Mar Hotel Alimuri Spa

Been to Sorrento a few times and found this hotel in Meta. A little further up the coast. Was an amazing trip!! Hotel is so traditional, the staff are amazing, polite and very attentive. We got upgraded to a suite which was much appreciated. The added bonus was the private beach a few steps down from the pool area. A handful of beautiful restaurants and cafes nearby, but the al a carte meals in the restaurant were amazing. Free shuttle into Sorrento if you wanted. We decided not to and just enjoyed the peace and beautiful surroundings Will b ee back 💕

I can understand the mixed reviews due to the rooms. Our room was clean and traditional or old fashioned if you wish. I don't see that as an issue but i would say the bathroom was rough around the edges and needs updating. The reception area is actually quite beautiful and also very clean. The dining area and bar are very modern and smart with plenty of room as is the pool area. The breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice including an omlette station made fresh to order, so i'm not getting the breakfast complaints. A mini bus will take you to sorrento and back free of charge, unless you book the late one for a small charge. The beachfront location is a massive plus if you know the sorrento area. Not much in meta town but there are a couple of supermarkets, (closed sundays though)if you are s/c. Train station 25 mins walk uphill will take you to pompeii, napoli and sorrento as well as a few other little towns. Finally must say all staff i met were excellent, helpful and friendly especially the cleaners who always had a smile and hello when we passed them, so again not getting the staff criticism. Lovely touch with the breakfast bag for our trip home. Would i stay again? Positives far outweigh the negatives so yes i would stay here again!

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. By far the worst hotel i have every paid money to stay in. The place is digusting and should not be awarded 4 stars.

Some unfair criticism made of this hotel. Public areas are excellent with lots of space considering it has just 85 rooms. In places it is somewhat dated, we booked a suite but asked to be moved as the shower was over the bath. The staff organised a change, into another suite and transferred our luggage. Within the suites there is a considerable amount of marble so arranging modern bathrooms must inevitably be difficult, but the rooms are very large with balconies giving you the most stunning view. An excellent restaurant with attentive service. The only minor point is there is no courtesy bottles of water in the rooms - but prosecco for breakfast! It is tired in places but do not be too picky, it is clean with very pleasant staff eager to do their job.

Do not go to this hotel. There is mold everywhere . The front desk / reception does not care about you except Maria Teresa. She is a gem and needs to be working at a 5 star resort. The rooms are outdated but non functional. We were upgraded and it was better but barely . The mattresses were like boards and the pillows were the same . In the halls you can see empty beer cans , old food and trash that hasn’t been picked up yet. We had to ask for water many times as they didn’t stock the mini bar. They were very understaffed . The balcony doors couldn’t close so the bugs and mosquitoes would come into the room. The bathroom is completely non functional even in the upgraded room. Everything was just low end and way overpriced . The free breakfast was not fresh and I couldn’t even get an egg white omelet at the omelet stand . I had to laugh as they put out the name tags half way into the breakfast and they were thrown on and didn’t match up to what you were eating which could cause an allergic reaction to others . Housekeeping was not available most of the time. We didn’t have enough hangers for two days and then when we got them they were destroyed. Eventually we got a few more decent ones. I just wouldn’t recommend this place. And most importantly, all tours leaving Sorrento are mostly at 8:30am but the shuttle leaves at 9am making it impossible to use it . So we pay a huge taxi fare to get into the marina or even the center of Sorrento . Next time we come to the coast we will stay in Sorrento to have direct access and save some money with the enjoyment of getting hotel service that is clean, friendly and service oriented . Please Maria Teresa go somewhere else . We were lucky to have you
