Araucaria Hotel

Great location and hotel. Restaurant and bar are excellent. Spa is a little hidden gem. The staff here are genuinely pleased to help and really go the extra mile to make a stay special and easy. Hard to single out anyone but the ski shop guys are amazing!

Food and service (the real differentiator): The standard is consistently high rather than occasionally impressive. Breakfast is genuinely strong, dinner is something to look forward to after a full ski day, and the team keeps things moving without rushing guests. The standout is the maître d’. Present, sharp, and fully in control of the room, he delivers real hospitality rather than theatre. Preferences are remembered, issues are anticipated, and two families are made to feel looked after rather than processed. Ski logistics (where many hotels fall short): The ski shop setup is efficient and frictionless. Rentals, adjustments, and the usual family administration such as boot changes and last-minute fixes are handled quickly and competently. With two families, this matters far more than décor, and Araucaria gets it right. Location (genuinely exceptional): The position is exactly what you want in La Plagne. Access to skiing is straightforward, daily logistics are simple, and time is spent on the mountain rather than organising the day. When travelling with children and equipment, this makes a decisive difference. Spa and recovery: The spa is excellent. It is clean, well managed, and genuinely restorative rather than a token wellness space. After skiing, it becomes an important and enjoyable second part of the day. Rooms and comfort: Rooms are comfortable, well maintained, and practical for ski life, with good sleeping comfort and sensible layout. Room service is efficient and reliable, fast enough to be useful and accurate enough to trust. Handling pressure and problems: During the stay, a potentially show-stopping and genuinely stressful issue arose, the sort of problem that can easily derail a family ski holiday. The hotel dealt with it calmly, thoroughly, and without hesitation. Ownership was taken immediately, communication was clear, and the resolution was both practical and complete. There was no defensiveness and no delay. The issue was handled so well that it never became the focus of the trip, which speaks volumes about the quality of management behind the scenes. Bottom line: Araucaria is a hotel where quality shows up in the unglamorous but critical areas: operational competence, consistency of staff, and the ability to make a busy ski week run smoothly, especially for families. If you want a La Plagne base that delivers excellent food, strong service, a first-class location, and stress-free logistics, this is an easy and confident recommendation.

Great facilities in a fabulous location. Excellent food choices and very friendly staff. Would love to return. Rooms are clean with great balcony views of the slopes on one side and Mont Blanc on the other. The staff could not have been more helpful and more friendly. Would definitely recommend for family ski holidays in a great resort.

My family truly enjoyed our stay in Araucaria. The location was superb, the room was comfy and clean, the food was terrific (breakfast and dinner), the atmosphere was great. It's a lovely place for the families. I would definitely return.

Would love to see a big improvement with the food more of a selection for kids, everything else was amazing. Unfortunately there was no windows to open in our room but we could deal with that.
