Europa Stabia Hotel

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had such a lovely stay and would definitely recommend! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the rooms and grounds were always clean, and we felt really well looked after throughout. The owner was lovely too and even treated us to a glass of Prosecco on our last evening, plus we were given a token to remember the trip by when we left! Great location for exploring, around 35 mins from Sorrento by train, with plenty of restaurants along the waterfront nearby. Would happily stay again!

The owner, Francisco, is wonderful, very personable and made our stay 5-stars!!! Great attentive staff, great food, great entertainment, and very comfortable rooms. I look forward to returning.

Place is great and the owner Francisco is so friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend this place.

# 🚨 DO NOT STAY HERE — ZERO STARS IF I COULD **Hotel Europa Stabia — the worst hotel experience I have ever had.** I cannot stress this strongly enough: **PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.** If TripAdvisor allowed me to give zero stars, I would. My partner and I came here because we desperately needed a relaxing break. Instead, this hotel completely ruined our holiday. We genuinely feel that we have not had a holiday at all. From the moment we arrived until the moment we could finally leave, we experienced one problem after another and were left feeling stressed, uncomfortable and, at times, extremely anxious. I had previously posted a review about this hotel before leaving, but I removed it because I was genuinely afraid that the owner would tell fabricate things about us to report to TUI or falsely report us to the police. That is how uncomfortable and intimidated I felt following during our experience here. I have now left and is therefore reposting because other people deserve to know what we experienced and do not make the same mistake we did by booking this hotel. ⚠️ Management made us feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived At check-in, the owner immediately told us that there were additional charges for facilities including the swimming pool and air conditioning. We questioned this because we had booked a package holiday through TUI and believed these facilities were included. Rather than helping us resolve the discrepancy, we were told that we were free to leave. Of course we could not just leave as the hotel was already paid for. We were also told that package holidays were " cheap"and that the hotel did not receive its asking price through package holidays and therefore could not offer the same package. This was an extraordinary thing to be told upon arrival. The message was very clear: **if you do not want to pay extra then feel free to leave.** And this wasn't something said once and forgotten. Throughout our stay, we were repeatedly reminded that we could leave if we didn't like the hotel's policies. That attitude completely changed the atmosphere of our holiday. The air conditioning was a constant battle. The hotel charges an additional €10 per night for air conditioning. We agreed to pay this. However despite paying for it and specifically telling the hotel that we wanted it available for the remainder of our stay, the centrally controlled air conditioning was repeatedly switched off. We would return from hot days out to find our room extremely hot and the air conditioning turned off. They switched it off in the night when they thought we were sleeping, early in the morning and as soon as we left the room. We repeatedly had to contact reception to ask why it had been switched off and to have it turned back on. We even asked for a fan because of the heat, despite paying for air con, and were given one that we had to assemble ourselves!!! We had agreed to pay extra for the service, yet we could not rely on having it available when we returned to our room. This was ultimately the issue that resulted in the confrontation with the owner. Who then contacted TUI to allege that we were being disruptive and threatened to call the police. I found this deeply upsetting. 😟 The experience caused me genuine anxiety and I could not wait to leave. I felt extremely anxious and vulnerable during our stay- which is why I removed my original review and can now re-post after leaving. I strongly dispute the way our behaviour was characterised to TUI and believe that the situation was represented inaccurately. We were frustrated, yes, but our frustration came from repeatedly having to ask for a service that we had specifically agreed to pay for. Being reported to our travel company and threatened with police involvement made an already stressful holiday considerably worse. I could not wait to leave this hotel. 🚪 It felt like a prison, not a holiday hotel The atmosphere was unlike any hotel I have previously experienced. The entrance gate was kept locked, meaning that we needed reception staff to let us in and out. The dining room was also uncomfortable. Staff appeared to watch guests closely, seemingly monitoring what people were taking. Rather than feeling relaxed and welcomed, we felt watched, restricted and unwelcome. There was even a sign stating that guests were not allowed to fill their own water bottles — **even with water**. This contributed to an overall feeling that basic things were being restricted and that guests were constantly being monitored. 