Mar Hotel Alimuri Spa

Hotel room was lovely with a jacuzzi bath, and breakfast was pretty good. The hotel is extremely overpriced, not even a bottle of water a day. And when we did go to the lovely little beach we were confronted when drinking our own water because we’d not bought it from the hotel. The 008 bus was great at 2euro to get into Sorrento, we asked for a breakfast to be provided on days with early starts for trips and we were provided 4 crusty croissants from the day before… not great

Good- Arrived check-in went seamlessly well . FIRST DISSOPOTMENT The room was very dated and tired. Tiny tv on the wall is not much bigger than my laptop screen. Towel rack hanging off the wall, deck chair on the balcony had a metal rod sticking out of it. Luckily, my husband noticed it when I got up from the chair. It could, of course, damage to my leg. We reported this the next day to the tui rep she reasured us it would get resolved straight away. IT DIDN'T GET RESOLVED AT ALL. SECOND - So on our first evening, we went down for the evening meal, which to our dismay was a buffet style. OK- the food was look warm / cold.. Uncooked chicken .. Vegetables in a cold baymare. Choice is very limited to poor quality. This was also related to the tui rep, which she said she would look into and get back to us. We stressed to her that we can not eat the food that is on offer as it's poor quality and undercooked and the temperature of the food was unexceptable . So we said we want to go for breakfast only and want reimbursement for the evening meal. She came back with 15.00 euros person, which came to£330 for the 11 night stay. Which is ridiculous, really, because eating out costs way more than 30 euros a night. THIRDLY - YOU ARE NOT TO DRINK YOUR OWN WATER THAT YOU HAVE PURCHASED ELSEWHERE.... By the pool eara or snacks 🤔. So be warned ⚠️ you will get told you can not drink / eat what you have bought from the local shop. We told them to go away and we can are drink water. After that, they refused to give us ice for are cup's by the pool.Be aware that the price of alcohol and water is high. You are better off going to the Golden Beach or the crew bar where you will get a warm, friendly welcome. - Their was a workman sanding down the legs of are table on are balcony then repainted the leg's. Didn't clean up properly after himself. - The pool goes cloudy - The tiles around the pool are loose There where family's staying there who also had bad experiences too. I WOULD SAY , STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS HOTEL SAVE YOUR MONEY. TUI NEED TO DO THOROUGH CHECKS BECAUSE IT IS NOT UPTO STANDERED.

Just plain terrible. Rooms okay but surly staff and awful food.

TUI had downgraded this hotel from TTTT to TTT+ and I can see why. It's a bit tired but that wasn't our main issue. We were upgraded into a junior suite which, to be fair, was fabulous having a large jacuzzi bath looking out to sea.Breakfast was good and the private beach giving access to the lovely warm sea was great. Some decent bars and restaurants if you don't mind a trek in and around Meta but getting to and from Sorrento was a bit of a faff whether on the 008 bus or hotel courtesy bus (30 mins on a good day) Now for the real negatives - If the evening buffet is what comes with a 4 star hotel then my local Wetherspoons is a 5 star plus - dreadful and after one night we asked to move to B&B and be compensated for the HB we'd paid for. I ordered a 40cl draught local beer and glass of white wine and was presented with a bill of €22 - absolutely scandalous €12 for less than a pint. I didn't purchase a 2nd. Staff at breakfast were sound but in the day and evening not interested unless you were paying their over inflated prices. Think twice before booking because it's a 3 star max for me and you're getting a 2 star evening meal with outrageous drink prices with limited options nearby unless you're fit and happy to get some steps in.

The restaurant area was modern and looked great. However, if you're booking a standard room without a sea view, be aware that you may be placed in a separate building opposite the main hotel, which we were not made aware of beforehand. The room we stayed in could only be accessed by lift. As I have a fear of lifts, we went to reception and asked if we could move rooms, but were told this wasn't possible unless we paid £430 to upgrade for the remaining three nights. We never expected there to be no stair access to our room, and unfortunately the hotel wasn't very accommodating in this situation. I would also recommend ironing your clothes before you travel. We asked for an iron every day during our stay but were repeatedly told none were available. When I asked whether they had a system for tracking which rooms the irons were in, I was told they did not. Staff even acknowledged that their current process wasn't working. Aside from these issues, the staff were lovely, especially the bartenders, who were always friendly and welcoming. The hotel also offers a free shuttle service into Sorrento, which is very useful. Just make sure to book it in advance as spaces fill up quickly. The shuttle times are fairly limited, so it's worth planning your days around the schedule if you want to avoid paying the taxi costs, we paid £50 for a 13 minute drive into sorrento.
