To start with the positives. It’s a very pretty hotel, particularly at night with all its twinkling lights. The rooms have huge bathrooms and all the basics (although our safe didn’t work). Housekeeping and bar staff were all amazing. But… the Windows buffet restaurant is total carnage! We dreaded going in because most empty table were either waiting to be cleared, or they had been partially set and you then had to find a member of staff to give you cutlery etc. Then you searched for a plate. You keep your same knife and fork for everything (you wipe it if you need cutlery for pudding). There were all the usual all inclusive dishes like omelette, pizza and burgers, but the rest is not great. They did a lovely rice pudding, but there are no bowls or spoons available (except at breakfast). I had mine on a plate and found a huge serving spoon, my wife had a plastic beaker and her wiped fork to eat hers. The whole dining experience is loud and unpleasant. We did have a couple of meals in the à la cart restaurants which were really good. Then the water park - a lovely group of pools which are great for families. Until… the small strips of grass need a trim and it takes 5 men 1.5 days to strim, rake, blow and watch a noisy job that would take 10 minutes with a mower. Then - locals use the pools at weekends and completely take over. They take over the pool, water slides and loungers, bringing speakers which they play loudly (there were 3 speakers playing different loud music). They crowd the bar so you can’t get drinks. We had to leave in the end retreating to the beach, where we were harassed by people selling coconuts, hair braiding, photos with parrots, boat trips and trinkets. We had around 3 peaceful days out of 10 by the pool. Finally - the evening entertainment is open air and starts at 9.15pm. It then goes on for most of the night. Although we were a few blocks away. And had a comfy bed, we didn’t have any nights without broken sleep. Overall - this does provide a lot, but in such a chaotic way that it oozes stress into your holiday. Not recommended.

Located on beautiful stretch of beach, groomed early every morning to remove seagrass that washed in overnight. Well worth it to upgrade to Sun Club as staff in this area are EXCELLENT! Huge thanks to Elvin for his attentive service and sharing his home grown avocados with us! Pedro, bartender extraordinaire, Precious for making sure we ate lunch everyday and Juan B, who all made our trip enjoyable. The resort itself, is getting a little tired and the pool at the Sun Club needs to be refreshed. Overall, the food was okay but not outstanding. Avoid the Bluewater Grill......very little selection and our experience was not great. The buffet offered lots of choice but after a couple of days, very repetitive. We appreciated the services of Racquel and Rosemary. Ariela was a wonderful hostess and we looked forward to seeing her smiling face everyday she was there. While it may not be the Ritz Carleton, the hotel is super clean, staff extremely friendly and a wonderful place to spend a restful vacation. And finally, our concierge, Frailin couldn't do enough to ensure our every need was met. I would not hesitate to book this resort again based on the staff alone. We loved it!

On the downside, the mattresses in the Sun Club section were extremely stiff and much firmer than we prefer. We tried a few different rooms, and the beds seemed to be the same throughout. That said, a special shoutout to Yonly for taking the time to show us another room so we could compare. At the Sun Club pool bar, Rosario and Yerica were top-notch and provided outstanding service. At the main lobby bar, Viany was very attentive and always looking for ways to introduce us to new drinks and make our experience more enjoyable. Overall, we had a very nice stay. If you're interested in resort activities, Victor is the person to see. He was very helpful and knowledgeable, whether you're looking for activities or interested in learning more about club membership. Food was good not great, Could be better but most of the items were tasty, Mexican restaurant not worth the try. Despite the mattress issue, we had a great experience and truly appreciated the staff's friendliness and attention to detail.

It's not luxurious hotel, if you will manage to book it in good price go ahead. It's a clean hotel with a lot of options to eat. It's bit on older run down side but clean and maintain every day hotel. Since early morning till late evening stuff is making sure everyone is looked after. Not far from Downtown Punta Cana, Uber around 5 dollars one way if you want some shopping. Atmosphere is very welcoming. I would suggest to book sun club with the room with acces to the swimming pool, very peaceful and nice part of the hotel. There is 2 bars, lounge and buffet for the sunclub near by and separate part of the beach with bar and snack bar for the sunclub also. Very happy with the stay. As I mentioned at the start well worth it if booked for a good price
