Saint Gothard

Rooms are stuffy are smell musty. The WiFi is so stupid, only one person can be on it at all times and otherwise your phone won’t work. Even on the WiFi I couldn’t get any of my work done. Rooms are decent, nothing really special. Definitely would chose a different hotel in the future.

Although I got a seemingly cosy attic-style room with a balcony, I found it really difficult to sleep in the place. The room was spacious enough, and it had facilities like a hairdryer and safe, not always found in 3 star hotels. However the room door didn't shut properly and you had to really bang it. Also, the lighting was very poor and it was so dark going up the stairs and in the restaurant, where I got breakfast for 12 euros extra. Only real advantage is that it's in the middle of town and near the station, Ave Jean Medicin & Promenade des Anglais!

My mum and I stayed at the Saint Gothard last week for a few days. The location was excellent, just a 2-minute walk from the train station and about 4 minutes from a large Monoprix, which was really convenient. The beds were comfortable, but the room and bathroom were both really small. Unfortunately, the shower didn’t work properly, when angled correctly, the water just trickled out rather than flowing properly. The main reason I’m giving a lower rating is due to what happened after our stay. I accidentally left my Kindle under the pillow. We had even left our luggage at reception after checking out, but no one mentioned finding it. As soon as I realised, I emailed twice and called several times, but received no response. I'm really disappointed—especially because we had thought the staff were friendly. It's hard to believe the cleaner wouldn’t have found it when changing the bed, and I would have expected at least a reply to my messages. Sadly, this experience has completely changed my view of the hotel and its staff.