🏨 The hotel is run-down and poorly maintained The condition of our room and the hotel was extremely disappointing. Our bathroom had: * Mould around the shower area** * A filthy extractor fan * Floor tiles that appeared black with ingrained dirt despite originally being white * An overall appearance of poor cleaning and maintenance The bedroom desperately needed decorating. There were damaged and marked areas on the ceiling, including loose tiles, an opening with staining around the ceiling tile, a filthy mattress without a protector and walls which obviously require painting. Throughout the property there were areas where concrete was visibly damaged and broken away which suggest structural compromise, along with dirty areas, stains and poorly maintained facilities. The overall impression was of a tired, neglected and poorly maintained building. This is supposedly a **four-star hotel**. However based on our experience, **it did not remotely resemble four-star accommodation.** I question if the hotel even has an approved star rating. 🏊 The swimming pool — another additional charge The hotel also charges **€20 per person** to use the swimming pool. My partner had recently undergone knee surgery and we had specifically looked forward to him being able to swim regularly during our holiday to help with his recovery. Unfortunately, we were not in a position to pay the additional charge, so **we missed out on using the pool for five of seven days of our holiday.** This was particularly upsetting because swimming was supposed to be an important part of my partner's recovery and something we had looked forward to during a much-needed break. This holiday was supposed to be about relaxing and helping my partner recover. Instead, we were worrying about additional charges and dealing with hotel management. 🛏️ The bed was unsafe The bed situation was particularly concerning. The hotel had pushed two single beds together to create one large bed. The zipper joining the mattresses was broken, there was no proper fitted sheet securing them together and there was no mattress protector on what appeared to be a heavily soiled mattress. My partner subsequently fell between the mattresses onto the floor while sleeping. Given his recent knee surgery, this was extremely concerning and could potentially have caused a serious injury. Only after this incident did the hotel offer to move us to another room. The replacement room was supposedly an improvement, but the view was largely of a **derelict-looking building**, which did little to improve our overall experience. 🏚️ The surrounding area The location was another disappointment. The immediate surrounding area appeared **run-down and neglected**, with derelict-looking buildings, broken windows, rubbish and generally poor upkeep. This is not the picturesque environment we expected when booking a holiday in this part of Italy. The hotel is also inconveniently located for many of the places visitors are likely to want to see, meaning you often need to rely on public transport or taxis. ## 💔 This hotel ruined our holiday The biggest problem isn't one individual issue. It is the **constant accumulation of problems and the attitude with which those problems were handled.** We came here for a much-needed break. Instead, we spent our holiday: * Arguing about basic facilities * Repeatedly asking for the air conditioning to be switched on * Worrying about additional charges * Dealing with an unsafe bed * Contacting reception * Contacting TUI repeatedly * Dealing with management * Feeling watched and restricted * Feeling anxious about raising legitimate concerns * And ultimately dealing with the owner reporting us to TUI and threatening police involvement **I hated every minute of my stay at this horrible hotel.** I have never experienced anything like this at a hotel before. I genuinely **could not wait to leave.** I am writing this review because I do not want another couple or family to book this hotel expecting a relaxing four-star holiday and end up experiencing what we did. ### 🚨 MY STRONGEST POSSIBLE WARNING **DO NOT STAY HERE.** **DO NOT be fooled by the four-star description.** Based on our experience, the condition of the hotel, the management, the additional charges, the restrictions, the treatment of guests and the overall atmosphere fell dramatically below anything I would expect from four-star accommodation. **This hotel ruined a much-needed holiday for my partner and me.** If you are considering booking it, **please look elsewhere.** **I would give ZERO STARS if I could.** **STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.** PS- have noticed that the owner is rude (again) when people post negative comments, so keep an eye out for his unprofessional reply. All the NEGATIVE comments are TRUE.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Europa in Castellammare di Stabia. The staff were absolutely fantastic – very friendly, helpful, welcoming, and always ready to assist with a smile. The hotel was a great base for our stay, and we really enjoyed exploring the town and the beautiful surrounding area. We managed to see and experience so much during our visit, which made our stay even more memorable. A big thank you to the entire team at Hotel Europa for the excellent service and warm hospitality. We would happily recommend this hotel! 🇮🇹
