Hotel Europa

The hotel was clean and tidy, and kind of what you'd expect at this price. However it does need a facelift and the owners are doing this gradually, We had a very nice modern bathroom although the overhead shower floods the floor and the stopper in the sink doesn't work. Our room faced onto the lake and the views were stunning. The small pool outside was ideal to cool off in the heat. To charge €10 a night to park on Premises is extortionate when there is a free car park between 8 PM and 8:00 AM only two minutes walk away (4 hours free so you can arrive at 4:00 PM and park until the next morning)

We had an amazing lake view from our balcony, the staff was exceptionally polite and offered great service throughout the day. The hotel was surrounded by nice restaurants and a 50m walk away from the lake. I could recommend anyone visiting Porlezza to stay in this hotel.

a very good choice, cheaper than on the swiss side of Lugano lake and not far away from Como lake by car, easy parking for our car too. Wonderful view on the Lugano lake from our room, for sure a place we enjoyed very much

Right on the lake. Try to secure a room with a balcony facing the lake, quite nice. Room furnishings are dated but clean. Waling distance to the small town center. Restaurant on premises. A value proposition just don't expect Ritz Carlton levels of service. Much more affordable than staying in Lugano and short transit to Lake Como. It's an OK place to stay if the higher priced option doesn't meet your budget.

It is a 3 star hotel so expectations should not be too high but one should know: - parking 5 euro per day whilst there is (less than 5 minutes walk) a FOC parking area - front facing rooms are very noisy (late AND early) due to street noise - the (small) pool closes at 7PM at the latest (imagine you return from walking around all day in 35 degrees and you want a dip the pool at 19.05...) - not enough pool towels for everyone - pool shower does not work - when there was a distant possibility of rain (it rained less then 3 drops in total) the pool closed at 5PM - the restaurant is not part of the hotel (they collaborate) so when you get back around 3PM and you want a cold drink, you can not ask the hotel reception (not their business) and nobody is present in the restaurant - the dinner we had with half board was OK, but the steak in we had when we ate 'a la carte' was just OK (but definitely not good for a self-named steak house) - oh yeah, and when you ask what is exactly included in your half board, and the owner of the hotel says the first drink is on him, he means exactly that, the first drink and not the first drink every evening... - rooms have no airco, so you sleep (not great due to the heat) with the windows open, but then have all the street noise to deal with... - very friendly service though
