Dreams Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino

We stayed at Dreams Curaçao and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The issues were not limited to one isolated incident; there were recurring problems with the room, cleanliness, food safety, service, and overall attention to guests. In its current condition, this property desperately needs significant renovation, maintenance, and management attention. The room: Our room had a stained lamp shade, broken tiles, a missing drain component in the bathroom sink, and a stained toilet seat. The bathroom had a strong musty smell, and when looking up at the ceiling, we noticed black buildup/staining on multiple ceiling tiles. Most concerning, the shower drain was completely clogged and would not drain at all. We reported the shower issue and asked if there was any available room we could move to, including an upgrade. We were told the resort was fully booked. We were not offered an alternative place to shower while waiting, and maintenance took approximately an hour to resolve the problem. A shower that cannot drain should never make it through a room inspection. Food and allergy concerns: My wife has a severe seafood allergy and is gluten-free, so accurate allergen information is extremely important. At the Crafty Iguana, we specifically requested an allergen menu and were told there wasn't one. The menus did not provide sufficient allergen information, which made dining stressful because we could not confidently determine what was safe. The Preferred Club was also disappointing. The Hyatt app indicated that Preferred guests had access to the Mediterranean restaurant, but we were told we did not. The Preferred Club had very limited food, was largely self-service, and did not provide adequate allergen information. Pool and cleanliness concerns: One incident was particularly alarming. A guest vomited in the pool, and we watched staff fail to meaningfully address the situation. A glass that the guest had partially vomited into was left sitting poolside for approximately an hour. There was also visible vomit floating in the pool, and we did not observe the pool being closed or appropriately treated during that time. Regardless of the proper protocol for a pool contamination incident, allowing guests to continue using a pool with vomit visibly floating in it while the situation remained unaddressed was extremely concerning. More generally, dirty dishes and glasses were routinely left sitting around the resort for hours, including on the ground, while birds flew throughout the property. Service and resort operations: Service throughout the resort felt consistently inattentive. Staff frequently walked past without saying hello or good morning. There were no straws provided with drinks, and the drink menus available were essentially pool menus rather than appropriate drink menus for the other resort areas. At the bar, ESPN was the only channel playing despite multiple U.S. sporting events happening. We are World of Hyatt Globalists and received no meaningful recognition or upgrade. We had also noted our anniversary in our reservation and contacted the resort in advance, but I mention this only as another example of the broader lack of attention to guests. A manager later told us he would do something special, but nothing came of it. We understand that no resort is perfect and that individual issues happen. What was disappointing here was the pattern: room-readiness problems, visible maintenance issues, cleanliness concerns, inadequate allergy information, limited Preferred Club offerings, poor follow-through, and a general lack of attentive service. This property needs significant renovation, maintenance, and management attention. The condition and operation of the resort do not currently reflect the standard we would expect from a Hyatt property. In its current state, I would strongly recommend that management address these issues before continuing to present the resort as a quality Hyatt vacation destination. Unfortunately, based on our experience, this is not a property we would choose again.

Dreams Curacao is a nice place to visit. The staff and services were exceptional as they were very friendly and went beyond to help us out. The restaurants and bars were good, with plenty of choices. The only recommendation I would make is for better coffee for breakfast and lunch at the World Cafe buffet. The beach and pool areas were as expected, beautiful and relaxing. The entertainment was also good. The rooms were clean, however, the building needs major renovations for this resort to be a 4 or 5 Star.

50% of the guests we were with, didn't have air conditioning. It was a total of 37 of us; a mixture of couples and young adults . Our toilet was rusty, mold, no shower water pressure, hair ALL IN THE TUB, they left someone else's swimsuit in the drawer, our toilet didn't work, I had to use the lobby restroom. I daag gon near had an anxiety attack because it was sooo NASTY! I took one for the team because it was a group of us celebrating a birthday. If it wasn't for the fun I had with them, I would have left the next day. It's just that bad. The Hyatt @Hyatt @Dreams resorts & spa needs to shut this place down and renovate. The staff needs to be trained. It was mold everywhere. There were NO straws available for the drinks. They said they don’t use straws on this property. What the heck?
