As a frequent visitor to Bali I was excited to stay at The Meru in a Garden/Pool Suite with my wife and 7.5-year-old son. The physical property, architecture, and landscaping are truly beautiful, but the guest experience fell significantly short of high-end luxury standards due to operational breakdowns: Delayed Check-In: We arrived after 3:00 PM to ensure our room would be ready. After waiting 15 minutes in the lobby, no staff came over to update us. I had to walk up to the counter myself, only to find out the suite wasn't ready—we couldn't settle in until nearly 5:00 PM. While management offered a Presidential Suite upgrade, we declined as we specifically booked the ground-level resort layout. The Deputy GM kindly stepped in to offer dinner and spa recovery. F&B Issues: The food options look great, and the staff are friendly, but dishes were consistently served lukewarm across outlets (including Roso and the pool restaurant). This was true for the Beef Rendang, grilled shrimp, Nasi Goreng, and even made-to-order eggs at breakfast. We also encountered dirty plates and cups at the breakfast buffet. Spa Miscommunication: Deputy GM scheduled a 4:00 PM spa appointment for us, but when we arrived, spa reception had no record of the booking. Since children weren't initially allowed, we had signed our son up for a kids' club activity he wasn't thrilled about. The mix-up caused unnecessary back-and-forth before Deputy GM stepped back in to sort it out so all three of us could go. Summary: The Meru has incredible potential, a prime location, and lovely staff, but basic service execution, guest communication, and F&B quality need real operational attention. I hope management uses this feedback to bring their service up to par with the hardware.
I had al experience with Amira, she did it very nice and relaxing, she made me feel comfortable!
Was stayed in meru in july, arrived at 4 .30 and for note that period is higj season and full occupation. Handled by Gr named harta he explained about tje circcumtance that the vendor of linen was delay, he gave us compliment lunch for the whole fam and beyond expextation the food was supern. 15 minutes before the food served room is ready! Will be coming back for meru service soon👌 excellent service at all staff level
We hope the hotel can improve its response time in situations like this, as a quicker response would make frightened guests feel much safer and reassured. And I recommend vongole pasta in Arunika!!
I stayed at the resort with my two teenage children. All the staff were welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. The bedroom was spacious and beds super comfy.the rooms were so well stocked with everything you could want. We had lunch at the pool and my son said it was the best burger and chips he has ever had. Special thanks to Satya who went over and above when my son lost AirPods, he was so helpful and wouldn’t give up looking until they were found. Huge thank you for o him. The hotel is big and pool area can get busy. People claim their suns lounges and on a few occasions we didn’t see anyone use them which is frustrating but not unusual. Great location on the beach and plenty of places to eat in either direction. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
