This place is a dirty ! Jet2 need to drop this place like a hot potatoe I’d advise everyone to avoid this place It’s meant to be a 4 * hotel but in what century I’d give it a 2 * rating and I’d be very generous at that. On checking in around 1:40 in the afternoon we were told that are room was ready…great we thought. As we approached the room which had been”cleaned” the door was wide open this we believe was to allow the strange chemical smell from the room to dissipate before we arrived The wife being in the hotel business herself went and checked the pillows on the bed. One had a big old yellow sweat stain and the other was covered in blood…not a good start. Then checking the wardrobe and dressing table drawers long hair and food debris inside them, and the floor covered in dust. By now that strange chemical smell was starting to stick and irritate the back of the throat. This was reported to reception who called housekeeping to change the pillows…whilst I was downstairs the wife had also found used toilet paper under the bed, by now I had got in touch with Jet2 and was airing my grievances. The ceiling and walls were covered in black spots, (caused by condensation apparently) but we were still breathing it in, walls damaged, the air con vent grill has 1” thick dust on it. In the bathroom the marble is cracked, sealant all mankey. The floor stained with yellow from urine, the shower head is attached on the wrong wall attached with a metal flexible hose with the narrowest of bath tubs in the world, the shower screen is a 4 piece piece of plastic (concertinaed) which wobbles if you breathe on it and doesn’t stop any water at all so your in danger of flooding the bedroom. No kettle as advertised so had to ask, there are no irons in the hotel but they offer an ironing service (of course!) for a fee. The door handle when locked doesn’t fill you with confidence and you only get one door key with a bit of fabloned bit of paper with your room number on it-not very 4 star is it? The wardrobes smell musty and the rooms smell damp, the corridor walls are have damp patches all over the place, every where there is damp patches in the rooms, bathrooms and corridors and towards the end of my holiday I could feeling it affect my breathing and throat. I believe that these black mold spots are hazardous to anyone's respiratory organs. This place needs to be condemned before someone has serious breathing implications especially for the elderly House keeping appears to be more of a suggestion, there are people in uniform that look like there cleaning….but especially the rooms don’t get cleaned. We were there for 11 days a peanut on the floor by the bin it stayed there for the whole trip, we didn’t have any peanuts at all, little bits of toilet paper still in the same place after the room had been cleaned several times. The floor never being swept/vacuumed just dust accumulating/sticking on the soles of your feet as you walked around barefoot (soon stopped that. Now you might say why didn’t we pick these items up but it became a thing to see if the room was being cleaned or as the case appeared quite apparent that it wasn’t. On our return home we’ve had to wash all our clothes even those not worn due to then smelling like the wardrobes/room back there and we didn’t want to transfer any black mold spores back home We were told there were no other rooms available but next door the door had also been left open since we had arrived. By the time our Jet2 rep turned the back of our throats were burning and we told her about the room next door being open and unoccupied as she conferred with reception to get us moved to this room it is a little better although the smoke detector head is missing from the socket!!! Food isn’t great breakfast it’s your bog standard buffet breakfast! But evening meal don’t bother the restaurant is empty as I think other guests have given up and eat out but at least the fruit flies get a good meal, cold pasta, over cooked meat, salad, fresh fruit (that the flies seem to enjoy) and a desert that I suspect is defrosted rather than made on site. There are more staff than guests at evening scran The WiFi is very intermittent at best so bring a good plan from your provider We have paid a lot of money for this hotel and we are definitely not getting value for money. We’ve always gone with Jet2 and stayed in quite a few 4* hotels but this place isn’t one, avoid at all costs Jet2 if your reading you need to visit this place as an undercover guest and see that I’m not exaggerating it’s truly awful…..yes it has a great view but come on ! You can get that anywhere here on the coast especially at the price we’ve paid.
We were sceptical about the hotel after reading some reviews. But took them with a pinch of salt and we were glad we did. Both myself and my wife enjoyed staying here for the week. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. Spoke good English and appreciated me practicing my limited Italian. The breakfast was a good Italian type of fresh cakes, juice, coffee and meats / cheeses. The rooms, pool and general areas were clean and tidy. The hotel shuttle rides to Sorrento were the perfect way to get around with good timings. There is a bus stop at the top of the hill and there are a couple of shops and bakery 15 mins walk. Its a nice and quiet area with a good restaurant next door and a great pizza 10 mins walk away. Lunch and drinks from the beach bar right below the hotel are also good and fairly inexpensive. The beach isn't that busy apart from at weekend. Part of it is just for the hotel with free loungers. Its a rocky beach but sand as soon as you get into the water. Very clear and great to swim / snorkle around. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it for a quiet area to chill out after the hustle and bustle of Sorrento centre.
Wonderful stay at Alimuri Bay resort. We stayed with our family of 10. The rooms were well maintained and clean ( a little dated). The resort was a close drive to Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi Coast. Very close to many restaurants, but the on site was the best! Waitstaff was outstanding, Pino and his staff made sure we had everything we needed and more. They were very accommodating to specific dietary needs and remembered you when you returned. The food was amazing too!
Positives The location is good and transport links into Sorrento are good (not the hotel shuttle bus) The pool area is lovely and sun loungers are comfortable The dining area is clean and well presented The breakfast offers lots of choice There are no sunbed wars and it opens at 9am after being cleaned with plenty of room for everyone There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere during the day round the pool The views from the balcony are great Staff are polite and helpful Negatives The rooms are dated and both rooms we were given were unclean We moved room and it was really no better, the location and view was better The bathrooms are grim! Our shower didn’t work at all When they got it working it flooded the bathroom as it didn’t drain Our second room didn’t have tea and coffee facilities The shuttle service is limited times and not enough room for everyone that wants to travel Drinks and food around the pool are extortionate We found dark, curly hairs all over including inside the kettle and on the cups When house keeping came to clean the room again he used the same towel to wipe down things including the water logged floor The way the manager in the dining room speaks to the workers is rude and embarrassing The hotel tell you that other people don’t have a problem until you speak to them around the pool! Plaster fell from the outside canopy onto us whilst we were sat on the balcony. The hotel has potential, money has obviously been spent on the outside area but the rooms let the hotel down. This is not a 4 star hotel.
Location is a challenge, but you can get the free bus from the hotel into Sorrento but the last return time is just after 6:30pm, if you want to stay later you can get the local bus back that stops the other side of the tunnel which is a 7min walk back to the hotel. Hotel get very busy at weekends as the locals can use the pool area and hotel amenities. Rooms are very dated and need investment, cleaning could be better as this hotel has a four star rating, which in my view is very much exaggerated but the travel companies that advertise this hotel. For what you pay to stay here , there are better options in the town of Sorrento. The hotel really do need to look at there prices for food and drinks, everything is double the price, and with just a 5 min walk down the beach I. Either direction you can find better value for your Euros. In all honesty, this hotel needs investment, and could be so much more when you consider the location .
