The hotel itself is genuinely impressive - modern architecture, thoughtfully designed rooms, large pools, excellent breakfast, a lovely spa. On paper this is a true 5-star property. Which is exactly why it's so disappointing how stressful the stay turned out to be. 🚨 On our second night, the fire alarm went off at 2:40am - extremely loud. We all jumped out of bed, our 10-month-old was badly frightened, and none of us could get back to sleep for hours. The night was ruined and the next day was brutal. It turned out to be a false alarm - no smoke, apparently a faulty sensor. Staff said a team would check the system, but that doesn't undo what happened or how it affected us with a baby. 📹 Then there was a car rally group of 15-20 people who checked in at the same time as us. Loud on their own, but the real issue was a full-blown photo/video shoot with 3+ videographers filming simultaneously - in the lobby, along the path to the pool, and right next to other guests on the loungers. We flagged it to guest relations, who tried to stop it, but the filming continued, and in the end we were the ones who had to leave the pool area. ⚽🚓 At the same time, the Croatian national football team was staying at the hotel - the fitness center was closed to guests for 3 days, 9am-12pm, there was heavy police presence around the property, and lobby access was restricted. None of this is disclosed at the time of booking. 🚭 Separately - the hotel is advertised on Hilton's site as "100% non-smoking," but that's not the reality. Smoking happens freely, and the loud, drinking group had set up right around the kids' pool - simply because it's closest to the lobby, bar, and restrooms. 🌊 One more thing: the pool is advertised as heated, but in practice the water topped out at 25°C. For September, that's effectively unheated and not really different from the sea not comfortable at all and gives misleading advertising. Bottom line: the hotel is beautifully designed, but management clearly struggles with enforcing rules and protecting regular guests from the impact of large group events. The overall feeling was that we were incidental guests at someone else's event - first the car rally, then the national football team — rather than paying guests of a 5-star hotel. Briefly: Location, design, and amenities: excellent. But go in expecting the hotel might be "taken over" by a shoot or a delegation, and the pool to be cooler than advertised.

This hotel is stunning. Amazing views and architecture and is very modern. Food offerings are poor. Says there are 5 restaurants . One is closed from 6pm, one is Michelin star with prices to match, one pizza only, one pricier near the beach and the buffet lacks variety. There were 2 evenings in a week of low key entertainment but these were in the pricier beach restaurant. The evenings in the hotel are soulless with a cold lobby being the only place to have a drink after dinner. Not many people do this. Looks like most go out for the evening. Nowhere to walk to but local town, Opatija, is utterly delightful for food and holiday atmosphere. Taxi is 10-12 euro each way.
