Valamar Tirana Hotel

This is a good family-friendly hotel in a beautiful location, although there are some areas that could be improved. Our biggest issue was breakfast, which was busy and chaotic. Despite an excellent selection of hot and cold food, finding a free table was a daily struggle. Carrying a small child around looking for somewhere to sit was a bit stressful, and there seemed to be no staff managing tables or helping families find seats. Maro World is a fantastic children's play area with a great variety of activities. The kids' club staff were lovely, and the weekend kids' disco featuring Maro the Crab was great fun. However, Maro World really needs a small café or somewhere for parents to grab a coffee. Our bedroom had beautiful mountain views, and a small child-sized bed was available. Be aware that live music in the bar can be heard from the rooms at night. The dinner buffet had plenty of choice, and there are some excellent restaurants nearby. Overall, a good hotel for families, particularly because of the children's facilities, but a few improvements would make the experience much better.

Location is prime with great facilities, great quality food, premises and rooms are very clean, atmosphere is friendly and staff are incredibly helpful and accommodating. Hotel is quiet and equally happening. Location is a quick taxi ride to old town and a walk away to the beach. Highly recommended.

4 star hotel with 5 star staff. Made to feel very welcome and looked after. Nice to be able to use indoor pool at neighbouring hotel as outdoor pool not heated (only negative). Food lovely. Lively bar with music in evenings. Maro World amazing for the kids. Great location with a short trip into old town and airport. Also an easy walk to 3 pebble beaches.

The hotel was the best. Really enjoyed the kids club, Maro world was fantastic and the staff were so kind and energetic. Our children loved it. They really liked the softplay and slides and the trampolines. The food offering is exceptionally good value and very tasty. Staff are incredibly courteous and helpful and go out of their way to make guests, like us, feel welcome. Special mention must go to Mario and Josip on the food and Bev side and at Maro world Stefan and Gabriel. They were just the best and so kind. We won’t forget this trip in hurry. Croatia is a beautiful country.

★★★★★ A Masterclass in Hospitality. Our Second Visit Was Even Better! This was our second stay this year at Valamar Tirena Hotel, and somehow it managed to exceed the incredibly high expectations set during our first visit. Whilst the hotel itself is beautiful, what truly makes this place so special is its people. The team here don’t just provide excellent service, they create unforgettable experiences and genuinely make you feel like part of the Valamar family. From the moment we arrived until the moment we reluctantly left, the service was exceptional. A special mention has to go to Jerko on Reception, who welcomed us back with such warmth and even remembered us from last year. It’s those personal touches that make all the difference. Check-in was seamless, and throughout our stay he would always stop to say hello, whether we were heading to breakfast or passing through the hotel. Professional, personable and an absolute credit to the hotel. Our favourite lunchtime spot was Olivia by the main pool. The food was consistently fresh, varied and delicious, making it the perfect place to relax during the day. Tonci, Josip and Mario once again delivered outstanding service. They always greeted us with a smile, took the time to chat, recommended dishes and ensured we were well looked after. Mario was particularly attentive throughout the holiday, also serving in the evening courtyard, where nothing was ever too much trouble. Breakfast and dinner were equally enjoyable thanks to Ivana, Magda and Vesna. They were always welcoming, friendly and incredibly hardworking. Another standout member of the team was Goran and his team. We had the pleasure of seeing him throughout our 7 day stay, and his attention to detail is second to none. He has an incredible ability to remember the smallest details about returning guests, making you feel genuinely valued rather than simply another room number. His rapport with both guests and colleagues is exceptional, and it’s clear how highly respected he is by the entire team. Travelling with my granddaughter (6 years old), Maro World was once again the highlight of her holiday. The facilities are simply outstanding. From the rooftop trampoline park and evening discos to the dance sessions, arts and crafts and endless activities, there is always something happening. The creativity of the team is fantastic, and every area is immaculately maintained. I even found myself joining in with the arts and crafts most days! It’s a wonderful environment that encourages families to spend quality time together. The hotel itself is immaculate. Our room was spotless every single day, maintained to an exceptionally high standard by the housekeeping team. The thoughtful touches throughout the stay really stood out, from the children’s welcome toiletries to the lovely farewell gift from the Maro team before we left. These are the moments that turn a great holiday into one that you’ll remember for years. What impresses me most about Valamar Tirena is the consistency. Every member of staff makes you feel welcome, every interaction feels genuine, and there is a culture of hospitality that many global hotel brands could learn from. They have mastered the art of making guests feel valued, appreciated and excited to return. Big thanks also to Dario from the main restaurant and also Milan who greeted us with the warmest of welcomes for Breakfast and Dinner. Thank you to every single member of the Valamar Tirena team for making another family holiday so memorable. We left with wonderful memories, new experiences and are already looking forward to our third visit. If you’re considering staying in Dubrovnik, don’t hesitate.
