Hotel Base Camp Lodge

We stopped here for two nights while on our way to Val d Isere. Hotel is very clean, friendly people and has a great vibe. We also ate in the restaurant one night, food was great based on the price point. No complaints at all Skied at Les Arcs

If you like your room to be heated don’t stay here. Our room was cold- I asked the front desk how we turn the heat on and we were told “the heat comes on at 5” it was 5:45pm and we had no heat. The lighting in the room is dim and you can’t see anything. We wanted to have a drink at the end of our day and were told we had to wait until 7pm. What? This place isn’t cheap but it seems like a cheap hostel for backpackers. Very amateur place. Embarrassing to call yourself a lodge.

We stayed here as part of a hiking tour of Mont Blanc- very rude service at the front desk when we expressed concern about our room- although three to a room, we had to ask for additional towels in that not enough provided. Odd setup of a room as well (although frosted glass door to toilet, only a curtain separated the shower from the main room (where sink located). Overall observation re the hotel is that it does need to service its clientele because frankly it does not care (due to apparent popularity of the place based on guests present and newish appearance). I would counsel to stay away from this place (note I believe this is the first time ever I’ve given a bad rating).

Our room must’ve been designed by somebody who did not do any user testing on it. We had a room for three people which included a sofa, pullout bed on the first floor and a loft with two twin beds. When you pull out the sofa bed on the first floor, there was less than a foot of space between it and the wall, and it became impossible to walk around it. So the impact of that was that anybody who was upstairs and wanted to come down and use the bathroom would have to actually step on the bed. Or the person who would be sleeping downstairs furthest from the bathroom would have to climb over the other person to get to the bathroom. Completely ridiculous! The loft had a skylight, and there was supposed to be some sort of a stick to open it, which was not in our room. Otherwise, the loft felt kind of claustrophobic because there was no window to see out, and there was only a door down on the first floor to look out to a balcony that had no chairs. The loft was hot and there was not an obvious way to cool the room down. Other than to leave the door open to the balcony. On the plus side, the laundry we washed and hung up on the heater/towel rack in the bathroom all dried quickly. The restaurant was nice for dinner Not recommending this hotel

Not air conditioned, room was so stuffy, no windows, no option for an additional fan, laundry room only had two washers working and one dryer. Most times the money didn’t take, or the machine did not respond…so you had to put additional money in. Bathroom toilet had a door for privacy, but the shower had only a curtain. The toilet and shower were separate facilities in the room. The bathroom sink was outside the shower and toilet rooms. Room is so dark….we had an upstairs with two beds, and first floor had a pullout couch, which left no other room in the space. No other options for seating …… restaurant attached was sooooo hot, very unprofessional service (waiters running through restaurant with food and drink to serve) hamburger had tomatoes and pesto mixed in it, my small Caesar salad was great. Prices were high. Strange place.
