The Cross Hotel

Easy check-in, staff are polite and kindly store our luggage, big Thank You to Alex, who was always polite, helpful and makes you feel very welcome. The room was nice and specious however the bathroom needs some attention. It is a horrible smell coming from the drains, it was hard to fall asleep and in the morning we were woken up by this unpleasant experience. The only fact that we were away for whole days and we found the solution to open the bathroom window and close the bathroom door, which keeps us staying and we do not request the room move. In colder days it will not be possible to keep the window open at all times. There is a mini bar in the room, unfortunately empty so I don't see the point of having it. Transfer service available at the hotel which is very convenient if not the fact that it is double priced and if you book it for early morning before 7am it is an additional charge of 15 euros for the night tarriff plus the extra charges for card payment which ends up to about 110 euros for 4ppl (doesn't matter adult or kids) to get to the airport!

We spent 3 days at this hotel during the summer. Where should I even begin? The staff do not really speak English. The security is also inadequate — we were given a room where the lock did not work at all and could not be closed properly. We were quite afraid that someone might come in and take our belongings. I also ordered airport transfer as part of the booking, but for some reason it could not be arranged for the return trip. At 5 a.m. we had to arrange our own transfer, even though I had already paid the transfer fee. To mention something positive as well, the room was clean and cozy, and the breakfast was tasty with a good variety of options.

We stayed here for 4 nights. It was comfortable and in easy access of central Rome; we walked to the Colosseum in 20 minutes on our first night. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm and the bed was comfortable. The three star rating is because the breakfast was not great - a lot more sweet than savoury and very ordinary coffee from a machine. The pillows were also pretty flat - we asked for more. No tea/coffee/water in the room, even though there was a fridge. This is a good hotel for families and school groups.
