistency are lacking. What is particularly surprising is the contrast between the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Booking.com and the reality of the experience. In hindsight, TripAdvisor reviews provide a far more accurate reflection of the hotel. Unfortunately, we relied on Booking.com as a credible source and would not do so again. Room Quality We booked a sea-view room, but the overall standard of the accommodation was disappointing. Fixtures and fittings felt budget-level rather than luxury. Basic amenities were missing, including tissues, face towels, and an iron or steamer. There was only one bedside power outlet, and the bathroom lacked both a door and adequate blinds. As a result, early morning light from the bathroom regularly disturbed sleep. On one occasion, the room was also not serviced despite us being out for the entire day. Service Standards The staff are courteous, but service delivery lacks consistency and training. On our first day at the beach restaurant, I was served the wrong meal. Despite the staff double-checking the order beforehand and recognising the mistake immediately, the incorrect meal remained on the bill. After sending it back for correction, I had to follow up again ten minutes later. I was also unable to charge lunch to the room due to a reported system issue and was then asked to pay an additional 10% card surcharge. Other examples include: • No beach towels available on the first two days. • Guests being required to settle beach bar tabs when staff shifts change, regardless of whether they remain at the beach. • Frequent references from staff themselves to the operation being "chaotic." Breakfast Experience The breakfast offering is acceptable, and the food area itself is clean and attractive. However, the operation feels disorganised. Dirty tables often remained uncleared for extended periods, leaving guests waiting for tables to be cleaned before being seated. Maintenance standards also appear poor. The breakfast area toilets were missing door handles and lock components, and the signage had clearly been modified rather than properly replaced. While minor issues individually, they collectively reflect a lack of attention to detail that is inconsistent with a premium hotel experience. Overall Verdict The hotel's pricing is driven by its waterfront location and water access rather than by the quality of the accommodation or service. There are simply not enough staff, and training standards appear insufficient. The employees themselves are friendly and willing, but they are not being adequately supported. The most concerning aspect is the apparent lack of leadership. Throughout our stay, the beach side manager appeared largely detached from the day-to-day operation, often observing while staff struggled and guests raised complaints. The core issue is not the attitude of the staff—it is the absence of effective management and operational discipline. Overall rating: 3/5. Pleasant location and friendly people, but significantly overpriced for the standard delivered and nowhere near a true five-star experience.

Everything about the property is almost right except the service. Individually, several team members are brilliant,especially i need to mention the outstanding service from the Concierge, Bozidar, for his immaculate service and help in organising the yacht, minibuses and several things even things like houskeeping etc, that may not be part of his job. Also special mention for Ranjeet in restaurant team for helping with so many requests, even hwne he was off duty. House cleaning was very good but housekeeping team was non existent. They cant have one number on phone for everything and then nothinf happens. Even Kamar, Gul, Maria many others, whose names I forget, were really helpful but i did not find the hotel team operate as a cohesive unit. Their poor ratings can easily be improved with guidance from proper leadership. We enjoyed our stay inspite of few issues. I wish to go back soon, probided they would pull up their socks. I suggest giving to a known brand to manage. They deserve better.

We were not guests of the hotel, but on passing we decided to have lunch. We were met by Nina, who was very helpful, and her customer service was excellent. We had a lovely afternoon

We had a wonderful stay at Huma Hotel. The location is beautiful, with a stunning private beach and crystal-clear water that made every day special. The staff was kind, welcoming, and always ready to help, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was peaceful and relaxing. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. We truly enjoyed our time here and would happily come back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect vacation in the Bay of Kotor!

Every time I come to Montenegro, I stay at Huma. It’s my favorite hotel, and I’m always happy to come back. If you’re looking for a great atmosphere, exceptional food, outstanding service, and spacious rooms, this is the place to be.
