Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort

Our experience fell short of the standards of a 5 star resort. The resort itself has a lot to offer, for us it was a memorable Honeymoon the Breakfast was a good experience, time wise and staff it was the most smoothly ran operation. The poolside staff were attentive and provided excellent service, and the spa massages were amazing. We also particularly enjoyed the Duo Room making it a lovely experience for us together. However with the previous incident stated did let down the service. A cockroach was found in our room. My husband had to remove it from the room himself, and a member of staff subsequently collected it from the hallway. What was disappointing was that, despite this being a significant hygiene concern in a guest room, nobody came to speak to us, offered an apology, checked whether we were comfortable, or offered to move us to another room. I appreciate that unexpected incidents can happen in any hotel. However, what distinguishes a high-end property is how such situations are handled. In these circumstances, I would have expected a prompt and sincere apology, reassurance that the matter was being properly addressed, and, given the nature of the incident, at least the option of a room change. Instead, the lack of acknowledgement left us feeling that the seriousness of the situation had not been recognised. The issue for us is therefore not simply that a cockroach was found, but that the response afterwards did not reflect the level of service and guest care we would associate with a luxury hotel.

I booked through the tour operator PAKS. The photos and information on the website do not match reality! The hotel is asking for €1,000 to provide the room type that was actually booked (to match the description). To avoid double standards, the hotel and tour operator are obliged to inform guests about "Promo" or "Economy" rooms (which have no view).

We stayed for 4 nights in one of the 3 bed beachfront residences. The check in was very efficient and the front desk team very welcoming. The accommodation was very nice - one bedroom on the ground floor with a bathroom and living area, two bedrooms on the first floor with a further bathroom and then a roof top terrace with a hot tub. Everything was clean and well maintained. Our accommodation was right at the end so next to the public beach - despite a small barrier at the end, a lot of people climbed over it so privacy was a slight issue but not too bad. Beach was good - enough sunbeds. The service at the beach restaurant was not great - too often the waiters were chatting amongst themselves. Also expensive - as others have said, better to get a drink or ice cream from the kiosk or supermarket over the road. Breakfast buffet was ok - pretty good selection - but tables were not cleared that quickly and things kept running out so had to wait on a number of occassions. The road from kotor to the hotel is narrow but not that bad. Just takes patience - we didnt have any problems driving our hire car along it a few times. Probably wouldnt want to take something too big along it mind you. Just be aware that if you get a taxi into kotor in the evening it can be hard to get back. The hotel booked us a taxi on the way in (30 min wait) and told us to whatsapp them 30mins before we wanted to come back. We did that but got no reply for 20 mins and when we did, they said the wait would be over an hour. We therefore arranged a taxi ourselves but several taxi drivers refused to take the trip. In the end we had to pay 40 euros to get someone to take us back (×2 the cost of the first journey). Think the hotel could have been more explicit on this taxi issue since from other reviews, this is obviously pretty common. Used the gym a few times - fine but quite small for the size of hotel so with 5 or 6 people in it, it got quite cramped and had to wait for equipment to be free. We did go to the pool once - used the pool bar. Found the service lacking - the bar tender prioritised the groups of men there by preparing their drinks despite taking our order first and making us wait. All in all, the hotel itself was pretty good and it is in a lovely setting but felt that the experience fell a bit short - and it didnt feel worth the high price point compared to other hotels we stayed in during our holiday in montenegro . If we were in kotor again, would probably choose another hotel to be honest.

We had an amazing stay at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay. From before we arrived until the moment we left, the staff provided excellent service and made sure we could fully focus on relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The hotel itself is fantastic, with stunning scenery and plenty of amenities, so there’s really no need to leave the property if you just want to switch off and enjoy your stay. A very special thank you to Nina R., who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it!

Our 3-day holiday package 40th wedding anniversary stay this July was nothing less than fantastic. Shout-out to Miku, Guest Experience Executive. She made our welcome extra special and marked our celebration by sending to our room an anniversary gift - cake and the best of Montenegrin red wine. She deserves the best accolades.
